Sea Cove Games and designers Christoph Cantzler and Sebastian Freudenberg are going to be looking to see if they can reunite the empire of Charlemagne in a new board game coming this year, Carolingi.

Carolingi - Sea Cove Games

Carolingi // Sea Cove Games

Set against the winter of 830, the realm that Charlemagne built is under threat by his son, Louis The Pious. There is competition for the throne and it's going to be up to you to see if you can knit it all back together and establish some peace throughout the empire.

Carolingi Gameplay - Sea Cove Games

Carolingi Gameplay // Sea Cove Games

You will take on the role of one of the grandchildren of Charlemagne, the Carolingi. The game is split into four quarters with each quarter asking the players to add their wooden action tiles to a bag. They will draw these and dive into a mix of innovative actions that will help you look to command different regions and come out on top.

If you're interested in getting your head around the rules of this rather classic-looking Euro board game, you can check them out HERE. The game will include a competitive version but also a semi-cooperative version if you'd prefer to keep things a little less cutthroat!

Could you be tempted to dive into Carolingi later this year?
