Woohoo! Let’s get cracking.
I wish the KS things from Mythic in particular would stop until The Solomon Kane KS was delivered. That’s left a bad taste in a lot of people’s mouths.
Orktober is definitely Kromlechs month. I’m sure I’m not the only person who wishes GW would modernise the ork range, but I guess it’s advantage Kromlech!
Shieldwolf miniatures get better every time I look at them. I can only hope we see more from them in years to come.
Heroquest should be renamed Zerofest. So much potential pissed away. I said it before, I’ll say it again, I was more excited with Warren’s Heroquest project than I will ever be with Hasbro’s redo of the game.
I don’t think we’ll have long to wait on the Ork front – until then, Kromlech certainly are delivering.
It’s the weekend… yippee ?
Happy Weekend one and all.
yes, the weekend is about to start…..bring on the Weekender and FNF ( Friday Night Fights for Star Wars Legion)
London? Why not Belfast?
no one wants to build the Divis towers
Yay! It’s the weekend! I need a couple of hobby days.
Hi Friends!
How do we get our Kickstarter on the weekender and how do we get our kickstarter added to your kickstarter gallery?
We are trying to better female representation on the tabletop
We have 11days to go https://bit.ly/AzadiDeathFront
We would love to show our models to the community!
Warm regards from Amsterdam,
Rachid!
Added it to the kickstarter round up for you last night.
We’ll take a look about showing it on next week’s show
Happy Orkertber month. New overlord, level five to build orks.
I certainly like the look of the Shieldwolf Miniatures… a company I was not aware of [I do now thanks to BOW/OTT] but appear to produce some really lovely looking miniatures. Browsing their range, I think the Ogre Mansion Keeper would be a favourite simply because he’s accompanied by a dog, and who doesn’t like painting a faithful companion? https://www.shieldwolfminiatures.com/talliareum-ogre-mansion-keeper.html
Darkest Dungeon looks very interesting, but I’m not really taken with the disproportioned miniatures. To create a unique style is innovative but limits the transferability of the miniatures to other games and collections… so for me the jury’s out for the moment and sorry I’ll invest my pocket money elsewhere.
Oh… and that’s not investing my pocket money on HeroQuest either because it’s NOT @warzan ‘s HeroQuest 2.0 with improved game mechanics. ? It’s also a lot of money ?… and I’ve still got all that revamped Talisman game board and expansions from Fighting Fantasy games gathering dust for a few years now since my kids got fed up with it and damaged the main board by folding it up the wrong way! ??? I fear trying to get them into this ‘new’ HeroQuest would be a lost cause and that too would end up gathering dust in the corner. ?
I think you’re spot on there dude heh
Happy weekender all ???
That’s some lovely work by Sheildwolf miniatures great to see
another weekender Yay.
you should try the doll house shops @warzan they could have a gothic house frontage you can add to.
Only had one in Northern Ireland and it closed down last year
That’s a shame they are great to parts for terrain parts like doors, Windows, and pillars, to name but a few.
yup it reduced the number of modelling/hobby stores in Norn Iron to a very countable zero
Wow.
“…and eat aaaall the cake”.
Sounds a bit like @avernos has had some traumatic cake experiences *g*
Ooh the green skins look fantastic.
love the future marines.
Kromlech always has drool worthy items. Good stuff
Good gawds those stompas awe amazing. Everyone buy one so they’ll do a full size Gargant! Everyone!
Shieldwolf miniatures do loads of nice stuff. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
the monoliths were powered by dilithium crystals then upgraded to Dimond power.
It’s the Weekend!!
Yes… Another one! And only a handful of days after the last one…
theirs a chapter that dissed the inquisition and they kept screwing with their missions to kill the entire chapter @warzan i just cant remember their name.
Amen to brother warren about Hero Quest.
darkest dungeon does look really interesting.
Orks Orks Orks !
Lovely green Orks !
oh … and Hogs Of War funded, but there’s more piggies to be had when that pledgemanager launches.
So lots of hogs too 😀
Warren, I like the idea of London. I’m leaning toward a 1930s style of finish. So cool for steam punk, H.G. Well “war of the Worlds” or 194o German invasion of the Islands. Of the area options, Trafalgar Square clearly resinates with me. I have a substantial ork army, a bigger stomp would be right at home.
