Nice and complete review.
I’ve been looking forward to this set for a while. Brilliant stuff!
I just received my rulebook today so will dive through it. the temptation to start a winter American force to counter my winter germans however is strong. not interested in the fallschrimjager though to be honest
YESSSSSSS! the start of Bolt Action week..bring it on, my set arrived today.
If you don’t have a silver sharpie, you can paint the numbers with some white paint.
you can but I find using markers easier to get the colour on top of the number
This is a good looking starter set.
That does look most spiffy.
My copy of the rulebook has a bit of a delay on it as I’ve paired it with a couple of the Sgt Sawyer minis but this is getting me all psyched for when it does turn up
“Battle Of The Bulge” sounds… naughty.
Sweet. Hopefully these videos make the time go faster for release
All looking very nice. I didn’t play much 2nd edition, but my WWII juices are starting to get flowing again for 3rd. I’m particularly liking what I hear about the new force selection rules, which feel a bit more realistic than previous editions.
it’s still not 100% historical and more a game, but at least the concept feels more like a proper army and less like a loose selection of units.
Overall everything I’ve seen so far feels like a logical evolution of rules that make the game better instead of changes meant to sell the illusion of an update.
I can be 100% historical, all the tools are there to do it
I hope i win
Waiting on my rulebook still, got too many armies on the go to invest in the winter theme for now
It’s really awesome that the models are in Winter Gear. It seems to be kind of a rare depiction in WW2 media and games. You just don’t see it as often, so I think the Battle of the Bulge is a cool theme for the set.
The irony being that most of the Battle of the Bulge was fought NOT in snow. Unless you’re in the awesome movie with the Spanish Army Pattons as Tigers and Panthers! 🤣
Looking forward to seeing what you guys think about the rules changes. The starter box looks good for the price but I’m not ready to buy into another period of the war just yet.
Fantastic coverage! It’s an exciting week for the Bolt Action community! Was there anything you wished was included in the Bulge Starter?
does anybody know what the SMG is that one of the fallschrimjager is (top left)? it looks a lot like a looted Sten gun?
there’s a sten, ppsh, mp38 and mp40 as SMG options on the sprue so probably yes
covers all theatres then which is good… although the stitch counter in me will have an aneurysm if someone puts a Sten and ppsh in the same squad… I won’t do anything about it as I have better things to do in life but internally I will know they can be sacrificed when the time comes
Nice one 🙂
Comment! My group and I would love a box 😀
Looking forward to playing this
I’ve been looking forward to having a game of 10 of the new edition. Great review, thanks.
Exciting times ahead!
Looks good, maybe it’s time to finally start that Winter army
Looks ace. Looking forward to getting started.
Good start to the week, you have piqued my interest.
My favourite starter box so far for BA
Looks like I’m going to have to snap to action, there are cabbage crates coming over the briny.
Looking forward to getting my Armies of books any year now (French, Chinese and partisans, so 2026?).
there is an interview coming with Alessio, the smaller armies are getting PDF updates in the next month or so I think. So it will hopefully tide you over until then
Those minis look great!
Excellent starter kit for V3. Can’t wait for Q2 2025 for US Army box set.
This game rocks!
Pretty excited about the set, may have to get some winter Americans now that they are plastic. The small box of metals was pretty limiting. This is going to drive me to build some new terrain….
Looks like there is a lot of attention to detail.
Great unboxing. I guess I didn’t pay attention to the contents. It’s great that it includes the ruins.
Great video guys. Really helping to build up the hype for the new edition.
i like the winter themed uniforms
I would be interesting in adding to my Americans in the winter uniforms for the game
Nice review, really looking foward to the winter Fallschirmjäger
So keen to see how the game has changed. One of my fav game systems and I like the look of what I have seen thus far
And the war rages on
Never played Bolt Action but I’ve been keeping my eye on the 3rd edition to see whether this could be the jumping in point for me. Looks a great value starter set and will follow this week with interest.
Any fuckin pumas in that pack
Looking forward to this one . Looks great!
Great review for this new shinny set. I am really considering delving into this set as an opportunity to finally play Bolt Action but also as palliative measure toward the Florida heat, which will be well countered by the cold emanating from the Black Forest…
Been itching to get into this game. Might have to finally take the plunge.
looking forward to this, great review, thanks
The plastics are really nice. Hopefully they redo the Japanese and Soviets.
Perfect for a Bastogne diorama!
Received the rulebook today, now need some models
Looks like a great set. Would the greatcoats require snow basing? Would the look out of place in, say fall weather?
I find the vibrancy of the studio paints peculiar. Gives real red vs blue vibes. That being said the models look great the the rules refresh looks even better
no reason to snow base they wore them in the autumn and winter so muddy fields or even grass is fine
Really excited about Bolt Action V3. May be the perfect excuse to finish the Australian Army.
A good comprehensive look at the starter set. BA has interested me for a while now and maybe I’ll finally get into it with the release of 3rd edition.
Ready to look into this.
great review and nice looking set. I mostly look for metal minis when expanding my infantry for Bolt Action (just personal preference) but damn those Winter Americans look nice
Good stuff as always
dog tags are a nice touch
Thank you for the chance to see how it works for V.3 .
Keeping my fingers crossed for a chance to win Battle of Bulge starter set.
It would very much turn my year around in so many ways.
So this is it! No German splinter pattern to paint but I am told that white is the most difficult colour to paint especially sjade. Looking forward to these. John I will need some help.
Historicals don’t often grab me but I’ve always been curious to give Bolt Action a fair go. A friend talked me in to buying their Tank War set a few years back. It was enjoyable, but didn’t give the true feeling. Not enough models for a satisfying game, and no infantry.
At the risk of being reductive for a joke: “A battle of the bulge set? I thought they already had A Band of Brothers themed box.”
yeah they do… like most drinks though, this one is improved as its been served ice cold
Very good box to get into bolt action.
Been a fan of FOW when it comes to WW2 but this starter set could get me interested in Bolt Action.
That building kit really gets around haha
You can’t go wrong with Bolt Action starter sets they provide a good starting block to build your forces
A good solid starter set, tempting very tempting.
Thank you for the great demo guys!
Would love a chance at getting ma bundle
Pretty please!
I like both the new plastic ranges, but I think the Germans will be harder to paint (I find painting white very difficult)
Great starter set.
I’ve run out of clever things to say.
Looks great, nice review.
Commenting, for a chance to win 😊
Looks like a good starter set
Greatt starter set
Silver sharpie on the pin markers is a great tip!
Looking a nice set!
Get set, so gonna get this to boost my winter forces. Great unboxing, thanks Gerry
To back up Young Gerry’s review, Falscrimjager are a nice easy build, did 1st 6 in an hour, very little flash to clean off, and everything went together well.
Fallschirmjäger. SCNR 😉
