It’s the Weekender!
Aristeia! New stuff from Corvus Belli is always of interest to me. I’ve managed to stay on top of Aristeia! and it’s new additions. I’m looking forward to what comes next in 2019.
The ‘Grav StuG’ from – Dreamforge looks like a keeper to me. In fact I’ve backed it twice now. I hope it meets it’s goal this time. I think it’s a great looking model and I think would be welcome in many gamers collections.
Clash Of Spears – The new rules for Ancient Wargaming look interesting. With the focus of their games wanting to make a “pure wargame” without cards and battle-boards is maybe a return to basics? I think there is room for different styles of gaming. I know a lot of folks think that the new games with the cards for units is all the rage but it doesn’t have to be the only way to game.
I have an issue with the StuG. OK – I’ll yield that we can imagine there’s a way of making it levitate… but when it fires, wouldn’t the recoil send it flying backwards? 😉
1) GW has a grav tank, have you questioned that tanks viability? ☺
2) We’re talking an alternative timeline with equipment based on science that never has existed in our timeline.
3) If you need our reality to play well with their reality then possibly….
…..A) Super powerful Gyroscopes “like devices” that some how lock into the gravitational force of the planet and essentially lock it in place for activation of the weapon.
4) Is the weapon throwing projectiles like 1940’s Stugs? Or is it a “Lazer” weapon?
5) Possibly it has stability legs that extend from beneath and stab into the soil for each shot. Then retract for movement.
The possibilities are endless if one uses their imagination. After all, OTT is the land of ‘make beileve’ so let’s all enjoy the fun of a cool vehical and make beileve together! ?
Yeah…OK!
But we both know we would want to be at the test range for early iterations when someone realised that picking off Newton’s Laws in order was fine when they were working on levitation and movement, but they probably should have considered the third law before test firing the gun…
P.s. We all know that anything GW is fantastical nonsense!
this might help… I talk about how it works in my eyes. https://youtu.be/UFjTAkIfV2w?t=1004
I like the look of clash of spears. I think I mentioned before that it looks like it has some hidden movement in it which I haven’t seen since Vis Bellica. I have been experimenting with multiple 10mm figures on a 2p for sabot purposes so I can use them for many games
Happy weekend all 😀
Looking forward to the show, up early and plenty of hobby to do while watching!
It’s my rotation on the fleet and I’m so happy that the moon isn’t in the way of my reception.
Happy Weekend!!!
starting the weekend in great way!! cheers!!
that is just one amazing prize!! I need that model for my emperors children army
happy weekend you guys!!! I will get some paint on my models while I watch this weekender
Yay for the Weekender! That Keeper of Secret is fantastic – might be the centrepiece model for my demonic host.
Gerry’s beard has been attacked by a lawnmower, but the best thing about beards is they grow back!
Re the Floaty Stug, I think it is a couple of years too late as the clamour for not-GW and massive sci-fi games doesn’t seem as strong. I do hope it funds as it would be great to see Dreamforge get back on track and more plastic sci-fi kits can’t be a bad thing.
Thank you, gents, for the shout out! Very much appreciated.
I hope the Grav Stug Kickstarter is a success, though I am disappointed that this (and all the other absolutely amazing Dreamforge models) will not be available retail. Or have I misunderstood Mark somehow? So far I have only bought Dreamforge kits from my FLGS – the awesome Battlefield Berlin.
Anyway, I agree with Justin – the Levithan Titan is a truly State-of-the-Art kit – I added some ForgeWorld brass Inquisition iconography to make Mine Part of my Grey Knights Army.
The Kellerkopf APC is also a beautifully designed kit – I painted mine in Armageddon Camo pattern as part of my Steel Legion army. I had hoped there would be a cheaper version made available, e.g. without all the interior extras, to be able to afford to use these as my troop transports instead of the boring old Chimera. But, as I only have one Kellerkopf APC, this is my Steel Legion command vehicle.
I only have one of the troop kits – the support teams with the mortar, autocannon etc and to these I added Pig Iron gasmasks heads.
Happy Weekend folks!!
Great start to the weekend as usual. Just spent 40 mins creating a mini on hero forge!! Great fun and a super cool step in the miniature hobby experience.
Enjoy your weekend guys and see you on the XLBS tomorrow! 🙂
crazy kahjiits from the future loooooooooooooooooool
The Spring Cleaning challenge might be the chance I’ve been holding off for to dust off my 6th edition Dark Elves minis that I painted around 16 years ago when I just go into tabletop. Coupled with the release of the new Slaanesh minis it gives me the chance to create a Cult of Slaanesh force like I always wanted to back during one of the old Games Workshop summer campaigns. Storm of Chaos I think it was called.
