Happy weekend all!
At last … Happy Weekend. ..
happy weekend and all that
It the weekend we made it!
It’s the (****ing) Weekend!! I don’t need to wake up at 6am like the rest of the week. But if I do, I expect to find my Weekender ready to keep me occupied! 😉
BattleSystems KS funded in 10 minutes…already knocked down a few SGs after £56k (checkout the Airlock doors!) Goingvto ve a few more knocked down today…
Just to point out about Angel Giraldez II – the pre-order mini is available if you pre-order through your FLGS too! (Want to keep it friendly, keep it local, keep it live? Then keep your FLGS alive!)
you’re so lucky to have a FLGS, none in my country. It will be very annoying come next year when FoW 4th ed comes out, can’t pick up a free copy. #3rdworldiscloserthanyouthink
😉
You are already in retail so …. 😉
Thank you very much BoW!!! There I was thinking “the Edge? maybe I xan skip this one?”…. But then you go and show us the Reborn.
So Christmas lists? i guess you can pick something being released in time for this year’s and a KS for the next ( or maybe the year after depending on how late it delivers 😉 )
If I had that mega paint set would that mean I would actually have to paint all my stuff?
The Battlesystems stuff is great. I got a shanty town in the last KS and couldn’t be happier. Not only is the product great, but the KS was amazingly well run.
Happy Weekend all!
The paint set looks superb but I still have my doubts about the dropper bottles! When I brought dropper bottled paint in the past no matter how much shaking I did, the first few drops were always watery, then later much too thick! So I have always reverted back to jar style paints where you can easily stir them. Have Army Painter sorted or at least minimised this with their paint formula?
Did you try adding a small ballbearing to act as an agitator?
I also think they benefit from being kept upright between uses so the nozzle doesn’t clog so much. A good shake and they’re ready..have got a mix of makes (inc GW) bought around the same time, and the droppers are all fine.
I would go with this, there are a few companies that sell glass beads or stainless steel ones for using in your paints, be careful buying cheaper ball bearings as no one wants rusty paint 😉
Yeah did that but no success. In the end I just emptied the entire contents into empty Citadel jars. Think the experience just put me off using anything in a dropper bottle!
I found the best agitator for dropper bottles are zinc washer nuts. The edges and corners help to scrape pigment off the sides and bottom of the bottle. I’ve put them in all of my warpaints and found that I need only a few seconds of shaking before use and then come out creamy smooth.
I heard that so steel balls react with the primer from vallejo. If I remember correctly it was in one of the videos off doctor faust’s painting clinics video’s (sidenote great videos to watch). I myself use glass balls and have had no problems yet.
would love that limited paint set, but yeah, that’s probably overkill.
Happy Weekend!!
Adding a ball bearing is a novel idea! I’ll give that a try and see how much longer the eye droppers last. I think they are much more convenient than the jar style ones.
Battle Systems has done a great job in improving their terrain through their past Kickstarters. The original sci-fi is still a great set, but a little fiddly in places. I passed on the dungeon terrain but pledged for the urban set and it is much improved for assembly.
Now with the sci-fi 2, I think I’m leaning towards the Galactic Core. The clean look of it is great and an obvious fit for Infinity.
It’s good to see the AP range expanding
Two amazing prizes again …!
BOW should have a show dedicated to the pronunciation of obscure names and terminology… ancient history from all over the world is well peppered with candidates.
Roman artillery – (as seen in the battle at the start of Gladiator)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scorpio_(weapon)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballista
John might like these as he is into his reenactments (with tanks):
http://www.romanarmy.net/artillery.shtml
Vercingetorix – Wer-kin-getorix
Caesarian – Kai-sarian.
I’m not really into sci-fi but I’m backing this battle systems Kickstarter as I love their previous stuff. And because I’m backing this, I ended up backing star saga, which I had no interest in until I seen the battle systems sci-fi terrain. My poor wallet. 🙁
I think Warren’s case for clear bases is made seeing those minis on the Battle Systems terrain.
A normal base just breaks the illusion of interaction with the environment. Great show , two kickstarters to consider , Battle Systems and The Edge. Cheers
The Army Painter new colors look great.
As to The Edge: Does Ben like the Reborn because of the nature theme or is it the half naked women? And I’d swear some of those Terror cultists from the Demon faction look a lot like some of the baddies in Grizzleheim in Wizard101. Are there plans for different battle boards/maps? Otherwise it seems that it would get kind of boring after a few battles. The figures look great though.
Little bit of both?
My problem with the eye dropper style of bottles is not so much the paint drying out but rather the tip plugging up and having to routed out every so often.
Happy weekend all! Great show this weekend and those prizes look great!
Have I heard paints? I like paints?
oooooooooohhhhhhhh loads of paint …..throne room could do with a splash of colour before next issue of re-roll …..will buy new six inch brush ready in case i win 🙂
I love the battle system terrain, I have to get to work on my dungeon. The Army Painter sets are beautiful but I understand about having to many paints and not needing even half of them. (I purchased a heap of of ebay, in very good nick. But I havent really got use out of the vast majority so they are slowly drying up. Can only shack so many bottles before carpal tunnel syndrome sets in. lol)
Happy weekender.
Justin just remember to keep stroking your butter nut squash to prevent it shrivilling up.
Happy weekend!
The Battle Systems kit looks spectacular would be excellent for 40K Kill-team, also made me think of Stargate, especially if combined with Battle Systems Fantasy terrain.
The Edge, the minis look spectacular especially the Rha-Zack Cyborg/Robot Angels, what’s no to love, the resource mechanic with the crystals looks real interesting, the game has a lot of potential for Cinematic moments.
Awesome show guys 😀
@firearchon I hadn’t even considered Killteam, good call on that
Hail ceaser need to do an Asterix figure
The Battle Systems stuff is great, I’m in this one too.
How does the army painter paints compare to P3 as far as finish is concerned?
Have been getting back into war gaming after a few years and would LOVE to get that mega paint set, as all my old paints are now a little dried out.
that paintstation looks amazing
Battle System seem to really be pushing the limits of what can be done with card terrain. The art is so good now, the flat panels look like they have three dimensions.
Happy weeekender ! Always nice to start the day with some BOW. I really like all these new paints from Army Painter, but damm thats a big box of paints ;), but as with terrain more is more. If i bought one of those sets, I would need to get in on the last kickstarter. Which do looks like something i need to spend my money on.
The battle system looks great! Now I must get a good game that I can play on it…
I have never, really got beyond the Army painters washes i love using them for giving extra depth. However as i have a crap ton of Vallejo i have never got aroynd ro using the army painter range of paints. Although i am now using the Vallejo air cokours a lot more now. How do the army painter paints go though an airbrush?
Got the better half into gaming a couple of years ago, have just watched weekender and now have a request for a mega army painter set for her birthday present…so I can have all the paints I will ever need without mixing darling(in a girlie voice and mischievous grin ) will have to counter with a request for Eden Kickstarter pledge, and borrow some of the Mega paint set paints.
SAGA:Your one stop shop for gaming a post-Sharpe Bernard Cornwell book series. 😀
Fab show as always. AP mega set, awesome.
Wait, what.. I won something?
/me faints.
Happy weekend everyone. Got to say that battlesystems scenery looks amazing. Can anyone let me know if the dropper bottles are superior to pots of paint, i’ve been using pots of paint for the last 25 years and have been tempted to try droppers but just not sure. Any guidance/advice would be appreciated.
Happy Weekend!
