Flames Of War Boot Camp Details & Webstore Open
In addition to all of that goodness, we're launching the ticket sales for the Flames Of War 4th Edition Boot Camp on Sunday 15th January at 6am for Backstagers. So, if you want to get to this epic event running from the 3rd - 5th March 2017 get your fingers poised.
You'll be able to pick from both a British and a German force and everything will be desert themed! Watch the show to find out more.

It’s the Weekend!! With a Weekender!! Makes it a ‘proper’ weekend…
X-Wing in atmosphere makes sense, especially with the smaller craft. Until we have a way of moving in true 3D then – a bit like DFC – it justifiess the 2D context for my brain which otherwise is always slightly jiggled!

@warzan great to have a boot camp confirmed but I was also wondering if you guys had any more thoughts on the model painting front. Where a model would be picked and we as a community would then get together and go to work in the same vein as the slaughterpriest last year?

@noyjatat not as far as i know, would imagine BoW painting club will happen in some form soon after 2.0 launches… But a LOT more discussion is needed before we have anything concrete to report, that said wouldn’t be a bad idea to start a discussion on the forums to thrash out peoples ideas…

Tip with the greenstuff roller…
If you use both guides – one on each side. Then use then same width texture roller on the bottom and on top – then you get a consistent thickness of tube.
the new music for the hubs is well its not busting my ear drums good but its a little too soft i think i need some time to get use to it

John’s Tool was great, neat little toy for green stuff: in plastic it hopefully shouldn’t be too pricey.
I’ve looked at Relic Knight in the past; even my daughter was interested in the Cerci Speed Circuit.

Nice to see the GSW tentacle maker, I’m a big fan of it it’s a simple but really nice tool. They also do lovely rollers for making detailing for bases and terrain.
I would say for the mountain king that milliputt is better for gap filling than green stuff, simply because it is water soluble.
Poor Ben, having to deal with those tools….
@avernos Plastic putty is a revelation compared to milliputt, the deluxe and vallejo products are a delight for gap filling. Water based and ready mixed easy to work with too, all you need is a wet finger for tidy up
For smaller gaps on plastic I now use a home brew solution…
1 x Bottle Tamiya extra thin poly cement (green top)
1 x Sheet of styrene/plasticard (don’t use sprue)
Cut sheet into little bits or take a hole punch to it, add styrene to glue and let it dissolve, keep adding styrene until its the consistency of emulsion paint, then paint it on to the gap and leave for 24 hours then sand the plastic flat, perfect gap fix.
If you cant wait medium/thick super glue and talc works really well, but can be a bastard to sand flat
I may give the putty a go at some point, I always have milliputt on hand though which makes it my go to filler.
The plastic filler sounds interesting, I would suggest you check out EMA’s plastic weld for that you can pick up more for cheaper than the tamiya alternative, it’s a superb glue for styrene.
@avernos the built in brush on the Tamiya is a godsend plus the ultra thin is my goto glue now, its displaced contacta after 20 odd years! And more importantly for me my closest stockist is a mile away next to an ace bakery so it works out cheaper than ordering and paying postage…
But each to own, as long as its a modern ultra thin (I.e. You apply by capillary action, and it’s grabbed after a second or two) any liquid poly cement should work.
Use cigarette ask instead of talc.

I love the helper handles for getting the foam out of the game boxes, that seems like a really cool thing you could make your own fairly easily for games that don’t have them (card stock or poster board). The tool for the green stuff seems really cool.
I love the Desert Hydra. I would almost buy that for D&D, paint it like Tiamat and scare the crap out of my players as I set that down on the board.

Johns new feature is a great addition with the best intro on BOW. Bens thought bubbles were awesome.
you can tell those battlefoam bags spring from a military back ground, they look pretty much indestructible. as for the BOW bags, I like the lime green best.

I think my issue with the warmachine horse is that it looks like one of those knights you can get from the early learning centre. Damn they are cool but …. they are just chunky silly knights on horses fighting silly dragons….

Rogue One, seen it, when it started was a little down, then after 10 minutes, became well into it. So went back with my Grandkids and they loved it too.
With the 7-year-old saying afterwards “i though she died” so had to explain how films are made weeks ahead before we see them. Yes she’s a Star Wars fan, even at seven.