Ohhh! I do like the sound of War of the Worlds. It might scale well with the walkers from Ares Games’ “Tripods & Triplanes”.
I had to look up the Ares Games Tripods. Yes, I see it too; would be a fantastic game.
I was thinking tripods as well.
a fab show Guy’s
Hay Warzan Horse Guards Parade square is just down the road from Trafalgar Square, so if your looking for an open space for your tanks to battle in that could a good place.
also all the best with Wayland, I hope this secures your future and you guys are around for years to come.
Museum of Happy? I don’t believe it would be the site for such a Dallas catfight in the pool… or just maybe it is. The feathered hair is just the thing for any Sister of Faith crying out “Cake or Death!”. Then… we got Leo with his magnificent hair worthy of any Escher ganger.
Happy Orktober everyone!
Oh cold chills when you showed Regent Street
Spent 2 years of my life driving buses up and down that road .
The 3 d shows the topography very well. Would be a fantastic game. One thing to remember is that no matter what time of day there are loads of vehicles and people about so lots of blocking terrain things to drop down on a table.
Buses,vans ,lorries etc.
@warzan what about doing a ruined buckingham Palace in the bottom left corner which you could make fortified with tanks, and trafalgar in the opposite corner top right, you could then make a shorter mall and you would have a variety of woodland/parkland St James park with your buildings making St James Palace. You could also fit big Ben with the thames in the bottom right and it would make geographical sense just abit squished in scale.
If I was going to build a city I’d go for one that’s had a lot of construction over the years and has a mix of old and new architecture. Just to make things interesting. Somewhere like New York, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Berlin or Moscow.
I’d use the Sarissa tiles to make it modular, and that way I could take away and add sections depending on what time period I was going to game.
So for instance if we take Shanghai there would be elements that would allow you to play Battle of Shanghai 1937, then fictional battles post WW2 so a Korean War gone hot scenario through to more modern settings like a zombie or alien invasion game.
Oh my. That Kromlech Ork stuff is beautiful. Good job Christmas is on the horizon
If I wanted to create a small board for playing a modern game set in London, I’d grab the Dropzone Commander Cityscape and a bunch of 10mm Moderns or WWII minis from Irregular Miniatures. With the Flames of War set I’d just have to go full WWII Stalingrad and add in Pavlov’s House, but that’s just me. Have a great weekend guys!
Always loved Shieldwolf, especially for their resurrection of the Forest Goblins ?
I looooove that those arms swap without magnets! Ive been wanting companies to do something like that for years. I hope more people adopt that concept soon.
Blunderbass? A gun that fires fish, or a fish that keeps bumping in to things?
It now surely needs to be a thing in a Goblin army for Mantic right? I would love a Blunderbass gun.
I love the sculpting potential here.
Oh! What about those goblin exploding wagons? We need the bass shrapnel bomb equivalent too.
Kromlech has played a blinder there,
If your doing london what about 3d printing a thames flood barrier so you can add ships to the table
I suggested he recreate the start of eastenders but then he threw things at me
Never played Darkest Dungeon. I’d be interested in a let’s play video.
Tuesday you shall have your wish
It’s a lot of fun – very different from your classic dungeon delver. Worth sticking around for the aforementioned Tuesday 🙂
Great show guys, this weeks Indy is very interesting
Awesome prizes and show as always! Looking forward to Darkest Dungeon kickstarter!
First wooden bolter now wooden stompa… orks are da buildas
whaaaat!!!! this is hdF? Is it made by Magic elfs?
Indeed – borrowed from Santa’s workshop.
Happy weekend!
Shieldwolf Miniatures have a lot of interesting minis, almost backed the goblin KS back in the day…
I don’t know if i’ll ever get a Monolith for my necrons, having just seen the price but, i’ll be getting the wraith and the 3 towers (at the very least, they’ll serve as terrain pieces into smaller games!). For my Primaris, the Techmarine will have to wait till winter, still have to finish assembling my Indomitus necrons!
See you guys on XLBS!
By Gorkamorka, get the Stompys to da front of mine.
I really enjoyed the look of the Kromlech Orktober stuff. When the big-ass Ork stompa things made their appearance I began to drool, but then you revealed they were made from HDF and I spat my coffee out! Damnit! That’s an amazing amount of detail that they’ve crammed onto a material that I’d always just labelled as suitable for ‘building kits’.