It can be hard to track members of the Praetorian guard down Gerry… cos they’re always Roman around.
Happy Saturday!
Happy weekend, everyone! 😀 😀 😀
Not a bad Kickstarter in the whole selection today which is very cool to see.
Have a pile o shadowspear to paint, might as well start now.
Got my pledge set up for the monster terrain!!
Welcome aboard the Ben & Gerry bandwagon @dignity, it’s a pleasure to see you here 😛
It’s the Weekend!!
A bit late this morning as I’m waking up away from home after a late night of gaming. Is it rude to pretend to still be asleep while I watch the weekender under the covers?
The Hero Forge stuff just gets better and better. Really love their approach and the options are fantastic.
Bloodborne looks tempting but someone needs to add an extra 6 hours every day to create the additional time I need to play/paint/model all of my hobby stuff. I’ve come to realise that you can spread yourself too thin….
I can imagine Ben’s Weekly review with Warren…
“Ben, I’m disappointed with you mate, you’ve only said ‘on the tabletop’ 56 times this episode… I expect the standard 100+ next week mate”
???
Thanks for the show!
Great show. The STUG from Dream Forge looks great.
Hope they SyFi up an English tank as well. My Imperial guard army is based on an English army.
Hope they get this one funded first.
I could see a floaty Cromwell working!
I figured out the answer to the Shadowborne Games riddle, though i don’t know where they thought i’m meant to get three of those nine letters from.
tose slanesh models are very nice
happy weekend.
Breachstorm sounds to be a great game to get into with friends.
like the bloodborn game interesting how it plays.
and the pre painted terrain is great if your in a hurry and dont have time to paint
Can’t wait to get my hands on the new Slaanesh stuff, looking forward to seeing how they play on the table top
Weekend again? Will listen to it later when I’m in the garage again 😉
The new Slaanesh miniatures look great
OMG, I haven’t had time on here for ages! Popping in to check out the slaanesh stuff 🙂
Annoying technical issue on the website. Clicking to page two of the comments made the video disappear. That should not happen!
Seems ok for me
Sweet price, I like the new Slaneesh models.
Gerry, Gerry, Gerry!
Be careful with that hand action on the heroforge site, dynamite is notoriously unstable and could go off in his hand ???
I hear that it can be used to explosive effect on Biffen’s Bridge!
Ok, I might have to give that hero forge a go later.
Keeper of Secrets soooo pretty! ?
Can anyone explain what’s up with the stockings and garters with hooves?
On Warhammer Community they explained that the demons don’t wear clothes – they manifest the representation of clothes, so in that way clothing can just meld into their physical form.
Okay…sure? But thanks for the reply.
They are disturbing creatures… the one with woman dancing on the guys head is awesome.
I do have a small Slaanesh army that needs adding to. That mini would be very welcome
The Slaaneshi Hedonites were are real surprise for me. I think GW really captured the creepy nature of this faction this time. And they seem to be more fitting as the leaders of leaders of daemonettes and their pets than the older Keepers of Secrets that just seemed off a bit. We shouldn’t forget the harpist either.
I think I might have to take the spring cleaning challenge as a reason to sort out and convert the shed into a man cave
Those Sarissa huts remind me of the Bletchley Park huts…. Hmm.. I wonder if I could Hero Forge an Alan Turing and a Dilly Knox and run a weird world war game where the Nazis find GCHQ and try to destroy the enigma decoding operation…?
SLAAAAANESH
Waiting for the day Gerry passes away, to get your hands on his lead. That is a classic!
I’ll outlive him, he fears vitamins
I’ve never been interested in Slaanesh…until now!!!
Happy Weekend! Very excited that my Mr Potatohead Stompa was name-checked in the first few minutes. If you like it – check it out!
I adore the new Slaanesh miniatures and I can’t wait to get my hands on a new style Keeper of Secrets – Gorgeous!
Nice one Guy’s the Balder’s Gate game sounds good loved playing the originals plus’s Icewind Dale. Breachstorm is looking good an the bug/crab figures are a interesting sounding faction.
Weekender!! Love the show guys!
book
I haven’t quite finished my slayers yet. I feel I let myself down, I feel I let you all down, going this slowly. ?
Great show.
The Grav Stug Kickstarter looks really cool.
Had a great time at a Saga Iron Man event on Saturday. Allow the cult of Saga to warm your heart and bring you peace and oneness with wargaming goodness.
Happy Weekend!
haha the Countdown tune, and now I can’t get Jimmy Carr’s laugh out of my head.
Full Metal Closet, the movie dealing with hobby collector addiction where and man obsessed with historical miniatures is sent to a treatment center to face his addiction. Unfortunately he is faced with hazing by other gamers, and beaten in his sleep by socks stuffed with metal miniatures.
