Happy Sunday GOGs,
warren maybe its the hair dye giving you the shakes?
Is that a thing??!?!?
@warzqn I think thats going to be it for Shogun The next book in the series is called Taipan is set in the 1830’s China and the first opium war
Samurai William by Giles Milton is the true story that the Shogun character Blackthorne is based on…Like all Milton’s book it’s an excellent read
I would really like to see the show creators take the story forward in a second series. I found it riveting and really loved the portrayal of the setting 🙂
That might be difficult as the authors son is heavily involved in the series and from what I heard has said that he wants to protect the integrity his father’s work. I would like to see the second book in the series rather than trying to extend Shogun.
I remember picking up a confrontation game. The one with the werewolf fellas from a local hobby store maybe 15 years ago just before it vanished. I ended up giving the set away. Maybe a similar skirmish set a bit like the 2000ad games from warlord is the way to go although they don’t get supported after the initial run.
As you guys said, Monolith is crowdfunded exclusive in their content so I don’t see them doing wargame types of games. What they might do is going in the direction of Mythic Battles, they are going to launch the Egypt version but I don’t think they have any other era’s after that.
@Warzan I’ll be interested in your review of Fallout after you’ve watched it all. The story comes together in a bit of a rush at the end of the series. I’m a fan of the games so I can’t put myself in the shoes of a non-fan, so whilst I loved it, I am interested if it is actually “good” because that will ultimately be the test of how many series it gets. The best way to think of the setting is that it is set in the future, as imagined in the 1950s in America. The transistor had just… Read more »
Tried to watch Fallout got to episode 2 , kinda got board. My son who has played the games has not got beyond episode 3.
Happy Sunday XLBSers and COGz ?
Dune is way way bigger than Harry Potter @dignity
Great work on the figures @avernos ?So who’s going to be making the Destroyer rammed into the dock doors guy’s?
Yes 3/4 coats of pva/sand over plastic to get the good looking effect on terrain in my experience guy’s
Is it Vegan dust ?
Ooh Ent Elves ?
Cherry pick the best part of the game’s ???
Fab show guy’s ?
Happy Sunday Big thanks for the Golden Button, I wasn’t expecting that. I’ve been working on more models so hopefully there’ll be another post later this week. Conquest Games named those minis as elves which I rather like. Yep cassette players are all rubbish now. I learnt that from Techmoan on the YouTubes. Shogun is on my list to watch (along with Fallout). Dune is fantastic. Read the first three books and watched the two mini series as well. I picked up Hybrid at a wargames show. It my my intro into Rackham). I think we only played it twice.… Read more »
Sunday. *ugh*
Back to bed!
I think Warzan not being thrilled by the Fallout tv-series (and Dune) is kind of proof how tricky it can be to get into fictional settings.
Some things just don’t do it for you … and that’s ok.
I kind of have the same thing with Starwars.
There’s bits I like, but at the same time there’s not much that makes me want to do a cosplay.
Perhaps historical settings are the same?
If the new Rackham stuff is PVC then I’ll have to pass unfortunately.
Monolith have only done games based on IP they don’t own themselves.
Mythic Battles may be their only exception.
Maybe they could use it to add a second ip that they can build upon without having to ask for permission from external sources?
And we may be missing the existing French community for this setting.
Keep in mind that we tend to look at games from an English perspective!
the french community feels the same way I do and I’m not English
Sunday blues have gone away
Another day to go out and play
Play the games we all want to play
Sunday blues has gone away
Great that the Rackham’s IP has been picked up. Monolith though….. More crappy board game plastic is not what confrontation needs. That kinda killed the last iteration.
I’ve never experienced Confrontation beyond hearing it discussed on this site. I’d pick up a little scenario thingy as described, maybe a series of them. I wouldn’t go for a huge crate of minis, like Mythic Battles. I have enough unpainted tat as it is and that quantity in one go would properly give me the willies.
Thank you for the button, very unexpected. Five days from start to finish, felt a lot longer.
@avernos first thing I thought of when you said twins was Schwarzenegger/De Vito.
can I be Danny?
The close up of Gerry during the ‘End-of-the-world’ rant made my day. Thank you Justin and Warren.
I just hope they reprint the Rackham minis in metal (the way they were supposed to be) and update the skirmish game. Was that not what ‘Temple of the West’ were going to do? I would just do that and expand the factions once every six months in the same style of sculpting. Seems like a winner and ‘no brainer’ to me! (By I am just a very biased Rackham gamer – so maybe I’m wrong)
Not much info, but TotW are enthusiastic. Read elsewhere that they’re working together to some extent?
