A bit late although still early. It’s the Weekend!!
Teased a mention of new Flames of War offerings, but just a shout-out for the store… hmmmm!?!
Videos for late war British coming including look at the book and minis along with the mid war para book.
Some team Yankee stuff coming soon as well if you like your fiction
Would like to try out Reichbusters. 🙂 Seems like a blast.
I work on Saturday. Weekend starts around 2pm.
Test post because people on the disco are having trouble comment.
I fixed the “thing” 🙂
Ah, now it works…
Speaking of working… doing a late shift tonight so I can watch the weekender early XD
Is Richebusters as goood as Justin says it is. Models look amazing!
It’s a game that makes you and your friends chat about the best tactical options, or the most epic use of a grenade… XD
The seige of Jerusalem. Is that the mice thing?
i couldn’t afford Reich busters when it went to kick starter looks really nice.
Weekender seems to get earlier every week
It would be cool to have a copy of Reichsbusters to share, because I’m waiting on my kickstarter package.
I think renting that extra storage space is proving to be a good idea 😀
Creature caster have some incredible miniatures, I wish I could include them in my games but they didn’t really fit into skirmish stuff.
Best play along you guys did by far
don’t like the new slot, the temptation to watch this on a Friday night is too strong but then what to watch on my Saturday mornings! nope, don’t like the change put it back 😀
Watch it again maybe?
?
Or go to bed you silly goose 🙂
I’m in the Friday Night club, exciting
Reichbusters looks very nice, to bad I missed the kickstarter.
i usually don’t kill people but when i kill nazis i do it 1000%
Of course I have room for more games!!!! Just don’t tell the missus.
Great show again guys. Keep up the good work.
Looking forward to Reichbusters. I wonder if any more expansions will be made in the future?
Nice one guy’s the new figures coming out nowadays are fabulous looking.
Those Reichbuster minis look sweet as hell. Since the Wuhan Flu, also known as Xinnie the Poo’s Curse or Corona not the beer has come to my city today, I can only hope to survive to the day I might win this box of sweets 😉
Any chance of doing a series of Reich Busters like the Kingdom Death, like to see you do the campaign be an interesting watch.Seen this company do 15mm bible wars minis may give you some ideas Warzan https://www.magistermilitum.com/manufacturer/chariot-miniatures-15mm.html. not bought any from them but a reference for you.
@doomdark, I’d love to have us do some videos on Reich busters… it’s just a matter of getting the guys hooked in… (I.E. I need hand cuffs XD)
Happy Weekend and Reichbusters for the win! 🙂
Happy Weekender everyone
Awesome! Would love a copy ?
If you’re doing Bible Wars @warzan you could also branch out into sci-fi with it with things like Stargate and all those ancient alien conspiracy theories. ?
Is Reichbusters going Retail?
Great show! Looking forward to seeing more Reichbusters updates and playthroughs.
Happy weekend. I think kings of war would be a good starting point for “biblical wars” or maybe even Hail Caesar considering they have historical lists of that era. Just need to add some miracles, plagues, and mice.
@warzan I shall not cancel my subscription after your unwarranted attack on 2mm figures and will at the moment give you the benefit of the doubt and that you will eventually come to love them
If you like 6mm for mass effect and you like 15mm for diorama basing then you really need 10mm!
Magister Militum do some lovely 10mm biblical ranges
https://www.magistermilitum.com/scale/10mm.html?cat%5B0%5D=59628
lol Thanks for that.
Yeah I may one day fall for 2mm, but at this stage I really am puzzled by it.
Now tbf I have only seen the single strip that Gerry brought in, but I could barely see anything but a tiny blob.
At that scale would you not be as well to use nice printed tokens?