So the Battle Systems stuff looks amazing! Yet, I am more interested in the Army Painter’s new range. I am slowly shifting from GW paints towards Army Painter and Vallejo. I am a huge fan of the spray cans and the inks!
wow that army painter set is amazing as old cyclic their remind me of gardens arrange
themselves in the whorls and tendrils throughout tilled fields, snakes hold up this world in variations of light blue skies above temptation. Even when an illiterate weaver mistakes
an old date for the design, then dyes and binds strange numbers into a ground,
the change of the serif, for instance, in a calligraphy of days marks the date
of cartouches as mysterious, unknown. or i might just use them to paint my new 28mm british army am getting from santa if i won lol
A man (or woman) can never have enough pain pots, brushes and hobby tools!!!!! 🙂
Every time I visit BOW,I want something new. You guys are going to drive me out of house and home!
ok for now i’m at a 4x core sets for scifiII
i HOPE there won’t be much pay-for-it addons or they are crappy since i’m reaaaally stretching out my wallet!^^
There really ought to be a law against awesome Kickstarter projects rolling out during the holidays because there are now going to be some sad-faced children on Christmas morning. “Sorry, kids, no presents this year; Daddy’s been on Kickstarter again.”
Awesome paintset, definitely on my Xmas list!
Wow did I didn’t realised that Michał Oracz was designing this game(the edge)! I was a bit concern about it, nice models so probably expensive and board itself dont show much of “feel” of game. but now knowing he created rules I am completely in to it, This guy is fantastic in game design, I have most of his games and they are my favourite that i keep coming back to every month when I can. I will definitely pledge now. cant wait to see game play @warzan and @dignity.
Wow, amazing looking sci-fi scenary and that paint set, yikes, yes please. Have a great weekend everybody. 🙂
The Battle Systems stuff looks fantastic. It’s already giving me scenario ideas.
I have to say I’m really impressed with the Army Painter product, the colours available are fantastic and the droppers are excellent – I’ve never understood why all manufacturers don’t use this system.
because if you have to replace your paints before you’ve finished them through dry out it increases sales and profits….. or am I being cynical?
The scorpio or scorpion was a type of Roman artillery piece. Also known by the name of the triggerfish, it was described in detail by Vitruvius. In the progressive evolution of catapults, the next major improvement after the scorpio was the cheiroballistra.
A weapon of remarkable precision and power, the scorpio was particularly dreaded by the enemies of the Roman Empire.[citation needed]
Happy weekend everyone.
Great show, that Army Painter ultimate set is awesome. Can’t wait to see all the new paints on the market
Battle systems is fab. I did the kickstarter for the urban set and it is amazing.
Happy a fab hobby weekend.
Battlesystem kickstarter looks very good.
i wish i could get that megapaint set….. oooh the possibilities!^^
Ok…. IF i win i’ll send you back a miniature painted with those!^^
I for one would love to see a parts to painted series for one of the minatures boxed games.
I’m sure a few of us are accumulating many boxes of unpainted managers now.
The one you did for the warhammer 40k games was particularly good, I would like to see something like that for a CMON game or similar, so I can watch it and get motivated in my painting. Esoteric order of gamers does some good videos like this.
I’m currently half way through zombicide black plague, myth, Project Z, blood rage. And haven’t even started Rum & Bones, walking dead, conan and more. I did finish mice & mystics though.
I have the battle system dungeon set. Thoroughly recommend it.
Really want to pick up both the Giraldez masterclasses as well as the Tankart books.
The battle system stuff looks awesome. Could nice for Space Hulk the next level.
Can’t wait for Angel’s second volume. I really like his style.
I think I’ll be picking up some of the new army painter paints, I’ve mostly with vallejo.
That Mega Painter Set is pretty nice. If my paints start getting too old or need replacing I may need to look into it, even if some of my paints double up because of it.
I think I’ll get big Warpaints set but I’d be interested if the colors can also be used with an airbrush…
Giraldez v2.. she will be mine, oh yes she will be mine!
Very impressed with the awaken realms minis, especially the last one justin brought out.
Massive body, little head. Its like a mini donald trump.
Happy Sunday! 🙂
Those battle System kits are insane.
Wow, great contets as always. Good job guys!!!
i am fan of army painter’s color primers 🙂 it save me a lot of time
The Battlesystems terrain looks awesome. And it’s so useful that it can be flatpacked repeatedly.
I have a set of the Mantic terrain sitting in the living room at this moment, because I don’t have an obvious way to store it between games.
The only benefit of Battlesystems that’s also a drawback is that it’s fully textured. The outpost terrain looks fine and generic, but I feel the galactic terrain is a bit too stylized in a particular direction to fit every game.
And I also love to personalize my own terrain. Painting and craft is the biggest part of my hobby. It might be an interesting idea to create buildings in greyscale, so you can tint them with watercolor. Not sure if the material would like that, but I would be curious to know.
The Army Painter set is fantastic! That is a massive amount of colors that give someone a ton of options to pain their figures. I see a repaint of my Planetfall Terrans.
those Kickstarter buildings are amazing, cant believe there just card. also I think a Cryostasis room would be a cool thing to see
I have to say I am really disappointed so much fun stuff has come at the wrong time.
I have tried to jump into Hobbyween as much as I can but next week the final week of Hobbyween is my final week of uni… :'( So I can’t really spend the time I want to on it.
But I really loved seeing that Kickstarter interview, the battle systems terrain looks really good, cardboard stuff always has me looking at it sideways but I think it looks really good. In spite of all of that 😀
Alright everyone have a great weekend 😀
Love the Army Painter paints good coverage and last!
I’d love to give those army painter paints a try, they look to have a great range of colours
and more paints is always good
Happy weekend guys . Ok John where is the Dropfleet stuff ?? Built and painted yet ?
Awesome weekender.
I backed Star Saga in the last 2 hours yesterday. I still didn’t like the price I paid, especially this close to a holiday to Coleraine and Christmas around the corner, but I couldn’t help myself. The number of miniatures and the fact that you can create your own characters and do solo play clinched it in the end.
Now there’s a perfect terrain system kickstarter to go with Sci Fi gaming. Oh dear. More overtime I think.
The army painter range of colours goes from strength to strength. I like the strong tone wash / ink and their spray primers. I need to find a shop that sells it though. Postage on spray cans is always prohibitive.
I have my water project terrain idea sorted. Warlord are doing free postage right now. So I bought a small collection or Ancient Britons and Romans. I want a congested fight through a river because there was a famous battle of the river Medway between Caracticas and Vespasian during Rome’s first successful invasion.
I need to finish my hobbyween project ASAP. Got the concept sketches and first kit bash pieces in place but got to get the putty out and get sculpting.
Wish me luck.
If I win the paint set in may get round to painting my kickstarters. Scythe, Warpath, Nakamura Tower and now Star Saga. 🙂
Happy weekend everyone, that paint station looks amazing, as does the new battle systems terrain
Hm, i think I´ll get into Battle Systems. This could be a great set for a Mass Effect/Guardians of the Galaxy Space Opera game, a perfect addition to my Pulp Alley Sci-Fi plans. Like that.
Well then… another dose of weekender sorted. That awesome army painter paint set, its on the Christmas list. Might have to gift it to myself. Can finally get rid of the GW paints on my shelf. But to win it, would leave me free to expand my army.
that is a nice paint set, I would have to agree with Warren with GW choice of paint pots confuse me since I went on to dropper bottle’s as a container for paints
Really got my eye on the new Army Painter set. I already use their previous set, and I really like it. You can never have enough paint, right? Maybe eventually it will just spontaneously leap from the bottles and cover the piles of bare miniatures….
The new Battlesystems sets could be great for Gates of Antares. And @warzan is absolutely right, the Battlesystems Kickstarters are loads of fun and there’s a real community feel to the whole project.
