Games Workshop are going to be taking pre-orders for their new Slaves To Darkness Darkoath Army Set this weekend. You'll be able to scoop up the new take on Warhammer Age Of Sigmar's Marauders as this edition comes to a close.

This Army Set comes with a whole host of new miniatures that are revamping the Slaves To Darkness range as we move into the new edition of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar later this year. To this end, this set comes with a set of Warscroll Cards and tokens plus a Battletome Supplement for the Darkoath included. These will also be available online at a later date so you'll be able to use the new miniatures in your games without having a buy a big new book.

Battletome Supplement: Darkoath // Warhammer Age Of Sigmar

I think this is a great set for those wanting to make a more Darkoath-themed army. Maybe your warriors haven't slid quite so deep into the worship of Chaos and are simply looking to defend their lands against the crusading forces of Order. You can combine this set with some of the other Darkoath characters already available to make a proper themed army consisting of nothing but musclebound barbarian warriors.

The set comes with twenty Darkoath Marauders which are split into two units of ten. They come armed with a myriad of different weapons and in some dynamic poses. You've also got a good mix of male and female sculpts in the set to match the diversity of the tribes battling across The Mortal Realms.

The set also features five Darkoath Fellriders who are going to be smashing into the flanks of the enemy and driving them from the field of battle. This is quite an upgrade from the old plastic Marauders that we've been used to for a decade or more!

I do like the scheme that these Darkoath have been painted in here but it would be neat to see some schemes that match the various Chaos gods. I don't think they'd directly worship the likes of Khorne or Nurgle but might instead worship an aspect of those gods. With that in mind, you could do some cool stuff with purples, reds, blues and greens and some interesting iconography which hints to their patron.

Leading the way, there is also a Chieftain On Warsteed who comes with a variety of different weapon options for you to choose from and alternative heads.

This fellow has clearly collected a lot of heads, perhaps from those who dared to defy him. He also has weapons for every occasion so he can hack his way through rank upon rank of the enemy. A great miniature which looks like it will be awesome to paint.

Last but not least, there is the Wilderfiend. This beast would have once been a member of the tribe who became corrupted and twisted by the powers of Chaos. Despite their hideous mutations, they still fight for the tribe and defend them from all foes. Think of them as something of a guardian spirit, albeit a wretched one.

This fellow also comes with two different head options and I do think the closed mouth is the best option. It looks less derpy and more ferocious. This does mean if you wanted to include more of them in your army, you could at least have two different-looking options.

Pre-orders will be available for the Darkoath Army Set this weekend and whilst this is your first chance to get them, they will be available on general release in the future. If you miss out, I wouldn't worry as they'll most likely be back in full force when the new edition of Warhammer Age Of Sigmar lands.

Will you be picking up the set?