Really though what is the purpose of the 2mm scale am I missing somthing? 🙂
To be honest there a way to play the really big games that are usually hex and counter. It gives players a way to have 3D counters and terrain in what are usually 2D games
A lot of 6mm players will use 2mm terrain to show built up areas as they think it looks better especially for large city areas
for WW2 and modern you can play platoon and company sized games where you can play it in 1 to 1 scale or for instance if in 6mm 1 model equals 5 tanks then in 2mm you can put 5 tanks on that same base
Like every scale it has its uses
good show
Reichbusters looks like a great game.
Looks like plenty of bang for your buck with the Reich Busters core.
Reichbusters… The miniatures look amazing. I want this game.
Weekender – check
Coffee – check
Reich Busters – we’ll see?
Those Cyberpunk minis look great.
Now that blackstone fortress is bought and I’m painting the minis – I can’t help my mind wandering to the next solo dungeon explorer. Reich Busters maybe?
My brother would be so happy to get a copy of this if I won the Reich Buster box……….
Another great prize giveaway guys .
I can’t speak for Justin, but my mind is a little but melted… But how different would the factions of Biblewars actually look from one another, at the scale you’d need to use to get a historically accurate number of them onto the battlefield?
Thanks @warzan & @dignity for the quick unboxing for a peak, as awaiting my Kickstarter, thanks to @dignity fot plastic zip bag tip, now will be able to use some of the mountain of bags I have gained from Star Wars Legion.
Great weekender as always, cant wait to get my mitts on my reichbusters kickstarter pledge the minis alone look awesome. winning another id gift it to my mate so he has it, he missed the kickstarter and needs snagging.
Talking Bible wars with the brief Coronavirus mention i had my own Moses moment where i caused panic at my local casualty which might give you a chuckle,i caught a virus which triggered my allergies, throat constricting the constant coughing had me bringing up blood. Given the current climate walking into a casualty unit wearing a mask coughing up blood had people running to get away from me and people parting like the sea to let me through. the two and a half hour wait to be seen reduced to a turnaround of ten minutes, ushered into a small room i was quizzed regards Wuhan and my travel history before the doc would listen to me, check my notes, issue the usual horse sized antibiotics and send me on my way.
simply leaving A&E was a comedy in itself as i wandered out everyone moved in the opposite direction and i felt what it must be like to be a leper. News had spread like wildfire and everyone seemed really scared keeping a bubble of about 20 feet clear around me.
As for a bible wars army i am surprised you didn’t mention Sodom (as in Sodom and Gomorah), as I’m sure that Justin’s todger cavalry would make a great city guard in a comedy themed force @warzan could have had a field day putting together.
Steamwatchers looks like a cool game and it would be good in my gaming group.
Happy Weekend one and all.
Utterly jealous you guys have a studio copy of Reichbusters and that @dignity has been playing through it at your club nights.
Reichbusters (RB) has made me think recently about the whole Kickstarter (KS) thing and I thought I’d float my thoughts here and see if it starts a conversation, or if I get shut down right away. Before I state my thoughts let me clarify a few points.
I am keen for RB to arrive, keen to paint it and keen to play it. At this point in time I am happy with RB and Mythic. I will use them as an example going forward, not because I have any kind of issue with them, just because they are the ones at the forefront of my KS queue and my mind.
I am an adult. I make my own choices and I am responsible for them. No one else is. This applies to all of us.
I am not putting blame for anything on anyone. Just floting a thought out there as OTT seem to like such thoughts for Pointless Views and XLBS sometimes. I am not unhappy with anyone.
Here’s the set up for the thought.
We see a KS on out favourite site, twitch streams and youtube channels. They are not being payed by the manufacturers so we trust to an extent that their hype is genuine. Week after week they post more content and playthroughs of them singing it praises etc. This will tip people over the edge to back a KS they might not have otherwise. This is the point of this content for the manufacturers, after all. This happend to me for Reichbusters from the OTT content, and for Aeon Tresspass: Oddessy with the Monkeys With Fire content. I wasn’t interested in either but playthroughs and hype from the streamers convinved me otherwise. Once again, I am an adult and I am responsible for my choices.