I love the sculpts from the Moonstone KS. The looks like a game I’d never get around to play but I’d certainly like to paint those minies. Damn you BoW with tempting me with all this stuff!
Can’t wait to try the new medium from Army Painter. I do hope my local shop has ordered the new display (and it fully stocked).
Another great show guys, Ben trying to keep a straight face was a complete failure
Arrrghh! I just promised my wife that I wouldn’t be making anymore pledges on Kickstarter!!! We just finished having a clear out to make space for my hobby and after watching this morning feel like I may need to make some more space. The Edge looks amazing and knowing that Mythic is just around the corner I will probably have to start sweet talking the mrs or alternatively not tell her and try to sneak them in without her noticing. I wonder how many divorces have occurred due to the number of amazing games on Kickstarter?
Damn, hope I can make the deadline – I’m still waiting for the 3dprint for my Paramour model. Hope I have enough time to paint it up.
I would love to win the army painter set I think it’s awesome. And like all my posts if I win I will massage Warens large smelly feet !
With all the Kick Starter games I’ve backed over the last couple years I’m going to need that mega paint set from Army Painter. =P
All I use is Army painterly very their paints. The fact that they are expanding their range is awesome, I can’t wait to try some of the new stuff. The battle systems would be incredible in Deadzone or Warpath. The fact that it’s that hard sci-fi look and feel will fit the games that I love to play. With regards to battle systems you could get some extra super effects by combining all of their ranges for a hard sci-fi meets arcane lost city type adverture. Star saga would go fab in the new sets, and with the expansions the are planned for the game you could again use battle systems whole range.
I have been following army painter regards the paint sets. I would love the complete set as I like to think I am a really good painter and like to add as much colour on them as I can. But I think in the real world the mega set would be fine. I have asked my wife if I could have it for Christmas, but as we are both retired she is uming and arring. As for the roman bolt gun. I have no idea why it is called a scorpion. I have only been a back stage since Jan. but I think I would love the new position you are looking to fill. I live in England and I know absolutely nothing about the systems you were talking about. It is just that all the weekenders etc. I watch you seem to have a really great time. Keep up the good work.
l
Love the kickstarters
Has noonne looked at the kickstarter Deep Madness?
Excellent show again, love the look of battle systems and I’d love a paint set like that. The biggest problem with the games industry at the moment is there is too much good stuff out there to buy or back on KS, for me I don’t have enough money to back up all the great stuff you guys show us each weekend.
Sweet army painter sets! I love the colors!
the Edge stuff look amazing, my brothers is on the look out for a new skirmish game, just pointed that out to him
Really looking forward to getting my hands on the battle systems stuff. It’s the perfect solution for running demo games at shows; packs down nice and small, but still looks terrific!
That battle systems kickstarter is mighy tempting. It’s so versatile in it’s layout and the number of game where it can be used.
New Battle Systems look great.
The scorpion is an interesting warmachine. Just yesterday I saw a History Channel documentary about a scorpion that was developt in Ptolemaic Egypt (enemies of Rome). Appearently, a researcher at the ancient library in Alexandria came up with a pnenumatic mechanism that fired the scorpions bolt up to 50-60m. No such weapon has survived, but documentation of it has, and reconstructions show that it is possible. It probably was the first pnenuematic weapon in history and it was created about 200-100 B.C. Now thats a good reason to start a Ptolemaic army, that I could paint with that really nice warpaints paintset!
@peacefulwarrior a bit of synchronicity always makes me smile.
awesome name by the way, is it inspired by the book?
The post apocalypse KS was completely pain free, and the Shanty Town Pledge I went for delivers a great atmospheric table for a small skirmish game from the GB Called “Across the Dead Earth”. I would also recommend it for Judge Dredd. The new Sci-Fi sets look awesome, small bands of inter-stellar scavengers on the outer fringe table, looting useful tech to sell elsewhere.
The Army Painter products are what got me to actually finish my Dark Angels from Dark Vengeance to a good tabletop standard. I’m looking forward to seeing the new paints in the flesh, or should I say “in the Barbarian Flesh”, or “in the Tanned Flesh”.
I’m super excited to see the new masterclass and saga books coming out. Have a great weekend!
I love the edge models and love army painter paints but I just bought prospero and want blood bowl… ah the problems of the hobby…
Is it just me or does that alien at the top with its helmet off look like a sillurian from doctor who
Happy weekend indeed! Some great prizes this week!!!
🙂
Happy Weekend!
Between renovating, moving house and renovating more, I’ve had no time to enter the Hobbylab or Hobbyween challenges, though I’ve had great ideas for them. @lancorz Please make sure they run again next year!
The Battlesystems terrain looks amazeballs, I was looking at it thinking “there’s a massive range of options” then you showed it as stand-alone buildings!
I’ve used some of the Army Painter brushes and paint before and been quite pleased with the results. The paint mixes well with other ranges too.
We’ll make sure to keep challenges running all the time if we can 🙂
battle system set is truly awesome, i’ll will need that for a great infinity narrative gameplay.
Blown away by the Battle Systems set. I have zero Sci-fi terrain (ever since my old Necromunda set warped to unusable) and need some for Gates of Antares, this new set looks ideal.
I like paints. Paints are good. So is terrain. Commenting for a chance to win paints and/or terrain.
The Edge crystals remind me of the resource tokens in Monolith’s Conan game. I am liking the additions of this mechanic to minis based board games.
Yeah, I got the same feeling. I don’t follow the board game world that much, is this some sort of a trend?
@guillotine, Yes, there is a shift in design to have less reliance on randomized elements, i.e. dice, and more use of resource management. Higher luck games are often referred to as Ameritrash, whereas low/no luck games are often referred to as Euros. A lot of the early miniature based games were Ameritrash style, but I am seeing more of these large box mini based games moving to Euro style management games.
Argh…. you have cost me more money as have now pledged on Moonstone kickstarter…….
@aea007 you have good taste
Just started using Army Painter and would love that set… 🙂
Lotsa paints…
The Battle System stuff looks nice. It could be used for so many games.
I am with Justin on that travel paint station. That could be useful in many ways. Unfortunately I was looking at it when it first hit Kickstarter and I looked over at the wife. She was scowling at me so hard that I think she caused minor kidney failure in me for a bit. She did that real slow head shake thing, and I pretty much knew that my getting another new toy was not going to happen.
Oh well, good luck to you other people, and if anyone gets it, let me know what I missed out on.
This weeks show gave me a pretty bad case of shiny syndrome
Put some matte varnish on ‘er!
Might have to get that flesh tone wash he mentioned!
Can always count on Warren for a few penis jokes lol
Okay, half way through the battle systems interview and i had to jump over and back it! *sigh* sometimes i hate KS.
Amazing prizes! Amazing stuff!!! Those Battle Systems looks ridiculously good… now I’m sad I didn’t jump in on the fantasy dungeon or urban apocalypse ones as well!!!
The army painter quick dip has completely changed my painting. Contrast is so important in making models pop but doing it on 36 models a time for Napoleonic’s is a nightmare. I can finally get good results quickly and with the little time I actually have that is a godsend. Just for that army painter, thanks. Would love to get that many paints , there are some really nice colours in there to use on all the different models I seem to have collected.
The scenery looks amazing too, the fact you can fit it in a DVD case is great for storage, especially as most of us don’t have the space to hold all the scenery we need to make our games look the part.
Always look forward to the weekender so keep it up guys!
Can we get a picture of the Napoleonics please?
