It's OTT Weekender time! It's time for Warhammer to move over. We dive into Conquest: First Blood from Para Bellum Wargames and discuss why it should be your new Fantasy wargame.
With amazing 35mm miniatures and some absolute epic lore to back it up, Conquest can be played as a Skirmish Wargame OR a Mass Battle Wargame if you prefer. It also features some absolutely fantastic factions that put a twist on traditional Fantasy archetypes.

Oniria minis are bit of a find, love the ‘for a coffin or a star’ sets – very tempted ?
Really like the idea behind snap ships
aren’t they lovely
Nicest I’ve seen for a good while ?

Great to see Gerry back!, and Happy weekend to one and all.
have a nice weekender all!!
uh oh … Warzan is back
Best cover your ears and lower the volume ’cause you know he’s going to be LOUD 😉
Why is Tank Boi John missing from the title, we want Tankboi John or What a Tanker John
Treadheads United will go on strike!….
What is this strange weekend thing of speak of? Working week ends saturday afternoon.
Tried to get into LAoK (as Spire), but gave up (initial sculpts didn’t hit it of me). Really like to Wahdrun models (which do),
Nice to see some friendly and familiar faces talking hobby.
@warzan the Snap Ship KS is so “cheap” because the ships are based on an existing toyline. They already exist. https://www.snapships.com/product-category/products/ Also there is a mobile game app to got with it.
Happy Friday Weekenders.
I’m curious about Conquest. However, outside of MESBG I’ve never been into skirmish level fantasy and I’m perfectly happy with King of War for massed battles.
2 player starter sets are a good way to dip your toe in to a new game.
Yes seconded hell on wheels is fabulous with O’Brien an the vampire guy from Sanctuary that I can’t remember the name of.
I can see John going all Kelly’s Hero’s with the tank an figures.
@warzan I got to play Snap Ship Tactics last year at GenCon. It’s a fun game that has maneuver templates similar to X-Wing and an energy and heat management system that reminds me of BattleTech. The ships already existed as a line of toys. So near as I understand the KS is just for the game side of things. As for building the ships every time, I don’t think you would. You’d build a ship within your allotted points and if you liked your build, you’d just keep reusing that ship in future games. And if you wanted to tweak or experiment, you could, and easily. The only real downside I see of this game is it does require a bigger table than X-Wing, 6 x 4 or larger, and it’s competing in a crowded field. I’d play the game again but I’m unlikely to buy it myself unless a lot of my friends did.
Lovin the show guy’s.
Snap ships is a really good looking game/KS, it is working from a preexisting toy line, so the manufacturing process isn’t really much of an issue. The AI, if you look at several examples in their twitch/youtube streams, shows a system that works VERY well. I think building your own ship to the way you want it will be a big appeal. Taking pieces off of it just for fun during a battle is very thematic.
On another topic, Parabellum is such a great company with a great game in ‘Conquest’ … look forward to doing some skirmishing in their world.
Conquest and Moonstone you’re spoiling us. Happy weekend.
Saturday is always a great day, thanks to the weekender. I got some hobby done, with the assembly of the posable Hecatoncheir from Verge of War. I have been working my way through the Asgar starter set from their kickstarter a few years ago.
I’ve settled to pronouncing it AAAIIEEE!
I have the first 2 player set of conquest, and the models are fantastic. I wish I didn’t have to get the assembly instructions online, hopefully, they changed that. The dual game system is awesome as well. The epic waterloo releases have been great. Thank you for another great show.
A conquest of two books. Bring on the new order.
Happy weekend!
Always nice to see something like campaigns for Infinity and now Moonstone and i agree with Free, great thing it’s not a new character… Hope i don’t kill poor Eric like i did last game with Gotchgut, he got smashed!
See you guys on XLBS!
Excellent show.
Nice to see Warren and Justin back on the show again.
Really liking the direction that the Conquest miniatures are going in. The slightly larger size is great too, what with age making smaller minis harder to paint these days.
Great show everyone! I have been looking at conquest recently. First blood would be great to start. I’m usually a dwarf player so the dwegom would be right up my alley. But the Nords and the Wa’drun look pretty cool too!
Looks like you can buy Snap Ship toys on Amazon.
*tosses in $7 model to reach free shipping on water filters* 😛
what a great game conquest is
Wonder how many minutes before the show Justin was told he was doing the 40K news ?
About 1
There’s an impressive amount of detail on all of the Conquest minis I’ve seen.
I wonder whether the ship snap game could be enhanced to make the ship build even more of the game…
– Tactical phase 1 draft: each player starts with a cockpit, structure/power cube and engine (un-connected). In a 12-21-12… turn mode each player selects a component from a big common pile, the catch being that they have to immediately connect to their developing model (first turn to any of their starters). Do you grab the best weapons early on but end up with a compact ship – or do you go structural and have multiple (but weaker) weapon slots? Power units are important – do you have enough to power your engines and weapons or even fire more than one weapon each turn? Phase 2 – battle it out!
– campaign mode: earn credits to buy and install upgrades. Imagine linking this to Stargrave or Core space?
Conquest looks stunning and I’m *this* close to diving in. Great show as ever, enjoy the rest of your weekend folks!
The conquest models do seem nice. I was avoiding it because of the sheer number of models needed in ah rank & flank game. But ah nice skirmish game might be just what I need.
Oh! The First Blood box looks amazing.
I’d play conquest in a heart beat, the thing is convincing friends to invest and play with me. I also love those Snap Ships, I did do a little google, looks like it’s an existing toyrange I wonder if it’s compatible.
It might almost be the end of the weekend, but that’s no excuse for me to miss the OTT Weekender! I would absolutely LOVE to try Conquest: First Blood, truly. I’ve got a couple of gaming friends that I’m sure I can drag into the maelstrom of it all, if I can teach them with a starter set (hint)… The only conundrum: which mini to paint up as Gerry?
I’m hoping for a Gerry in the Greek faction coming next year
The Oniria Miniatures are stunning but Cross of Iron was Coburn not Marvin. Do like the old dominion faction for conquest, do like my undead/skeleton models
I love the old dominion models. Curious to see how first blood compares to other fantasy skirmish games, especially the new edition of warcry.
Would i play Conquest, sure the minis look nice enough and I really like that they have a skirmish variant, but the people I play with aren’t really interested in Conquest.