Good seeing a new episode. I was amazed how good the Vanguard of War minis are. They are truly amazing. I think it would also be an amazing game to play.
At last my weekly dose of insanity and chuckles has returned, poor old Ben trying to keep it together had me in stitches, the four of you are like wargamings answer to a “Carry on” movie
Back in the saddle – I like the ‘Hoth’ mat. It was funny watching Justin and John discover patterning in green stuff – nursery children have been playing with stuff like this for at least 30 years – patterns and shapes.

@warzan Archon is an offshoot of Prodos so they could go to Kickstarter and distance themselves from their shameful treatment of AVsP backers. During that KS they tried to hide that fact till some crafty backers exposed them and they had to admit it. I still see backers who have not received a single item from their pledge. Then there is the rest of us still waiting on various items from our pledges. I think you should stand with the backers and not support this company and anyone who has been ripped off should be able to understand why backers are upset with Prodos and Archon.

Where did the AT-ATs and AT-STs on the X-Wing table come from?
I love the Noh empire (Oni/Yaogui critters) bruisers. Not sure what to with them. But they are lotsof fun to paint. The shattered Sword knights look cool in a nice corny way too. The Black Diamond mini-tanks are neat as is the diamondback chop-robot. Space pirates are always welcome. The racers have a neat pace-robot thing and the big punch-robot Lug.
That ‘Unicast’ looks fantastic, and I’m holding out a lot of hope for the next generation of Mutant Chronicles/Warzone models due to it (as they are all slated to be unicast). Also wondering if the models from the games will be released separately, not sure I want the games – to be fair I think I KS’d myself out last year with games (I like the current crop, especially Other Side – I’m with Warren on the Gibbering Hordes – but don’t think the current funds will stretch to a $250 odd pledge, I worked it out for all the GH stuff, it’s just over $450 for the one faction).
Never really looked at Relic Knights, and no interest in Freebooter’s Fate, though it did used to get played at the local games group when they were going through their fantasy Gang Skirmish phase. Lovely models though.
I am looking forward to FOW version 4, I am a big fan of the Desert war, but I will tune in to Relic week

This was a weird one. New theme tunes and jingles, John gets out his tool, and it finishes with Warren’s Load all over the table.
I agree that with minis I like “everything louder than everything else” but the Feora figure is just taking the idea past usefulness. The ideas of dirty big warhorse, massive thick intimidating armored plates, giant flames exaggerated in proportion to the giant horse all sounds good separately. But when all of these things are plonked together in the way that they are on Feora, they just seem more clunky than cool.
Ow yes! Relic Knights! This is the one I have been waiting for, guys. If you ever do a bootcamp for this one, I am SO there!
Hasbro are asking Feora to give their pony back. That would be one hell of a C&D letter to get 😀 .
That was good thinking, @dignity, when you are vigorously working with tentacles it is important to put an equal amount of attention into the balls.
At last, Relic knights, I was running out of excuses to buy more of their stuff 😀

If anyone can be bothered : What is your favourite music to game to.
Mine is Dragon Force for 40k as a lot of their songs reference 40k concepts anyway .
And of course Maiden as Maiden goes with everything. The Trooper works well for 40k assaults and Run To The Hills is great when you fight against Tyranids or any horde / swarming force for that matter
Totally would love to win one of these sets or even just a starter pack. I’ve been watching this game and would really love to give it a go. Alas new baby is about to be here so gaming budget is gone till further notice! But I can dream!!! 🙂

A friend of mine is Star Wars crazy and you have given me one of my first gaming resolutions – I will source, paint and assemble, and present him with a couple of AT-AT’s for his X-wing collection. Time and money depenedent, I will see if I can get him some snow speeders and AT-ST’s too, but I better not get too far ahead of myself!
Looking forward to the Relic Knights week. It was one kickstarter I had to unfortunately withdraw my pledge due to other financial commitments, but I have always been interested in the game mechanics so this will give me a great chance to watch them in action. Flames of War week is going to be epic too. 🙂
Love the Beasts of War merchandise, I think I am going to have to consider putting some pennies aside to get something from the range, be crazy not too! 😉