Once again the Battle Systems terrain is stunning. I’m less of a sci-fi man myself, preferring fantasy or post-apoc. But as shown by the picture of the buildings on the grass mat, they work well enough in a post-apocalyptic setting as well. I hope they’ll post some pictures of the shanty town buildings of the previous KS combined with some frontier sci-fi buildings. Like a top secret high tech laboratory hidden in a shanty compound, trying to find the cure for the disease that affected the world and turned most of the population into zombies. Very ‘I am legend’ or ‘The last of us’!
And then that Army Painter set… that will keep you set for a while, at least at the rate I’m getting things painted :-D.
@Warren: I was wondering: what did you do with your previous Battle Systems terrain when it arrived: just threw it together to start gaming, or did you pen/paint the edges and glued them to improve the looks even more and increase longevity?
When I got back into the hobby a few years ago I needed to replace my 20 years old Citadel paint! There was a bunch more manufacturers to choose between and the ranges were really daunting. If I was just painting a Space Marine Chapter then GW would have been the way to go but I wanted a more general selection of colours. Eventually I settled on an Army Painter starter box with a few more colours to fill in the gaps. Mixing the basic colours has covered everything I’ve needed with the odd extra colour added now and then.
I’m looking forward to the new range especially the special effects paint.
I love dropper bottles although I’ve had the occasional issue of paint oozy out when they were upright, I have no idea why I assume it must be something to do with the pressure inside the bottle. Has anyone else experience this?
I like paint.
Paint is awesome.
Lot’s of paint
Makes old bones
Blossom.
Burma Shave,
Still have a starter boxs of hail caesar that I need to put together and paint up. But those new boxes do look nice
I’m thinking about buying a box of Perry Foot Knights and giving them rifles and machine guns and a bazooka and gluing lengths of sprue to them to look like air-tanks. And maybe put some machine gun belts on a few of them.
Happy weekend, very nice show again guys.
and i am always in, to win a nice paint set.
The Battle System Terrains are so could that once you put them on the table is very hard to beleave that they are paper terrain. They are getting better every project.
The terrain in a dvd box idea is such a damn fine idea for gaming clubs. I would love to be able to buy buildings and terrain that packed down that small.
Dropper bottles are a big plus for me, I love my P3 paints but I’m always looking for good dropper bottle paints. Also moonstone has got to be some of the most characterful miniatures I’ve ever seen!
The Mega paint set looks fantastic. Army painter makes the best quality paints. I recently picked up the paint set for the “Others” board game that they did. Great stuff.
Love the battlesystems stuff. How to convince the lady of my life to let me jump on board.lol
The Battle System terrain looks fantastic and would love to back it but I just dropped all of my free cash on Star Saga and have already pre-ordered Angel Giraldez’s new book, but will try and at least get a faction box for The Edge as I really like the Reborn. I love massive paint sets for the simple reason I always have what I need when I need it and don’t have to run to the local store to get what I need which usually interrupts my flow and stop painting for the day.
This stuff looks amazing!
Happy weekend..
I’ve decided that I really don’t fancy the Romans.. I’ll wait for the Gauls. As I’m sure I’ll only need 2 maybe 3 figures to beat those Romans any time.. all thanks to a little gourd of potion 🙂 lol.
Another marvelous weekender,
The Edge looks pretty interesting looking forward to your play through. I am really looking forward to the new Army Painter range as I really like their products.
As to the Scorpion Wiki said:
Design
The scorpio was a smaller catapult-type weapon, more of a sniper weapon than a siege engine, operated by one man. The scorpio was basically an early crossbow, a “catapult with bolts”, probably first invented by the Greeks, then later adopted and used on a larger scale by the Roman legions. This catapult used a system of torsion springs to propel the bolts.
The complexity of construction and in particular the torsion springs (which the Romans referred to as tormenta) led to great sensitivity to any variation in temperature or moisture, which limited their use. Moreover, this type of technology, which disappeared by the High Middle Ages (with the exception of the Byzantine Empire which was the continuation of the Roman Empire in the Middle Ages), reappeared during the First Crusade in the form of a new type of catapult based on a system of slings and counterweights for the projection of stone balls, and as giant crossbows as the field of metallurgy progressed.
Use
During the Roman Republic and early empire, sixty scorpions per legion was the standard, or one for every centuria. The scorpio had mainly two functions in a legion. In precision shooting, it was a weapon of marksmanship capable of cutting down any foe within a distance of 100 meters. During the siege of Avaricum in the war against the Gauls, Julius Caesar describes the terrifying precision of the scorpio.[2] In parabolic shooting, the range is greater, with distances up to 400 meters, the firing rate is higher (3 to 4 shots per minute). With precision shooting the rate of fire was significantly less.
Scorpions were typically used in an artillery battery at the top of a hill or other high ground, the side of which was protected by the main body of the legion. In this case, there are sixty scorpions present which can fire up to 240 bolts per minute at the enemy army. The weight and speed of a bolt was sufficient to pierce enemy shields, and usually also to wound that enemy.
Amazing prizes you guys rock.
I’m just getting back into the hobby after too many years away…
I’m used to using GW paints and finding the latest range to be pretty good, how do the Army Painter ones compare?
Great show.
I will have to have a look at the new paints.
The Battlezone KS is a must anyway (I was a backer in every single one of them).
And the paint rack and Moonstone KS also look interesting.
happy weekend ! big big fan of this session ! the edge + new battle system have me really excited !
Army Painter sets are the beast, I have to say.
Im slowly changing all my paints into those. Brilliant colours which has a great top, to just give you the amount of paint you need, when you need it.
Already getting the Zombie sets, colours to die for.
Great show guys, thanks for giving me more decisions to make.lol
Battle Systems, what can you say about battle systems, if you dont have any you better go out and get some. Brilliant.
you were firing on all cylinders today my friends. great job by everybody.
Justin did a really good overview of the the edge downfall, all the different rule sets you have had to wrestle with is paying off. Don’t let it go to your head though mate or you’ll lose your flow, and i’m all about flow.
The edge downfall has a lot of next generation features but I think they need to change the colour palette a bit. the board and cards need some contrast.
battle systems terrain looks really good. especially as it reminds me of my beloved STAR WARS. I will be interested to see what people make of the army painter sets when they get to use them.
Moonstone is looking amazing, this along with Angels new book are in the bag.
Happy weekend! So excited about the Moonstone KS… sculpts look awesome!
As i travel a lot, the new portable painting system looks cool, of course the alternate solution would be to have the mega-paint set to my parents’ home so i don’t have to carry paints at all.
😛
Great show, best way to spend a Saturday morning.
I really like the return to a paint similar to tinbits. I used this colour back in my youth and it’s never been matched since in my opinion. A lot of the new washes sound great too, they’re going straight on the wishlist.
Really loving the battle systems stuff, that frontier set looks really amazing.
the Battle Systems stuff looks incredible. Would love to play some games on those.
I want some paint for Christmas now 🙂
Too much cool stuff with the Battle Systems Sci-Fi. I would like to see a Sci-Fi world envisaged from a ‘1960’s and 1970’s perspective, where everything looks like it was designed by engineers. Everything is antiseptic and plain looking, with maybe accents of color. Like Rollerball.
Really like the new army painter range.
Great weekender. Some very tempting kickstarter a to consider
I posted my first reply waaay too early.
If battle Systems actually manages to come out with the out buildings that pack in a DVD case, that would simply be apocalyptic to my wallet.
Frankly, the outbuildings are the perfect way to make up either a borderlands style settlement that will have a mix of sci-fi and post apoc buildings, or a fallout style table. That would really be outstanding.
