Kings Of War by soapdodger

Leading the way for this week, we have a look at the work of soapdodger who was inspired to build themselves an impressive Kings Of War army using the bonus of the game system that allows you to use whatever miniatures you like!

Kings Of War #1 by soapdodger

This miniature gaming project has come from a want to build an interesting and unique Nightstalkers army. soapdodger wasn't a particular fan of the Nightstalkers from Mantic Games and so they delved into the world of 3D Printing and also kitbashing in order to bring this army to life. As you can see, there are some absolutely horrifying miniatures in here...in a good way!

Kings Of War #2 by soapdodger

One of the nicest units that came together was the addition of these Scarecrows. This is such an amazingly twisted unit that looks like it is going to absolutely ravage you. I think the painting here is properly wild and I love how dark and gritty it feels. Match that alongside the object source lighting here and there and you've got an excellent unit.

Kings Of War #3 by soapdodger

The army has come together very nicely and I love that you have those fantastic spirits and ghosts alongside the horrifying Scarecrows. The massive monsters that look like natural creatures that have been "changed" make things pop properly. I also think that the large footprints for units allowing you to turn them into dioramas mean you can go to down with the posing of your miniatures and how packed your units are.

Moonstone Gnomes by robojoel

Next up, we're heading to the wonderfully whimsical world of Moonstone. This week is quite a Fantasy heavy week but I reckon that a lot of folks seem to have been doing down this route recently. Maybe there is something to be said about the escapism that Fantasy miniatures offer.

Moonstone #1 by robojoel

As with every time that we talk about Moonstone, it's not hard to see why these miniatures find their way into spotlights and garner awards. The sculpting is great and I love when people have a pop at painting them and bring them to life with beautiful schemes. This is exactly what we've got here.

Moonstone #2 by robojoel

There is an amazing selection of different Gnomes in this project entry and I love the schemes that have been used for each. It manages to tap into that earthy feel of Gnomes in general whilst also throwing in beautiful colours to make them pop. There is something of the classic Pratchett covers about the colour choices here.

Moonstone #3 by robojoel

Nine of these Gnomes have been put together and painted by robojoel and I think they each have an awesome feel to them. I would be very proud to have these miniatures in my collection and I think it would be hard to say that Gnomes aren't one of the best ranges that's available in the Moonstone range!

Darklands by lobstermooch

Last but not least, we take a trip to the dark and twisted world of Darklands. lobstermooch has put together a brilliant set of miniatures for their army of twisted Ysians by Mierce Miniatures.

Darklands #1 by lobstermooch

The Darklands miniatures range is brilliant and it's neat to see some that have been painted up not by their own team of painters. I like seeing people's paint jobs, especially for these super detailed miniatures and I think that lobstermooch has done a sterling job here. The red really pops and I think it draws the eye, especially on some of the larger miniatures.

Darklands #2 by lobstermooch

I think these towering monsters are amazing. I find flesh quite hard to paint at the best of times so I have to commend lobstermooch for the patience they have shown here. I really like how the musculature has been brought together and of course those rolls of fat on the fellow to the left. The basing with that jade feel to them sell the proper Fantasy feel to.

Darklands #3 by lobstermooch

There are some brilliant miniatures to check out over on the project from lobstermooch. I reckon that it might give you the nudge you need to start picking up some of these miniatures yourself and working on the Darklands game. Make sure to dive into more of the range over on the project and tell me what you reckon!
