Warlord Games has released some new Officer miniatures for use in Black Powder games. If you're tackling the American Civil War in 28mm then you might want these new Officers for both the Confederates and the Union.

Confederate Officers Advancing - Black Powder

Confederate Officers - Advancing // Black Powder

The first of these figures is for a Confederate Officer riding forth or ordering around their troops on foot. This set comes with two different characters so you can have the imperious Officer who rides around on horseback looking down on his troops and the other one who perhaps has managed to ingratiate himself with his fellow troops and is a bit more grizzled.

As well as the Confederate Officers, there are also the Union ones for you to choose from. They match up quite nicely in style and would be great to slot into larger armies.

Union Officers Standing - Black Powder

Union Officers Standing // Black Powder

Both of these sets feature metal miniatures that are posed ready to issue some orders. I think both of these sets look great but the Union Officer on foot with his magnificent blond moustache is certainly my favourite I think.

May's Soldier Of Fortune

If you've been collecting the Soldiers Of Fortune range, you still have a chance to get your hands on the Shiver Me Timbers set featuring a Young Nelson facing down a polar bear.

Shiver Me Timbers Young Nelson Loaded For Bear - Black Powder

Shiver Me Timbers! Young Nelson - Loaded For Bear // Black Powder

This shows off the moment when a fourteen-year-old Nelson ended up facing down a polar bear. He was serving aboard the HMS Carcass under Captain Skeffington Lutwidge and feeling invincible, he charged out onto the ice to face down the polar bear and claim its pelt for his father. As you might have imagined, it didn't go well.

His musket failed and whilst he was prepared to beat the polar bear with his dirk, the sailors on the ship got wind and fired cannons to scare off the bear. Who would have thought that if things had ended up differently, Nelson wouldn't have been able to lead Britain to victory on the waves?

What do you make of these new Black Powder miniatures?