Use the old Mega paint set for the last 18 months, When i went back to paint as a business i had to re-invest in a paint set and this was on our local shop shelf and fit in perfect at the time. This Xmas im sooooooo wanting to get the Full set to continue using them
Defiantly agree that this terrain would be unreal for Kill Team….. Count me in
The armypainter set looks great. I would love to use it on my new Halo ground command UNSC army. The new military shader would be great for the Wharthogs and Scorpion tank. I still like the name cool blue but voidshield blue will do. 🙂
Happy weekend (post family meetings iv finally managed to complete my morning routine with bow weekender (and a beer)) Iv never used army painter other than the dark tone dip, im at the moment flipping between my slowly drying out GW paints (which im continually thinning to suck each last drop of life out of, Damn then crappy lids!!) and tamiya paints which work great in a my airbrush but i find difficult to manipulate with a brush, I keep passing an eye to the army painter range which i hear good things about 🙂
Awaken Realms…..mmmmm nom nom nom ….
Happy Weekend Everyone. The paints look great as done the Battle Systems stuff.
i realy love the army painter paints to wen that would be dream come true so crossing fingers.
Very nice weekender. Haven’t watched them in a while, but since I’m on both Star Saga and Sci-Fi II by battle systems I thought to check in.
Very good show. And nice prizes! Holy Hashut!
Battle Systems sets look awesome. I really Army Painter paints and accessories really good customer service too.
Another cracking show guys. Keep up the good work
The portable painting station is really handy. I paint on the dining room table and put everything back in the shed when I’m done. With this I would just put it down on the table and start painting. I especially like the daylight lamp with it.
Happy weekend!
Damn! With the new Battlesystems KS, i can now see my wallet shrinking! I was not going to back this (still haven’t finished assembling the 1st sci-fi kit, thanks to AVP still not coming home…) but, i like where this one is going. Not sure yet on what style (can’t afford both!).
Army painter: this will be my Christmas gift to myself (the mega bundle), unless i win it 😉 and i will pick up a few of the effects paint later on.
See you tomorow
Army painter seems to be coming of age…. used there basis stuff for years now to good effect. It looks like I will need to invest into the extended range. I assume there will be more guides for the use of the new Paints?
Good show as always guys…
I like BattleSystems, I wish they would team up with board games producers to make 3d terrain for some board games.
I like the Army Painter Quick Shades, works great for when an army absolutely needs to be done quickly. I am looking forward to the flat back buildings from BattleSystems.
So looking forward to more battlestarter, been fiddling with my shanty town recently and wishing id sprung for a cityblock too!
Like the look of the Battle Systems terrain and the ease of storage is great.
I have fully backed Moonstone after getting their firespitter model, I’m also in for Arcworlde and dark age starters sets. Going for battle systems as I don’t have time to make my own scenery anymore, so paints would be useful
Did @warzan have a stroke after announcing their need to hire a new team member? He started rambling and making up words then poof back to normal. I am a bit worried about him. 😉
the new SAGA expansion looks very cool, and just in time
Ima jus out this roight here… 😉
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YcbDWymsyP0
Blaster was here… & loved the show!
You hooked me on the Battle Systems!
I usually use Vallejo and Scale 75, does anyone have any idea how Army Painter stuff compares? It looks great and I’ve been looking for a new set.
The middle range set for army painter sounds perfect for me. I agree the dropper tips do last better for the paint.
I know it was a quick blurb, but I’m super excited about the new Hail Caesar stuff. I’d love for Warlord to do some early Republic Romans eventually.
Both Agema and Victrix do some nice Republic figures
http://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=6166
great show as always guys.
thinking of the incomming dropfleet kickstarter reward box and my dismal paint collection I think I’d have to pick that paint set.
The Battlesystem terrain would be great for Necromunda when its re-released.
That paintset would be a mighty weapon to paint all my miniatures (Zombicide Black Plague, Human Interface Nakamura Tower, Batman the Miniature game, and some others such as space marines from games workshop).
Mrs PK is not a gamer but she loves Pandemic because we play together against the game. Its quick, fun and difficult as hell, but so enjoyable.
I think the terrain set would be good for Judge Dredd and SLA Industrial too
Both Agema and Victrix do dome nice Roman repu lic figures
http://www.northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=6166
Very nice paint set!
yay the weekender nice one guys.
I think I just may have to pop my kickstarter cherry on the battle system stuff. It looks simply amazing. I think that large paint set has more colour choice than all the local hobby stores combined. It is really fantastic.
I do hope the makers of the painting station give a percentage to killian as they look very familiar to the one he made for himself a while back.
This was truly an excellent episode.
Paint, I needs more Paints…
Serious overlooking of Diemension Games *Deep Madness* Kickstarter tho!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/diemensiongames/deep-madness/description
Blaster was here… & is Deep into the Madness!
Oh, I do like the new sci fi terrain kickstarter from Battle Systems. I got in on their first two kickstarters and really love the product. I see they’ve moved away from the bulkhead style walls. Makes sense, though will have to figure out some transitions for old to new wall styles.
Also, the Army Painter paint set is such an Awesome prize! Good luck everybody!
I am a poor orphan, give me a paint set…(cough)
Happy Saturday,
I have been using Army Painter for over 2 years now. I have tried Citadel and Vallejo as well, but I only own Army Painter now. Citadel paints dried up quite fast and I don’t have that problem with Army Painter. I love the Army Painter products and I will keep using them.
Battle systems has once again outdone themselves with another great kickstarter. This seems like the perfect terrain to improve my Deadzone games. I can see a great battle between my Marauders and Plague on this amazing terrain. Good luck on the kickstarter!
Another great weekender guys. I have just started to use the army painter Quikshade strong tone. Brilliant product which is going to save me so much time.
Happy Weekend! As always the Battle Systems Terrain is amazing! Great Show as always 🙂
Really intrigued by the army painter range. I’m a batch painter and all the dips and was he’s look really good.
I can’t believe it, what a massive bonus
BOW give the chance to win the paints made by Jones
Oh Warzan please read out my name
Naked no more, my minis dressed for the game
Imagine winning a complete set of Army Painter
Just as well I’m not a shy retiring fainter
You guys are always nice companions on a saturday night.
Just getting back into painting that set would leave me no excuses not to paint all the grey stuff I have lying around. 🙂
And the battle system have been looking so good since the last time they were around BoW towers a few years back (if I remember correctly). Could this be the moment that I actually could get some games on at my own place instead of invading my friends basements all the time.
Cheers for keeping us entertained and informed, time to look forward to sunday night with you guys.
I am a Sculptor that has started painting miniatures. I have been practicing my painting skills on some lesser miniatures (green army men) with some cheap craft paint. I could really take my painting to the next level with that outstanding paint set. There is an Infinty William Wallace that needs a good quality paint job. This set could do that miniature some justice.
I could use that Army Painter set. My paints are getting old.
Happy Weekend!
The new Battlesystems Terrain looks awesome, let’s see if I can convince me not to back it…
I just gave my old army painter set to a friend who was just getting back into mini painting. I miss a few of those pots.
Some of the CMoN Zombicide Black Plague minis were heavily influenced by the Monty Python characters. Not sure if they were KS exclusives but funny stuff.
happy weekend paint fans
The giant paint set or the Battle Systems terrain, either would be a dream gift for a hobbyist! I already have a large amount of Army painter but more would just allow me more freedom to experiment. Throw some new colors on a mini, test out a new army scheme.
The Battle systems terrain is just the perfect table in a box, works for almost every scifi game. Infinity, works great. Mercs easily. ETC…
Gods that Battlesystems stuff looks good…
You actually got me to go on wikipedia and spend half an hour reading about scorpions bolt throwers. Well done.
