Off on a Tangent, part 1: Sedition Wars.
It is not really all that bad, and far from worst of all time. It had it’s problems with game components that were sub par and warped, a ruleset that was…unfinished… yeah. lets call it that. add KS Delays, bad communication and such.
But what really killed it was the fact that the minis were in restic. Everybody thought they were going to be HIPS as they only had said “plastic” in the KS. We were envisioning better than GW quality here. McVey being a GW celebrity and all.
and then…Restic. With it’s slow reaction to superglue and difficult mould line-removal was more or less an unknown at the time. And people rapidly came to hate the material, and the frustration with it mixed with the general dissappointment with McVey (a wizard should know better!) went nuclear.
and the wave 2 “miniatures in not the quite the same scale” problems only made the frustrations worse.
At least that is my take on it.