It has been 16 months (Nov 2018) since RB KS ended and the boxes are on the shops and due to land. There hasn’t been any content in a looong while (I know some unboxings are due) and nothing generating any hype. Some people are regretting their purchases. I see Laughingboy is already selling his copy on the OTT forum and it’s still on the ships. He is not alone. We regularly see people selling unopened KS pledges having lost the hype and deciding they are no longer interested. As stated before, this is not specific to RB or Mythic. It’s a general KS thing.
And now finally on to the thought:
Do content creators who have spent the time building up the hype for a KS beyond just “This is a thing and looks ok. go check it out” have a responsibility to those people they tipped over the edge? I’m not saying they owe us money back. I’m asking if perhaps they have a responsibilty to generate some of that hype back up around the time the KS lands in our hands? To re-generate enthusiasm so people don’t regret their purchases before they even receive them?
I do think that companies running a KS should do something like this, but I think we can all agree we go in to a KS knowing they are there to make money so we can view their efforts more open eyed or cynically. They are advertising, not giving personal opinions or fair reviews.
I have gotten lucky with RB. I’ve been playing Space Hulk with a friend once a week and we have 4 bonus missions left to go to complete it, and I know I will play RB with him once we have that done. I have had plety of other KS’s just sit there untouched otherwise.
Once again, I’m not pointing fingers at anyone. I’m not laying down any demands or grievances. Just floating a thought to see if it starts a discussion and maybe leads to more people being happy with their purchases further down the road. We are all respsonsible for our own choices, good and bad.
I agree 100% with this and it’s something we have been trying to help ‘KS Companies’ with the last 3 years or so. (KDM etc)
But I think they dont get the importance of it and are too focused on shifting all their attention onto the next thing. This is a mistake in my opinion. And we try to get that across when we can.
We are right behind your sentiment we just need the related KS’s to weigh in with us to ensure it happens. 🙂
I think for any KS product where they want ongoing sales this hype regeneration should be seen as essential. I think for anything else it is at a minimum good manners and sensible. I get they have their Next Big Thing (NBT) to focus on, but after I’ve put their last three NBTs on my shelf to gather dust or straight on to Ebay, why would I back the next NBT? It’s very short sighted.
I’m really glad to hear you agree with me. I’ve been thinking this for a long while but been afraid to say anything for fear I was actually just avoiding personal responsibility, or I accidentally insulted OTT or another content creator (or I’d end up in a typical internet argument. You might have noticed I chose my words as carefully as I can!). I really hope you make Justin record some play throughs with his copy of RB. I’ve love to see the studio sit down to play, ideally the whole campaign. I’d be curious to see if you can find a realistic way for Ben to join in remotely too. I know my friends have spread out over the world over the years and it’s hard to get a group together. Finding ways for us to play tabletop while at different tables and without spending a fortune on complicated A/V setups would be interesting (although a separate issue to what I came here to discuss). Even if the OTT crew can’t sit down for a play through perhaps he can get his group to agree to record some footage?
I’d love to see you do a deal with companies like Mythic who use you for advertising. If they come over and you generate a bucket load of content for them, then they agree to send you an advance copy and perhaps loan you a Leo (or equivalent) before their product leaves the factories so you can produce fresh, up to date content ready to go out when shipping happens. Otherwise they’re putting you in a position to repeat this cycle for your fans. We want the news. We want to see the latest shiney, but we also want to enjoy it when we get it a year+ later. I understand that without their support you cannot do on-release content.
I really think KS companies are doing themselves and their fans a disservice by not regenerating hype, and there’s questionable ethics behind content creators continually selling us on KSs and not trying to suppport our interest down the road. I’m really happy to hear this is something you are working on. I’m looking forward to you RB unboxings. Hopefully you can comment on the production sculpt qualities and see if they live up to the previous versions. I’ve seen an unboxing elsewhere and I fear soapiness in some cases.