You should check Deep Madness Ks, quite promising one
That’s more paint then I’d know what to do with. They’d be no excuse for leaving half finished minis around the house the that mountain of tools on hand.
I’m thinking adapting Star Saga beta rules for using the Battle Systems kits.
I wonder how well the battle systems terrain works with other types of terrain — I would imagine that it could be a little visually jarring having painted kit alongside printed board.
Does it interact well or is it more standalone?
insane terrain! Battle systems have kicked it out of the park!
Paints look awesome
Loved the battle systems interview. Would love to jump in on this KS but with my shantytowns x2 still only part built and the Stoic Arms incoming I think the wife would kill me! Still chuckling at the “forgot more things about stars wars than most people know comment
Also I’d echo comments about GW paints I remember using them when in my early teens (I’m 40 on the 24th btw) and the current range seem to dry out quickly. This is rose tinted glasses either, about 10 years ago I found my old GW paints, so they were pushing 20 years old by that point and they were still useable but the range now don’t even seem to last a few months!
Battle Systems are currently my Zone Mortalis table and this new Kickstarter will blow my current set up out of the water. Some of the best terrain on the market, that can be easily transportable. The new neoprene mat is baller.
Not used the AP paints, I can remember there were problems with coverage with certain colours (I know the Yellows were one). But this change since they first came out. How are you finding the coverage on AP paints these days?
The Battle Systems terrain looks great
The army painter ultimate set and the portable painting station are a match made in heaven, I just need to off load my other paints on to my eldest son and then the persuade the wife that these are an investment !!!
Awesome terrain as always, great to have another of Angel’s great books but as far as the paint set is concerned i’m not sold, when you have been painting for a losn you already have most of the colours and it is much cheaper just to buy what you need.
The terrain looks beautiful.
Love the painting station at the end.
Love the painting station at the end of the show
Great show, the new paint set looks great.
I like the new look of The Edge. I backed the original Kickstarter and did quite a bit of work with Awaken Realms in editing the background stories and the rule book for the previous version. Since I’ve had my copy (original) since early this year, I can say the miniatures are every bit as great in the flesh as they look on the website. I’ve been using them as painting projects which I dip into every now and again. My Angel of Death is in the What Are You Painting Now thread this week so if you’d like to see the results a mere mortal can get, here’s that girl:
http://www.beastsofwar.com/groups/painting/forum/topic/what-are-you-painting-now-1/?topic_page=267#post-180371
I took photos of the miniatures all built up and posted them here back in January:
http://www.beastsofwar.com/groups/painting/forum/topic/the-edge-kickstarter-miniatures/
I’ve painted a few since then so if anyone wants to see, feel free to give me a nudge and I’ll add some more painted versions to that thread.
The new version looks slicker – really like where they’ve gone with it.
Thanks lads for this, I have tried so hard to resist battlesystems based on the arguement that it”s fragile and it will take too long to put together…………..looks like I was wrong on both counts. I first used army painter paints earlier this year , it was very nice, and effective, i think i am going to at least get the 10 paint beginner set soon too play with then some more . One question though … I may take the plunge into playing with an airbrush over the next year …. How do army painter pains go in an airbrush???
and jeez The Edge and moonstone minis are pretty …….what a great week. Cheers
The new Army Painter range looks incredible. I tend to buy Citadel paints, as that’s what my local hobby store stocks and I try to support them as much as possible, but I think I might have to pick up that Mega Paint set!
A great weekender guys – Have a great Halloween!
My main question is is the new Kick starter fully compatible withe their first one
I kind of liked Angel’s first book, but I’m on the fence about this one. I don’t know if I have much use for a really Infinity-specific book. But since I don’t care about the preorder bonus mini in any case, I can wait and see what the reviews say.
Happy weekend! The Battle system sets look awesome, I see many battle boards getting built in the future with these systems. The army painter set is every painters dream, great prize. Great show guys, and also I hope @warzan noticed the clear basis being used on the miniatures used to show off the battle system set. He was looking for them on last weekend’s show. Happy gaming.
Ohhh…Nice!…Have known Jonas for a long time here i Denmark and are very happy to see him having succes with all the hobby things in The Army Painter! Those days at Giant Fanatic were a blast!!
Love using the ink washes for many of my minies! Can only recommend them for others!!
I am going to add some army painter sets to my xmas list
the has seam to change from a tabletop game to a bit of a board game since I back the first kickstarter. And I need to start using the battlesystem kickstarter I already but see the using them with this lot
Yes to all the Paints!!!
always use army painter paints love the packaging and well worth it for all round colour pallet
I have been struggling to find ideas to by himself for a Christmas present idea then thought that’s sorted it, win an army painter mega paints set yeppeeeeee!
Thanks guys Christmas is all sorted now, tree to buy nearer the time, just need to buy more hobby stuff for meeeeee! let the festive joy begin 🙂
Great show again guys.
I have missed the Battle Systems stuff till now as I wasn’t looking for their kind of terrain previously. However, I have recently got into Infinity and am seeing a lot of their buildings (and even the corridor terrain) in a new light. I suspect I will connect with them on Kickstarter.
That’s what I love about this show – always something to think about.
I liked the army painter warpaints so much that i got their previous mega paint set. You can never have too many mega paint sets right!?
Would love to get hold of that Army Painter set, so useful! 🙂
Another great show guys.
The Army painter range is great, I never had any problem with their paints. That’s what I’m using to teach my daughter how to paint and she’s now a big fan of the dropper bottles.
All the new products added look very intersting and I’m really looking forward to trying some of them.
The Battle Systems new stuff is purely jawdropping.
I think my KS account is going to smoke, right after Star Saga, it’s almost a must buy ;-).
It would be great with Deadzone too I bet.
I think the “DVD boxed buildings” is just a genius idea.
Will it be unlocked during the KS? Or is it out already?
My wallet is going to hurt A LOT after watching this episode…
I like paint and weekenders!
That high density terrain from Battle Systems would be great for any city campaigns.
That Battle Systems terrain looks ace. My available hobby time is limited due to family and work obligations so stuff like this really helps out. Pre-painted terrain is the future! Well… for me at least 😉
Lovely paint set from Army Painter and Edge is looking good
Happy weeekend to everyone:-) another fun show. I am heading off to Kickstarter 😉
Man, I wouldn’t have to buy paint for years with that set. That would be nice…
Absolutely loved this show.
So many goodies to look over.
The new army paints and the battlesystems terrain are great.
Wish I had the money for them and the kickstarters shown.
Fold/pack away paint stands are awesome.
It’s a 50/50 gamble, either I get a terrain set where I can play with my unpainted miniatures, or I get a tool to paint them all but nothing to place them on. Or maybe nothing (giggles).
But then I don’t know about you, but I’m glad to give away the paint set to somebody else. But only together with my unpainted miniatures, so that I could get them back painted. BTW. If somebody fancies doing that for me, I would have no problems with it. John or Justin you don’t have some free time?
Man I’m so hooked into this hobby thanks to Battle Systems. Got a good bunch from their last KS of the Urban Apocalypse and didn’t even had the chance to play with someone yet. I’ve spent so much time in painting some custom armies for a custom ruleset to play along with the BS terrain. But for some reason I lack the right people to play with 🙁 But anyhow, BS rocks and so does BoW. Always fun to watch and get more into the hobby.
Hi, another great show – Army Painter product are great to work with and I like the range of colours. Battle Systems tabeltop scenery is gerat – I still have their Shanty town to make up. something to do the next rainy day 🙂
I’m a huge fan of Battle System’s previous KS projects, having used them extensively in my games, both for interior and exterior, individual buildings, set ups. The new sets seem to solve some of the previous challenges when building exterior scenes and making interiors even more interesting.