Just started watching the weekender this morning Sunday (working yesterday) I’m looking forward to seeing the content, once done its over to the XLBS to watch that too 😀
Great show guys, I’m looking forward to starting a new army . That keeper of secrets is an amazing model.
Nice show guys. Like the Sarissa range BUT they seriously should consider selling pre painted like 4Ground, as I think they’d sell lots more stuff
Those whips and chains 😉 ^__^
Corvus Belli always does such an amazing job, and Angel’s work is awesome. I like the new Slaneshi models. Great show guys.
That Slaanesh keeper of secrets looks awesome!
I want it^^
What an awesome Slaanesh model!!!i realy would like to build and paint it!!!
The Slaanesh range is looking gorgeous and the riddle is irritating – stupid 9th letter!!!
Breachstorm looks a lot like Infinity, but in resin… which is a massive improvement over the infinity metal.
And it’s a kickstarter which I’m avoiding at present… too much waiting, too many delays and too unreliable.
The Slaanesh stuff I like, but I’ve got enough GW plastic to paint at the moment and barely played what I own, so I’ll hold off on that.
Few things that I actually was surprised weren’t mentioned in the Breachstorm interview –
This is the 2nd kickstarter, and the first one was successful and well run and delivered. I was really surprised more emphasis wasn’t put on that fact, as yes, you do have to be careful with KS but this one seems legit and well managed.
And as for the “vs Infinity”, the real difference I think is the # of figures and table size. You are probably using 6-8 models per side and on a 3×3 with less need complete LOS blocking terrain. The order system is also a bit different than Infinity as the Leaders basically interrupt their own turns to activate their allies, and there is a limit # of orders they can give out, so you don’t get the single figure “rambo” style issue that sometimes pops up in Infinity. Also, different dice mechanic so not as hit, miss, or crit as in Corvus Belli’s game.
Also, Trevor did mention, the rules and cardboard standees are all available for free… so totally worth checking out with no risk other than maybe the risk of papercuts if you aren’t careful! lol
So, I just realized I have to redact some of my points from my post… Breachstorm actually DID NOT fund successfully in 2018 – they pulled it off KS and went with a pre-order system instead (was about 75% funded when they did that)… so that would explain why they didn’t say that in the interview!!!! My bad! Sorry for the misinformation!
That said, I stick by the comments about them having a good manufacturing chain and the differences between Breachstorm and Infinity, plus the free rules and cardboard standees to test out the game (or just proxy other models you have, like Infinity figures!). – Josh
Great show, great prize. The Slaanesh rules and models are looking great.
New Slaanesh looks great
Ahhh, that Keeper of Secrets is INCREDIBLE!
For me the big news was about Clash of Spears (and the rumoured possible release of some plastic Persians), as an aside I also see the Footsore also came out with some new Resins for the Punic era (and my favourite army), Thracians 🙂
https://footsoreminiatures.co.uk/collections/mortal-gods/products/thracian-peltast
They also have some resin Persian Archers, but it would be a bit expensive to buy the amount you’d need for a Persian army. Still good to see some good Thracian minis come out (I wonder if they’ll do some “nutters” armed with the Rhompia?)
the new Slaanesh Minis are so cool, I need to add demons to my Slaanesh CSM army
With all the Spring Cleaning I’ve caught myself with a “large” Warhammer purchase which is miniscule by GW standards. Start getting good on one front of making space and finding shiny to take it. That tome might soon be useful.
Clash of Spears sounds a winner. I’ve just picked up Osprey’s Men of Bronze and like the look of that. More Greek joy can never be a bad thing!
A friend who is also deals with the period on a professional basis says the army lists in Men of Bronze are a bit poo. I’m interested in Clash of Spears as well
I think the attempt to write army lists that reflect the mass-battle forces in a “warband” sized game is flawed (also the Pike and Shotte version of Lion Rampant). Scenario-based small battles are maybe the way to go.
I should have added he thinks the mechanics work well
Here’s his review if your interested
https://irregularwars.blogspot.com/2019/04/review-of-ospreys-men-of-bronze.html?m=1
Really liking that Sarissa terrain. I THINK its based off the Wild Geese prison. Cold War skirmish games, yes please!
Be my gateway to excess… come on… you know you want to
Never looked at AoS but the new Slanesh models look amazing and with the new looney box coming too its very tempting to get back into the GW hobby drug machine!
Great show.
Slaanesh is tempting if only for the fact that it’s been absent from the storyline for so long that it feels fresh.
The new Slaanesh stuff is top notch. I need to get myself a Keeper of Secrets 😀
love the elves…pointy eared fodder