Reichbusters looks cool, but I don’t have time.. I had similar experience with Dungeon Saga. By the time I got the product in my hands, I had largely lost interest. I have rifled through the bod on occasion, but have not played a single game.
I think I agree with your position on this, the appearance of a disservice is exacerbated by Mythic having delivered this particular box whilst over to film their latest game and not build the expectation for RB. I’m not picking on them either but they are the publishers du jour and have been quite prolific on KS in recent weeks….Joan 1.5 etc
Does this version have the movement system you want for St Nazaire? @warzan
Yup sure does 🙂
Oh that Flames of War discount may be the thing I need to finally get the Fury boxed set!
I loved the Let’s Play video for Reichbusters, it’s a game that would be perfect for our gaming group but missed it the first time round??
Thanks for the show, well done. See you all tomorrow.
@avernos are you thinking of Aguirre, the Wrath of God? It’s vs the Incas – so a few years after conquering the Aztecs but it’s still EPIC! Amazing soundtrack from Popol Vuh too!
yesssss that’s it exactly
[looks at cupboard full of SOTR, Dust and Konflikt minis] I do not need any more weird war 2 stuff.
[looks at Reichbusters] I definitely need more weird war 2 stuff.
Fallen out of love with gaming over the last year so missed this Kickstarter, which is a shame because Reichbusters looks great
Wargames Atlantic are going from strength to strength. I own the Halflings and Skeletons, and I must say they are both really good kits in terms of quality and value for money. Can’t wait to get my hands on those Irish and the wonderful dogs that are included.
They have just announced a set suitable for the Boxer Rebellion, and I am reliably informed this is nothing to do with the Marquis of Queensbury or slobbery doggos. https://wargamesatlantic.com/blogs/news/new-set-announcement-boxer-rebellion
Reichbusters looks good
New line design also do a great range of 10mm ancient figures.
The sheer amount of stuff in that box is crazy.
It should obviously be Ben in command of the mice army. Add few badgers for flavour.
Been too long! Missed you guys!
Life has been busy
Welcome back, how is the hunt for a napoleonic ruleset going?
Looking at Field of Glory, but it might also be a bit more complicated than we want.
Great show this week. Really like the blend of features at the moment. Reichbusters looks like lots of fun. The Let’s Plays are well worth a look if anyone is new here. Great prize.
it’s in the rotation to watch. tried but a headache I’m fighting right now is just awful.
Will post once watched and give my come ts. already packed researchers and watched the videos. it looks like an interesting game. I would paint the miniatures and put them on bases where the sides are color coded. with Gerry’s how to make snow bases…this could be really awesome.
I suspect that app driven games are becoming more common because the kids of today can’t function without a phone.
I have a few myself… Imperial Assault, Descent, Mansions of Madness and Journeys in Middle Earth, the latter too being app only games (although I do have Mansions 1e).
The problem is… when we have the apocalypse… the EM pulse that destroys communication systems and shuts down the internet… we will all have a lot of time on our hands and app based games will be useless…
Luckily.. pen and paper RPG’s, plus ‘archaic pre-app boardgames’ will still work.
And we can laugh at the ‘youngsters’ while they try to google how to make fire while we keep ourselves warm with fires started using old dungeon modules… holding them at bay with catapult fired d20’s and the ‘d4 caltrops’…
Happy Weekend folks!
Would love to win reichbusters!! How to know if i did?
Don’t worry i never win anything 😀
I will try !!
ooh man i wish i could have a set like that. not only for the game itself but also for my DnD and other tabletop and rollplay games.
Great show guys, personally I’m not a fan of games with apps, but the Kickstarter looked good
Reichbusters has been one of my most anticipated games of the year!
Would LOVE to have a copy of Reichbusters. Nearly backed it on KS, almost late pledged, and now regretting that I didn’t do either lol.
I would like a copy of Reichbuster 🙂
Reichbusters seems interesting. I loved Wolfenstein when I was a kid, this has similar aesthetics.
