Footsore Miniatures & Games have now released a set of new Welsh Warriors in 28mm for you to use in your Historical wargaming. Whilst there is a decent focus on the Dark Age, these miniatures wouldn't look out of place deeper into the Medieval period as well.

Leading the way is this Welsh Dark Age Champion. He comes armed with an axe and shield, ready to defend his lord on the battlefield as they go battling through the valleys and beyond. I like the pose which is contemplative and heroic at the same time, a good stance for a leader to be in. You could also use this fellow as your warlord rather than simply relegating him to a lowly champion.

As well as the Champion, you can also get yourself some great skirmishers who are going to be harassing the enemy as they advance. Here we have another set of Welsh Archers.

This set comes with a bunch of awesome miniatures in different poses, drawing, reloading and firing their bows at the enemy. The sculpts for these Archers look wonderful and I like that there's so much motion in their design. You could see these fellows sitting amongst a copse of trees, taking potshots at their foes.

Whilst not as well armed as the Archers above, these Slingers can still cause a lot of damage to your enemies.

A sharp stone can punch through armour and therefore flesh and bones with ease if used properly! There are some rather nasty examples of what sling bullets have done to Roman armour so imagine what it would be like if it hit someone wearing a simple tunic and a hodgepodge of leather armour!

You can also get your hands on a selection of miniatures for those wanting a mounted element for their Welsh army. You can get some great Hearthguard Cavalry armed with javelins, ready to rush forward, strike at their enemies and then ride away before they get struck.

There are more than just these two miniatures available so you can mix and match them to suit your army. These are going to be great for those diving into games like SAGA but you could also use these for Conquest, the Dark Age supplement for The Barons' War. As mentioned above, they wouldn't look massively out of place in your Medieval games either.