The battle system terrain looks awesome, but I find it too expensive.
Really excited to try out they new paints, Battlesystem looks amazing in for 2 on kickstarter 🙂
I have a bunch of Bolt Action minis waiting to be painted. Those Army Painter paints sure could come in handy!
i love watching interviews with colin, he seems like one of the nicest guys in the industry and his stuff looks absolutely incredible.
now that’s a paint range i definitely need to have!!
Another great weekend cause another great episode!
About paint bundle is quite interesting but Also for begginers due veteran hobbiests sometimes have most of a color reference from a manufacturer, un my case model color is almost finish es 165 count, and gane color has near 50 tones so almost al ranges completes.
Even though is a great purchase too and always is cool try something new!!
Finally this weeken i tríed team yanke and get a blast on 120points of soviets, o mg how many platons do they play… Bufff!
Okay I feared for my wallet when I saw the army painter mega set and then you bring out ‘The Edge’. I fear BOW will be citied in my divorce!!!!!!!
Playing catch up again this weekend. The Hobbyween entries are looking good, I’m liking that ducking stool a lot it will make a nice Vignette for the games table.
The Battle systems terrain just gets better with each release, it’s almost a hobby in its own right now.
Some lucky person will be having a grand clearout of their old paint stock if they come up trumps with the Army painter prize. I use their washes but have still to try the dips.
The release date for the new Saga supplement is next year then ? In that case I think we can expect a timely arrival for Salute. I’ll put it on my shopping list.
Great show guys. Now for the XLBS
I painted a whole army of GW tomb kings with the army painter dip method. I even dipped the chariots. While it was not the best painted army ever, it looked pretty good and was done quicker than I have ever painted before in my life. It was actually pretty satisfying to get an army painted so quickly.
I have ~3 stronghold sets from the last sci fi kickstarter, the last thing I need is more sci fi terrain. And yet, I’ve pledged for 2 more strongholds…
Great to see some established companies expanding both their ranges and as businesses. Both the Army Painter and Battle Systems new products look like great steps forward.
I love Army Painter, this looks fantastic.
Hold on… what’s that on the TV stand? It reminds me of an old card game I had that depicted WHF models.
Army Painter is a great paint range. I orinally bought the orginal Mega Paint set a few years ago. They are very impressive, not one paint disappointed. With that experience and being a Zombicide Black Plague backer, I picked up all of those sets too.
So as a Battle Systems and Army Painter fan, this episode was pretty great for me. I was backing Battle Systems on KS already (just missed out on an early bird…), but good to hear more about the new Army Painter stuff – I’ve already got the old complete set, so wont be needing to buy another big set from them (but would quite happily take another as a prize :p), but I’ll definitely be picking up some of the new colours and some of the technical and effects stuff to try out 🙂
My Flgs have just stopped selling army painter, not many people buy it here. so now its only gw paints for sale. It would be awesome to get my hands on a mega paint set now that I cannot get it locally anymore
Damn, the paint set looks awesome!
Ballistae are the group which the scorpion belonged to and it was one man one target weapon much the the insect. Other ballistae were more powerful and larger use for sieges the scorpion was for battles.
The Battle Systems sets packing down into DVD cases is a fantastic idea – making storage and transportation so simple – certainly compared to my 3d printed terrain 🙂 I would love to try combining the two…
I have to say though, a complete paint set is so tempting 🙂
Great episode! 🙂
I’ve been looking at this kickstarter and thinking I can’t wait until next year to get this awesome stuff. I think you guys have sold me on getting the original scifi set from battle systems now. Later I will probably buy the new set when it comes out at retail. This will really make Deadzone look absolutely epic. Wonderful looking product.
Am I the only one who likes to pay attention to how the background of the studio changes? Where did those pigs come from? What is Darth Vader holding? Sometimes he’s holding it, sometimes he’s not?
I can imagine Warren sneaking into the studio in the wee hours to sneak stuff into the shot. haha
That Battlesystems terrain is just so cool, it would be great for so many things.
Great show as always guys, thanks.
I have the first battle systems SciFi terrain. Really happy with it. If anyone is still on the fence, I can only encourage to get into that kickstarter.
My weekend is now complete.
Moonstone looks amazing, and some battle systems terrain would go down a treat too
My local store owner would be sad, if I could win that paint prize! 😀
I really love the direction the Battle System guys are going with their terrain Its affordable and very good quality. I backed the first 3 and intend to back this one too.
The Battle System terrain looks amazing. That would be great for Infinity ot MERCS games. But what really got me was that Army painter bundle. That looks perfect as it contains all the paints I usually need plus some extra. But alas the price is a bit steep for one time purchase, at least for me right now 🙁
Loving the look of the new Army Painter stuff (have been following the progression). I;ve been slowly replacing all my old GW paints with the Army Painter range…..this would give me a chance to move it all over in one go.
the idea of the battle system building in dvd case is perfect
Not tried Army Painter paints yet. Love their primers and washes though.
Wish I had the money for that terrain, looks incredible.
Working on selling the idea of flatpack scenery as a huge space saver in a way to get permission to buy multiple Battle System pledges….met with response of ‘only if you throw everything else away’….now working on how to hide multiple pieces of glued HDF ruins…..
Interesting to see the Army Painter sets, they may well have to go on future Christmas lists. I have to say I’ve had good experiences with Army Painter. A while back a pair of their clippers broke, after sending them a picture they replaced them without hesitation.
The paint station looks good too. I must stop watching BOW, you’ll bankrupt me.
Need to invest in something to agitate the dropper bottles. I love them but have the same issue of not mixing very well for a while. Would love to get all these warpaints so I can make the switch all at once to Army painter!!
Great show the new paint set looks awesome
Win!!!
man i do like the look of that Sci fi set!
unfortunately a little tight on the fundage to back the KS – but would rather a set of the Fantasy stuff for mordheim/Frostgrave!!
The Battlesystems terrain pack looks so versatile. Can do indoor and outdoor, plus this new design is a perfect middle of the road between the clean high sci fi of something like star trek and the beat up space western of firefly. I’d also love to build it as a vault from Fallout and play This is Not a Test on it! Hunt for the Vault Tec 🙂
I do not know how you all feel about it, but I always thought large paint sets are the most inspiring thing to improve painting! The fact that you can choose between tons of options of paint does help you go new routes!!!
Great show
Sven
Taken a while to get to watch this.
I’m still using vallejo game colour paints from about 8 years ago so winning a whole set of new awesome stuff would go down a treat.
This is a repsonse to the XLBS, but I want the shot at the prizes from this video.
In the XLBS Justin said he still hasn’t touched an airbrush and you want to help people get over their fear of airbrushes. Please start a series of videos following Justin taking airbush lessons. Not staged, like the Infinity vidoes, but actually videoing uis first attempt while an instructor offers advice. Something like the Parts to painted series. Can also do video diaries between lessons of Justin showing off his practise stuff and saying what hes learned and figured out since the lesson.
I do not need that huge paint set, but maybe it should go on the christmas list anyway…
Thank you for giving us a chance to win! Fingers crossed….
Army painter is no more an alternative. It is THE range and THE way of painting minis. So great to see the range expanding like that.
Really enjoyed the show again guys! Great to look at all that terrain however I find myself going onto the website rather than kickstarter to check out the fantasy stuff, amazing!!
Great show as always, had to get a comment in as these prizes are epic!
Would love to win those paints
I’m really excited by the new kickstarter The Edge. It seems to be a great game.