Flames of War sale!!! Woohoo!
Just a really fine show…@warzan, I am getting to enjoy your narrations, especially the forays into historical. Especially like the new XLBS intro. One of the first youtubes I watched when I was thinking on starting up in the hobby again was a beastsofwar episode featuring Justin playing Kings of War II. Thanks to Gerry reviewing Warlords of Erehwon I started a whole pack of grandsons playing the game. A pack of adolescents shoving hordes of elves across the table at me with murder in their eyes can be a terrifying thing, but highly amusing. Nasty things though (elves, that is)…
I know what you mean warren about a viking hair cut. I am 63 and starting to loose my hair. My wife said NO when I said I want a viking hair cut. I went and did it anyway. As I thought if I don’t do it now I will not have the hair to do it. She went mad but OK now. It is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Good show by the way.
Great job guys, as always
Those minis could easily be used for a number of different things !!
A raft. Orthopedic bed. A foundation for building. The possibilities are endless
As if I need any more excuses to kill me some nazis!
I’d love to win the game 🙂
The vodka game looks nice, dangerous but nice. I cannot afford it nor Rikebusters, too much invested in joan. I would be intrested in 28 mms plastic WW1 figs. like the polystyrene Aortic of my youth of anyone makes them?
Reichbusters looks fun.
I am kicking myself for missing this Kickstarter! Waiting patiently for a potential retail release.
The Elder Scrolls game intrigues me. I wonder how well the rules play out.
Hmmm… that Reichbusters game does sound like lot fun. Hope to see more about it in the future.
A great watch as always. Thank you gentleman
I’m continually impressed by Mythic’s design team.
Happy weekend! I am late to the show! BUT that means a double dose today 😀
Warren’s charity hair style, I got my Tenner ready.
I bow down from Reichbusters, as I backed the KS i’ll give someone else a chance.
Loving the FoW offer, but I’ll have to let it go. Don’t get paid till next weekend, unless you wonderful guys carry it across for little old me.
Nice show guys, now of to watch XLBS.
Reich buster looks amazing, but im looking forward to see more for flames of war 🙂
Thanks for another great Weekender guys. I know you’ve been playing with the format of the show and one little critique I have is that it seems that Ben gets left out of the discussions. He does his news and kickstarter segments but otherwise he seems to be ignored. I don’t believe this is intentional at all. Maybe you need to move the monitor so that everyone sees him more? Or better yet, get a mannequin and replace the head with a monitor and sit him at the table 😛
As for a company for the Indie of the Week segment, I think Khurasan Miniatures could use a shout out. It’s just a one man operation, but he has an extensive line of 15mm historical, scifi, modern, and fantasy ranges.
I missed the kickstarter and I am dying to get my hands on Reichbusters! It looks absolutely incredible! Loved in the past the game Tannhauzer, looks like a quite great evolution of such a great game.
Desperate to play Reichbusters, love the stuff the Mythic guys do!
Another Great Weekender and lots of interesting items this week to ponder. Well now Reichbusters is being given away and those cool kickstarters
@warzan is there read across between Acre and the Mice wars, sorry BIBLE wars, with a siege at the core? Why not develop a siege rule set, asymmetrically, with mechanics that become more even in open warfare. But usable for both?
Interesting story about the Assyrians and how they might have changed the course of history in one battle. The map would certainly be redrawn if they had prevented any of the Abrahamic religions to form. But I wonder if we would be much different from a technological perspective.
The idea for Bible wars is interesting. Although I think you will get some friction between historical purists and people who like to enliven their games with a bit (a lot!) of fantasy. No way of telling which side is right.
Nice to see that Reichbusters turned out well.
@warzan these 15mm miniatures are worth a look at
http://www.scotiagrendel.com/Xyston/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=2_3&zenid=skn6a3a9s9d12n7viv8cvmvrh2
so tempted on the Creature Caster stuff
Reichbusters looks fun, but missed the KS. Boo!! Bible wars sounds like fun Warren! 10mm scale would be cool or 15 mm. Anything to hide my bad paint jobs lol.
