@mage which Transformer if you don’t mind my asking? I recently picked up three Weaponizers and Cog from Wave 1 of the War for Cybertron: Siege range and was blown away. I’m definitely in for their take on Ironhide, and should have Terrorcon Blot from Power of the Primes arriving soon, which’ll let me finish off Abominus. Amazingly that just leaves the Seacons missing from the reimagined combiners HasTak have put out. We’ve had Lio-Kaiser so SURELY they have to have them on the docket somewhere?
And funny story about those Grey Hunters – originally when 3rd Edition 40k dropped I was building a White Scars army and eventually wanted to do a Veteran Squad for them. now I wanted to lean into the more savage, mongol-inspired nature of the sons of Chogris, so decided to mix & match parts from the Tactical Squad and Khorne Berzerker kits, with a power fist from the Space Wolf upgrade sprue (handily one of the chain-axes from the Berzerkers provided the Sergeant’s top-knot). That project kinda died as I REALLY got sick of painting white, so the squad lingered for a bit until the Eye of Terror campaign book introduced the 13th Company list and the idea of Grey Slayers & Storm Claws who scavenged armour from the fallen legions to maintain their wargear, so dug up a few more parts, even some Middenheimer sprues from Mordheim for wolf-head icons that fitted perfectly where chaos sigils were. Sadly that was as far as I got with the 13th, but when I started looking to resurrect all my old Space Wolf bits for 8th edition I though this squad would be a fun addition. I was already planning a few smaller Grey Hunter packs so these guys saved me a bit of work, I just needed to swap out some weapons.
In terms of lore, well the Space Wolves are individualistic and leary of authority almost to the point of parody, but they have form for anything from lone marines up to entire Great Companies going AWOL, sometimes forever (and bearing in mind some Great Companies are comparable in size to under-strength Chapters, with the attendant materiel), so i liked the idea that this was a Pack that had bucked authority and left before they were exiled, and in the years (centuries?) since have plied the fringes of The Imperium, fighting as mercenaries on Rogue Trader or Mechanicus expeditions, occasionally dipping into acts of petty piracy to enable them to fight the enemies of mankind a bit longer (there is something fascinating about the idea of Renegade Space Marines – those who have not fallen to Chaos and hold true to their oaths whilst being pariah to The Imperium at large). But following the return of the Wulfen, and Magnus’s vengeance upon the Fenrisian star system I figured the Space Wolves would be willing to welcome back their Exiles to bolster the depleted ranks of the Great Companies and present a united front to the galaxy at large whilst they rebuilt what The Thousand Sons had tried to break…..
