Wargaming With Dinosaurs: Make A Jurassic Park Miniatures Game A Reality! #OTTWeekender
April 25, 2025 by crew
It's OTTWeekender time! In this week's show, the guys get excited about Wargaming With Dinosaurs! We have a look at some excellent miniatures that you can bring to the tabletop in 28mm and 32mm scale for use in a variety of different wargames. We also talk about how you could run a really awesome Jurassic Park miniatures game and we might have even found a set of rules that would be perfect for it!
Dinosaurs are undeniably awesome and to have such a wide range of miniatures for you to choose from means that there's really no excuse not to bring your childhood to the tabletop for some dinosaur action, be it with Jurassic Park, Pulpy Lost World adventures or something else entirely.

Dinosaurs are always cool…
“Munch the lawyer!”
Lawyers … the other white meat for dinos of every size 😀
😁🤞🏻
The D&D Rust Monster and Owlbear were based on Hong Kong ripoffs of Japanese kaiju that got into packets of dinosaur figures that were around in the 1970s. Gary Gygax picked them up to provide cheap monster figures for D&D then made up stats for them.
For some reason, I’ve always liked the protoceratops.
Nice 🙂
I bought some plastic dinosaurs a while back for a game. They’re 1/35 scale…

Always wanted a dino battle!!!
Yet it’s weekender time folk’s 👍😆
1918 featuring the Americans. Yeah well done lads, fashionably late.
(Allosaurus is the best)
The dinos are looking great the gator headed one was the one in the water in JP.3? I think
Pope death by birthday card 🤔😎
Dinosaurs are cool… 3D printed ones, yes please
Great show guy’s 👍
More Legion stuff. Excellent.
Assassins Creed. Dinosaurs. And more!
Lunar Wars looks fun. Have a great weekend!
I bet that joke about Pompey was very funny, but I’m American, and it sailed right over my head like a metric kite.
I like the look of the Age of Reason box.
Good chat, gentlemen.
They really made B. Feet the worst crime lord ever, huh.
As soon as I heard Pappa Palps was going the way of the Death Stars with his groovy guard, I grabbed a set from online.
Ankylosaurus is best. “I’m a tank. I’m an dinosaur. I’m a tank- dinosaur” pretty cool.
Box art does look like Boba is about to club Grogu
Very well deserved, to be fair. That small cannibal freak…
With the combination of small target, Sarlacc pit and gaderfii club, he’s about to discover Space Golf.
Somehow Ratzinger returned…
How can you mix Ennio Morricone with Ezio from Assassin’s Creed? They’re clearly on opposite ends, the first being a renowned composer and the other more of an Auditore.
Lunar Wars proving yet again with the Ares Exoskeleton that literally anyone can do a better Dreadknight than GW’s.
Also, I’m still on team Archaeopteryx (the little feathered weirdo with the unspeakable name), even if it has become less special nowadays that we know most dinosaurs had feathers.
It might time to dust of my Romans again.
Lunar Wars minis look awesome, but it’s a shame they’re 45mm.
Dino-saw!
I don’t think the Early Learning centre has existed for years
It’s a shame Back Site Studio’s “Lunar” has been a bit forgotten. It’s still available if people prefer a more conventional scale!
Urban Wars brings back memories.
those AWI kits are coming out too late for me. dont need any more 28m minis for that conflict which is a shame because they do look nice. I wonder if Lunar wars has similar rules to Lunar when it comes to gravity. I guess this game l0ooks more sci fi than the 80s feel of lunar. My favourite dinos are the ones that d0ont want to eat me.
There is only one favourite dino in my books @brennon : it’s the Argonian Maid!
Triceratops. Of course. Prey animal with a vicious headbutt if goaded. Not sure if that’s quite telling or coincidental. Wanted to get a baby Yoda and mandalorian to paint so maybe now is the time.
Slow week for me, fortunately. Already got enough stuff to work on right now.
Nice one 🙂
Do you ever stop having a favourite dinosaur?
Triceratops.
The Moon game does sound interesting…
Dino with a little Charles What’s not to like whit a little bit of ham.
Dino and Dog look like your “go to’ place for dinosaurs for a siege of Malacia scenario.
@brennon I always kinda liked the Stegasarus as it had the horns on the tail and the fins on the back, it was like a dinosaur with extra bits, also it was in The People That time forgot so saw it when I was young and just always thought it was cool.
The Lunar Wars is tempting theres few moon war rule sets avaliable and then you watch a film like Ad Astra or Moon Zero two and there’s an itch to scratch…
It looks like the Age of Reason militia sprue would be a good source for some kind of ‘Legend of Sleepy Hollow’ scenario.
Would The Drowned Earth not be a good fit for Jurassic Park-related shenanigans?
yay – weekender again. i am also here
I love it🥰
One step closer to Dino riders, and then my childhood has come full circle
Hey guys, great show (as always) a bit surprised that there was no mention of ANZAC day, given 25/4/25 was the actual day?
And “Play up Pompy!”
Did have a look at the lore videos for Lunar Wars (although I did wince at some of the mispronunciations, not sure if they were AI induced or the speaker didn’t have English as their native language…if that is the case apologies), and did find them rather engaging.
Not sure on the 45mm scale (although I doubt there’s going to be problems with owning “lunar terrain” in 28mm). Also with the issues that might occur with trying to fit the clear plastic visor into a resin head (that’s some precision casting/engineering needed there). BUT the minis look extremely good, and if you’ve ever watched “For All Mankind” on Apple TV (all 4 series) it definitely scratches that itch.
However cheaper option are there…..
Lunar from Black Site Studios in 28mm.
https://blacksitestudio.com/en-gb/pages/lunar-products
The MOONGRUNT range from Ground Zero Games in 15mm (presumably using the free Stargrunt rules from GZG)
https://shop.groundzerogames.co.uk/15mm-stargrunt/infantry/moongrunt.html
You can see I’ve had this kind of thing on the backburner for a while now (ever since watching the US/USSR Moon battles in For All Mankind). But with this Gamefound release it cost extra, but I suppose you get what you pay for (and the minis do look really nice). Not seen much on the rules so far (hopefully Gerry’s interview this week might shed more light on them).
I Would Love to win 🍀♥️🦕🦖
Glyptodon, the prehistoric Churchill Tank
It would make way more sense to do dinosaur based gaming in 15mm. Some dinosaurs got stupid big, so doing it in 28mm is just dumb as you’ll quickly run out of table space for most stuff.
Ankylosaurus Rocks! Bought a load of schleich Dinos for use in Ghost Archipelago, but the 3d ones look really nice!
Love the idea of Jurassic Park gaming. However, the velociraptor on Etsy is smiling. Not exactly scary.
Interested to see the assassins creed game from mantic. Wasn’t there one on kickstarter years ago?
