The creators of Oathsworn: Into The Deepwood, the hit cooperative adventure board game, are going to be launching their next project. Prepare to dive into a different style of board game in Avalon: The Riven Veil which is due to launch on crowdfunding soon from Shadowborne Games.

Avalon The Riven Veil - Shadowborne Games

Avalon: The Riven Veil // Shadowborne Games

Avalon is a one-to-four-player board game based on Arthurian legend. You'll take control of one of the mighty factions battling over control of the mystical isle of Avalon. In the background for this game, Arthur and Mordred feel at Camlann Field and when Arthur's body is taken to Avalon, Mordred's body follows. Now the veil has lifted and there is a clash over the lands as you look to secure the kingdom and look for relics and artefacts.

The game will come with an array of stunning plastic miniatures representing the different factions battling for control of Avalon. There are both these valiant warriors fighting to honour the mighty Arthur and these dark foes allied to Mordred.

The game has been designed by Jamie Jolly who did a sterling job with Oathsworn so it will be interesting to see what has been tweaked to update the classic area control board game mechanics. It also features wonderful artwork from the likes of Pedro Nuñez and Aitor Sebastián.

We should be catching up with the team from Shadowborne at UK Games Expo this year, finding out more about the game and what they have planned. As someone who is quite a fan of the Arthurian myths and legends, I'm interested in taking a closer look.

Will you be keeping an eye out for more on Avalon: The Riven Veil?
