Don’t Look Back Heads To 1698 With New Horror Expansion
September 16, 2024 by brennon
Black Site Studios has released a new Cursed Crate which this time takes the form of the 1698 Expansion for Don't Look Back. Head back to the formation of Northwood and see what terrors stalked the land. Hint. It's terrible, terrible murders.
1698 Expansion // Don't Look Back
This new expansion will make use of the core rules from Don't Look Back so you'll need those to take part in this adventure but it will take you down a different path from the normal survival horror experience.
You will find out about John Loughton, who gave his name to the modern private school and also plenty of lore about the history of Northwood, its first Killers and the depths of the forest itself. Optional rules are included for using horses as well as Minor Characters which can replace a single main character. In this case, they take the form of Loughton's Scouts who have headed out into the woods.
Characters & Killer // Don't Look Back
Additional rules include the use of Faith, Superstition, and Paranoia which allow characters ways to hinder The Killer using their belief. It does mean that if things go south, they are also more likely to end up getting butchered by The Killer who preys on their belief! You can also use these rules in your modern games of Don't Look Back as well if you prefer.

The full contents break down as such...
- 1698 Expansion book. (Softback style book)
- PDF of the rulebook
- The Founding VHS
- British Scouts. Minor Character Blister
- Black Dog of Bowfield Miniature
- Plus some fun extras (We've got some cool stickers planned!)
I am intrigued to see how the Black Dog Of Bowfield adds to your adventures and what role it takes. Maybe he's a good boy? Maybe? Make sure to check out the added Northwood Logging Camp that Black Site also has up to pre-order which might be good for setting the scene.

If you've not played Don't Look Back before, it's a fun, quick horror-based miniatures game where your survivors seek to outwit and outlive The Killer across a variety of different scenarios. It takes place in a small play space (so you're not going to take over your entire table) and stands out as quite a fun alternative to your classic wargames.
What do you make of the 1698 expansion?

Kill the black dog!
Love DLB, the guys at Black Site Studios are great as well- super helpful – but the shipping man, the shipping. Costs you nearly the same as the products themselves.
Just cannot afford it.
I was still getting bills from UPS after the last stuff I bought for about 3 months!
Don’t look back in horror …
Even being in Canada the shipping from the U.S. is too much.
So pass…
Would get it if it was available in the UK. Too expensive to get from America.