Now I have to go change my shirt so I can finish watching the rest of the show. There’d better not be any more hidden surprises or I’m gonna have to do my laundry early…
Great show guys – a 2 hour marathon!
Those Kromlech Stompas look amazing – my only concern would be painting them. I’ve never had much fun painting hdf, mdf or any other “df”. But the finished articles do look brilliant. I don’t play 40K, but I would love to see one of those sitting on my shelf!
Good to see Heroquest is available in the UK – but I reallydon’t have any desire to get it, except for the nostalgia hit. If I want to dungeon delve I’d rather play Warhammer Quest, or even Advanced Heroquest! When I play these sorts of games, I want to play for the character development as much as the hitting things – so why choose Heroquest just for rolling dice to hit things? I could pick up Warcry, Warmachine or any other skirmish type tabletop game for that. Hasbro really missed a trick with that game.
Thought I was done with Mythic but having just got Fantasy Brawl through it is very good and Darkest Dungeon as an IP is very good.. don’t think I can back for other concerns but boy is it tempting.
Orktober, that’s great.
Another great Weekender guys and seeing a leveled London for a game tabletop would be interesting
I shouldn’t watch the weekender. It makes my budget hurt. 🙂
Working nights so fell asleep to boys now have to rewatch it all.
Lloyd was pumped up in the intro.
As far as the sale of Ontabletop….you guys have to do whats best for you and your families. I just hope things will stay the same with the way you interact with our community.
Love the Flames of war terrain.
Thanks guys
is it the Vex you’re thinking about @lloyd?
We have a winner @buggeroff that’s spot on.
woohoo!!! what do I win???
can’t believe you forgot their name. we’ve taken out enough of them 😉 😉 lol
i showed my 8 year old son the new heroquest and he was not impressed. showed him the stomper and he want 1 for christmas!
Kromlech are doing Orktober better than the company that started it all. At least someone is doing Orktober.
I like to think that Kromlech did Thanos and said that “fine I will do it myself” when seeing that GW wasn’t going to do it. This is what gave rise to Kromlech and other companies like it. GW not offering something that customers want and there being demand needing supply.
Happy Monday!!
I know I am late, but anyway happy week.
While I am more into 28mm, as an American with that terrain set you showed I would have gone with the modern Fort Worth and Dallas Texas area (particularly Fort Worth since some of the architecture looks like that kit) simply to have an excuse to use cow skulls as gargoyles on it and make Hotwheels city style roadway (google map Fort Worth and Dallas Texas you well see what I mean).
That said out of the options you showed us, it seems like the one you liked the most was Piccadilly Circus London with Trafalgar Square as a second. I am not an expert on terrain building but have come across a few tutorials and did bing up some images the places, so I will throw my 2 cents in about building both and you can reject it if it feels off.
For the rap-around screen I don’t think you need to sacrifice an expansive LED screen to get a good effect. Just judging by street level pics it seems that billboard wasn’t always a big TV billboard or that it often has the same advert company logos on it in the same places, particularly Coca cola, TDK, and Sanyo (it was hard to tell which it is, but seems to have been the former and whats more its current form isn’t one screen but several that had been tacked on over time). One could probably get a good screen effect by laminating some ads and putting them together or even photoshoping them together then laminating it. After that you can put some cheep light (like the kind University Student groups hand out for free or a model building light if you want something more standardized) that gives off blue or white light behind the billboard that may simulate the effect somewhat (not sure on that working out, just a experiment suggestion). The only issue is housing the light and the frame work for the screen itself latter problem of which I think could be solved by using carefully bending empty sprues.
Now as to the curved building in Piccadilly Circus that leads up to the big screen. I think that could be handled by just carefully arranging the broken sides towards the street to give the illusion of curving.
With Piccadilly out of the way, let talk Trafalgar square. For Trafalgar square, the big thing everyone seems to focus on at ground level is the statuary (particularly the lions), of which there is alot. There also seems to be a lot of unique pieces of architecture hanging about it. So you would probably be spend a lot of time 3D printing stuff. That said the local does have a good mix of tight and open spaces you would want for a tank game.
Those Ork Stompas are HDF???? That is interesting, they look awesome and I would never have guessed that
ORKS 🙂