That Mega Paint set looks nice. Army Painter has really expanded it’s range of options. I really need to try out their ‘Army Painter’ method. I have so many unpainted miniatures that need some color =/
Oh man, Oh man!! Winning that paint set would be amazing!! Would definitely give me a reason and kick in the pants to get painting again.
Great range of paints.
That Moonstone Kickstarter looks great – I’m too poor to back it but I’ll definitely be sticking in $1 to get updates for when it eventually releases. If nothing else the models look like great painting projects.
Great Show. I wish you would occasionally consult a historian about history though. I involuntarily wince occasionally when you guys talk about history.
Speaking of which Arthurian Age Saga could be amazing. This is the end of the Roman Age and start of the Dark Ages (roughly the 5th Century AD, nearly 500 years after Caesar). It is the catastrophic loss of thinking and innovation in Europe, To put the Dark Ages in perspective, the Renaissance (Re-birth) began 500 years ago. It had roughly the same technological levels as the Roman Empire at it’s height, which had been roughly 1000 years before. So if we’d skipped the Dark Ages, we’d could possibly have reached the moon in 950 AD and Justin could be riding a cloned wooly mammoth.

The new paints by army painter look great. definitely rivals for Vallejo and GW, and the carry cases seemed perfectly timed!
hiho,
the terrain looks very nice but i don’t know if its playable which is look like.
i am not a fan of this highwalls for e.g. dungeoncrawlers or terrain, because you can’t reach the minis so easy. i like the half high or better 1/3 high so you see the walls and you can reach the minis easily.
i need the armypainter mega paint set, i like the armypainter colours, with a little water you can spray them very good.

I really like the concept of rust effect paints by Armypainter. So many uses – weathering on my bolt action tanks or ageing my KOW undead.
I went in on the last Battlesystems KS for the post apocalyptic terrain set and couldn’t be happier. When they announced the new sci-fi set I jumped on in the 1st day. i think this stuff will be perfect for the Star Wars Imperial Assault games I run at my game club
I backed the Dungeon KS and used it loads. Best used once main dungeon area set up and and just change the outer regions. Love the idea of this new KS with Kill Team. That paint set would go a long way to filling the holes in my paint collection. Xmas list getting filled by the one episode.
Warpaints I would be happy to try out.
Happy hunt to all.
Using warpaints for years now, good product overall.
Their paintbrushes, not so much.
Wow! Those moonstone mini’s look terrific! Maybe I can get my friends to pledge with me 😀
The new paint range from armypainter sounds great! Looking forward to the first experiences with the paint and if it holds up to all the other paint manufacturers who are out there.
Battle systems terrain is fantastic I backed the shanty town kickstarter great for so many games, Warren check out the suburban house for walking dead
I have the fantasy dungeon from battle systems and their stuff is just awesome.
Just getting back into painting and now understand why there needs to be so many shades … looks like a great range
I’ll have to check out army painters effect paints.
The Battle Systems terrain look great. It could be fun making an alternativ “Space Hulk” game by using their terrain systems.! And the The Army Painter new colors looks really nice. I have always been a big fan of their paints 🙂
I was never a fan of dropper bottle paints until recently when I started playing around with using a wet palette. Now I love them. They don’t dry out as easy, I don’t get paint on my shirt from opening the bottles, they store easier. I couldn’t be happier seeing Army Painter expand their line, and I hope they do well with it.
I love Army Painter paints, I have every color (except the ones for The Others), and I’m looking forward to the new tones!!!! I would love to win this one!
I can’t wait to get my hands on that sweet terrain
Nice paint set!
/Fingers crossed. I am just about to buy my first paint set and that army painter set would be amazing! those Edge Miniatures looked really good as well. So many KSers I need a better job!
Good call by Army Painter, new colours are useful but I think my desk would collapse under there new full range.
Just getting started in the wargaming realm with Dreadball being my gateway game. And it was Warren’s Dreadball Academy that got me going.
I want that Army painter set so bad!!
Now all I have to do is learn how to paint. LOL
If I were to lose all my paints and buy a new paint set right now this is probably it. Its a very good looking range!
Late to the party, been away at Ardacon for LOTR/Hobbit SBG Tournament! Amazing prize!
Awaken Realms made a great game!
Happy……. Saturday before Happy Sunday, any way you know what i mean love the Battlsystems bit…that is some thing that is going on my Christmas list and so will be the Mega Paint set….well that’s if i don’t win it…lol….great show again Lads..keep it up.
Loving the look of The Edge but as I am currently backing the Battlesystems Kickstarter it is unlikely I will be able to also back The Edge. As for Army Painter their quickshade technique has allowed me to field more painted miniatures at a much faster rate. than before. So I am glad to see expansions to their range.
Recently picked up the Army Painter Mega set; before the new colors were added, but that’s OK. Looking forward to trying them out when some Kickstarter minis start to roll in. Angel’s second book will be great to see, as long as I approach it for inspiration rather than saying, “Crud, I will never be that good, so why bother.” 😉
Hi everyone, just discovered the site and everything. Sooo many things to read now… Hello from Belgium and good luck to all for the contest! Participating for the Battle systems terrain, I’ve the first Sci-fi terrain and it’s so easy. Have a nice day, all!
Loving the new Sci Fi KS from Battlesystems. The Frontier set should blend in great with the Post Apocalyptic set I got in the last KS.
Great show guys, I will be a backer for the Battle System kickstarter. And seeing the new line of Army Painter reminds I need to get some more paints and get back to my painting.
A whole new mega kit would be a nice addition… I would have to purchase a couple more bags of ceramic beads for that extra shake+rattle. Army Painter paints have worked very well using my airbrush setup too… makes painting large areas of terrain much easier, isn’t as off-putting as traditional rattle cans.
I still have some pdfs I purchased from early battle systems off of drivethrurpg that worked pretty decent for Space Hulk and Incursion; the newer line they have looks a little too bright for my prefs – almost Borderlands shading style. It would be nice if some of the larger floor and wall elements were embossed/stamped with a little texture relief; however I imagine that would add some more costs to the project…
Those new army painter sets are awesome. I’m planning on getting the 50 paint set… but the 124 is just calling to me… own me, ooooown meeeee.
Really impressed
I am completely captivated by the color match system that Army painter uses between its sprays and bottles. The whole ability to use a color spray primer and then be able to paint and correct over-stepping mistakes with a matching color sounds like heaven.
That would cut down on work time and advance my painting appearance by leaps and bounds!!
The Army painter set has everything I need
just pledged for the kickstarter looks awsome. happy weekender
Battle Systems terrain is a beauty!
I’m not sure if it’s good or bad that there’s so many kickstarters out there complimenting each other. I bought in to the Walking Dead kickstarter, and then decided that Battle System’s urban apocalypse kickstarter would go great with that. Later I jumped into the Warpath one, and now I can’t help but think I need all this sci-fi terrain.
My wallet will be empty, but at least my tables will look great.
Amazing looking terrain and very much welcome 🙂
The Megapaint set is amazing!
seriously guys! Youve shouldnt show things like that amazeballs BattleSystems terrain. My better half just informed me that shes gonna beat the living snot out of me if im gonna buy another KS
Sooo wanting to get me one of those new army painter sets, lovely paints 🙂
The carry case looks wicked!
As for the paint sets I will have to ask santa for a set and if I don’t get one his raindeer are getting painted nurgle colours lol

Paint bundle look great, lots of great colors. I still ude old citadel paints. But who knows mayby this is the time to start use new one
I managed to grab one of the Early BIrd sets over on the Battle Systems Kickstarter. Lucky me!
