In the UK right now it’s barely getting light but this dark, miserable winter won’t last forever. My thoughts are turning to the spring clean challenge and those projects that were bought with very good intentions only to founder on a lack of time, shortage of energy and a workload that refuses to be sensible.
I’ve singled out three candidates for 2021:
– Stargrave is on the way, paint up some sci-fi randoms
– Zona Alfa, modernish adventurers and radioactive nasties
– Sharp Practice Russians (about 40 fine lads ready to defend the motherland)
Anyone else overthinking their spring cleaning?
January 20, 2021 at 11:30 am #1598748https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1469592/ is right at the top of my list, but I’ve some things I’m trying to sort out over the next 60 days in the run-up to spring so plans may change as all in motion the future is, as a great frog once said
January 20, 2021 at 11:33 am #1598749January 20, 2021 at 11:08 pm #1598847I put a vague thought to it but I’ve got rid of a lot of the Well Intentioned Projects over the last year. I’ve narrowed it down to two
- Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring. 9 miniatures. I’m working on trying to get the Balin’s tomb base at the moment so if I can get that, this will be the project I go for.
- Frostgrave warband and a bunch of monsters, skeletons etc probably around 40 miniatures.
Pretty different prospects!
January 21, 2021 at 9:15 pm #1599015I think I might do an actual spring clean and go up into my parent’s roof space and dig out some of the boxes of minis that have been sitting there for maybe urgggh 30 years (doesn’t bear thinking about too much) and see what could be cleaned up and what is still sitting unpainted that might be fun to revisit.

January 22, 2021 at 9:44 pm #1599260I had planned my annual visit to armies I swore would be “done” this time next year. However today my wrist was put into a pot (cast to those outside Yorkshire) so no hobby for the foreseeable 😢😭
January 22, 2021 at 10:22 pm #1599262Oh man that’s harsh. Quick and full recovery please!
January 22, 2021 at 11:32 pm #1599278Thanks dude – it’s a lot more fun when it’s my laziness and incompetence stopping me!
I am starting to regret not getting glitter on it now though!
January 24, 2021 at 7:17 am #1599548Nothing to stop you adding your own! Wishing you a speedy recovery @nogbadthebad – stookies (Scottish variant of a pot) aren’t fun
January 24, 2021 at 8:59 pm #1599677I set up and then put on hold a spring clean project last year specifically with the intention of guilting myself into doing something about it this year. Now that we are getting toward the point where I actually have to do something about it perhaps I’m getting cold feet?
January 24, 2021 at 11:32 pm #1599751@ninjilly True but it’s horrible shit to try and tidy up no matter how carefully you go with it! Thanks dude, it’s my first and I had not anticipated the itching, the never ending itching!
Not to mention having to watch what I say around the missus who now has a third child to look after and I can’t even do bath time with the bairns to give her a break (pun not intended)!
In some ways it’s my wrist so that I can’t hobby – not sure how she’d be if it was my leg so I was still useless but could hobby….on the plus time I could still use a power drill yesterday!