Once upon a time I wanted to write a manga-inspired comic in the genre Relic Knights inhabits. I wonder if my characters from that might be attractive enough for the game.
Wow, I am very much a creature of habit it finally feels like a weekend again. I tend to add lots of bits and bobs from every range to my pile of shame so I’m looking forward to seeing the relic knights play through, it may tempt me back into some of those models. Also I dunno if my furnace was busted or what but I felt a little flushed looking at that ice mat (and yes, I’m starting to really want some of my own).
warren, your mat intro made me first snort my ginger ale, then feel nasueous. but that is an awesome mat. i really want that x-pack. me and my group of gamers play a lot of munchkin and that would carry two of the monster boxes. so about half of our card collection. maybe then we would go to our FLGS more

That Battlefoam bag looks really handy. I would give it to my brother. He is always going around my house to play Super Dungeon Explorer with my kids or to my sister house to play Zombiside with her friends. Now he uses two big shopping bags. The Battlefoam bag would be great for him.

Great show! You guys inspired to open an old Warmachine two player starter set I have on a shelf and get to painting it.
I can not recommend a tentacle or tube maker enough, great to convert models and add interest to terrain. I use Vaseline with Green Stuff instead of Water.
Battle foam is awesome! So far I have a bg for two Dust armies, Malifaux, a big Infinity bag and a bag dedicated to carry Vallejo style paint bottles and dozens of brushes. The new bag will be great to hall around my Zombicide Black Plague and Walking Dead Kickstarter sets.

I think PP should either get a sculptor that knows horses anatomy, or buy some licence sculpts in scale about horses, or stop making people on horses and horses in general because barring one, every other horse they ever made is a tragedy of anatomy and motion.
I think Prodos/ Archon, must get their stuff together, they have an interesting casting method, but they do not seem to be able to keep up with contract work and doing their own stuff, I read from many in the industry that they get their contracted schedule delayed so much they had to cancel and look for alternative ways, this is disheartening and not a good way to get this revolutionary casting, especially for small wargame/ boardgame companies out on the spotlight.

I like how you are making feature segments with the new jingle vids and playing with the format. It is nice to see more focused slices of content in there.
Not so sure about the remixed hub videos though, not keen on the music to be honest. I liked them as they were, I just wanted there to be more of them so that they are less repetitive.
I love the look of Relic Knights, but that bag…. I think I found my next “need to have”

Love the new Star Wars as well not sure it is better than Empire but it is close. It definitely calls for some atmospheric X wing, you need the new Tie Strikers! X wings led by Wedge.

Lovely to see the Weekender back from its Christmas and New Year break. Happy new year to everyone as well. Have been following The Other Side closer since it looks like a brilliant kickstarter, definitely the Abyssinia force for me, that Lord of Steel is so cool. Those LOAD miniatures look absolutely stunning for single build sculpts.
Clearly you should use the two wet hand technique when working your flaccid tentacle into proper form.
I like the cosy bag in black, the others are a bit shinny for me 😛

When I saw John whip out his tool and say “green stuff world” my heart skipped a beat because I mentioned them in the comments during the last weekender and I was hoping for a review of their “Blue Stuff” thermo plastic molding material. Maybe next time? It was good to see one of their products in action though. Very neat! Has Warren seen their textured rollers for making cobblestones and the like?
I love Soda Pop / Ninja Division! I currently collect Super Dungeon Explore and I’m eagerly awaiting the fulfillment of the SDE Legends Kickstarter! I haven’t taken the plunge into Relic Knights yet, but I’ve been drooling over those models for a while now. I really want me some space pirates! The only thing that’s stopped me thus far is no one to play it with… although having two starters means I can get some of my gaming group to at least try a game or several. Lol. Fingers crossed!

Every time I see relic knights, I always think how to paint them to leave the purple bases. I think that is one of the neatest things about the entire range.
Thought you might comment on the epicness that was the end of KD:M, but show was great as ever. Really enjoying all of the cut scenes and after show editing that you are doing at the moment.