Happy weekend!
Lovely Nomad mat! The great thing is, it could potentially be used in other sci-fi skirmish games too!
I’ll try to catch up to the XLBS later during the week 🙂
Great show. Reich busters looks amazing! And war caster, that might be worth taking ah closer look. What’s the name of the mat on your table during the show? Don’t see many with ah canal or river going through them.
Uhh, a chance to win Reichsbusters. I didn’t partizipated in the Kickstarter because of an empty wallet, but this may be my chance. 😀
Missed my usual time slot to watch this. Just caught up now. Great episode, as always.
Reichbusters looks like an absolute blast.
I’m think Scwarzeneger meets the dirty dozen meets Wolfenstein and the Eagles Nest.
Reichb7sters have some awesome miniatures inside. If I win, I will add them to my pile of shame and procrastinate about painting them up. !
Thanks for another great video everyone!
Also Justin, the Nomands have many commercial interests, like mining stations and business that are on other places then their fleet ships. And most likely a few bases in the the Warzones they fight in.
Thanks for another great show guys. Regarding Reich Busters, of all the different options for “Weird war” or WW3 or whatever, RB does seem to be a good blend of board game, playability, and dynamic moments. I almost went for it last time but my wallet resisted the impulse, maybe that was a mistake after all?
Looking forward to the next show. keep it up guys, and stay healthy!
Is Reichbusters finally going retail? Missed out on the KS but could always use a WWW2 dungeon crawler.
Excellent show, I love the new format. It has been a long time since I have watched the weekenders or any of your content. It was my Saturday and Sunday morning listebing pleasure but, I lost my beasts of war mojo and until recently my painting mojo. I was a backstager in name only.
But Reichbusters caught my eye and sparked a memory of when you showed the
kickstarter. You all made it look so much fun that I was hooked! But unfortunately
not able to participate in the
kickstarter. I loved the mechanics
especially the noise level and Warren’s
idea to apply it to St Nazaire was his
usual off the wall approach.
Anyway long story short, I am back on board!
Keep it going, you are all so good for the table top games community
But I am now back on board looking to catch up on a couple of years content!
Keep the content going team.
I’m sure I’m not the only wargamer who while at one of the museums in Jerusalem saw the model of the city as it would have looked two thousands years ago (?) and thought it would make the most amazing wargames board – it was about 6m across!
just got home.. worked this weekend. Like the beginning looks of the game.
Ugh, kicking myself for not getting this kickstarter (pun not intended), would love to nick some Nazis down to size. These figs are also pretty awesome for some Weird WWII rpgs games. Would love to try the campaigns. Kinda of like the blend of stealth and action, I saw from the demo video. Keep up the good work guys. 🙂
Reichbusters looks awesome,
I’d be interested to see your take on making your own gaming mat, be it skinned teddy’s or however else you could think of it
Great timing, gents. I’ve been working on a campaign system that uses a standard deck of cards to represent the resources/stakes that inform each game and decide the outcome of each game. Each suit represents an abstract resource/stake: economical, political, cultural/religious, and military. If a suit is depleted, then the game is won on that front.
I’m still working on the system, but your discussion gave me some additional ideas to think through. Thanks!
Just missed the reichbusters Kickstarter. Still bummed.
Another great Weekender. Reichbusters looks awesome
Bam ? reichbusters looks very swish.
Looking forward to flames of war British as well.
Reichbusters looks like fun.
I missed the Kickstarter for Reichbusters ?
Only because I was back another great Mythic Games games but would love a copy of this great game
Another great show guys
The casting technology has improved so much these last 10 years, that we have reached a point where we have to worry more every aspect of a game except the miniature quality. Well, in most cases at least. I look at the Creature Caster and the Warcaster: Neo-Mechanika minis and I left speechless. What a great time to live in.
