Give Justin his Mad Hat back ^^
Again another very interesting look at soviet wear
Another informative video. Thanks!
so in the next kit video we will have a look at the hind parked outside of the river house?! 😉
Needs more gear…. where’s the hind?
Love these!
Hey Gianna,
Did I hear right, you flew with the US military? I’m interested if you don’t mind, particularly in airborne military.
One of my favourite military books is “Chickenhawk” about a Huey pilot during the Vietnam war. Incredible helicopter skill and seat-of the-pants flying day-in day-out.
Cheers,
Brian
Interesting seeing the low tech soviet style.
Especially compared to say an Apache helmet.
Great content. Thanks
I wouldn’t think that a plastic helmet would protect you against pretty much anything…. Ah the silly soviets!
To be fair, a lot of western equipment is only “bump proof”.
Fair point, but I’m not sure a plastic helmet would even be bump proof…
I think with a lot of western equipment you can at least pretend it works… But I don’t know how anyone could have any illusions about the protection of their plastic helmet…. Whether or not the west had more protection in their helmets, their pilots could at least convince themselves that it did something…
I think it’s more a psychological thing. I mean, any ordinance that’s coming your way is far too big to be stopped by a regular Kevlar helmet, and bumping your head against a sharp metal object inside the cockpit would be pretty sore too!
Also, you don’t need oxygen until 12,500 feet MSL. Didn’t think hinds could go that high?
Depending on what manoeuvres they were pulling , they might have opted for Oxygen masks to help with fighting G-Forces. There are a few photos floating about of Hind pilots with Oxygen masks on.
Very interesting
that’s very cool
Another great video looking at military gear
I can see group’s from the world of tanks/planes using these flight hats for gaming?
the helmet sounds like a builder helmet guaranteed to be safe until you get hit with anything.
Pretty much! In terms of modern day, the Ops Core lids a lot of SF units use are only for bump protection, not ballistic.
Brief but informative, ideal for when your catching up on the days activities 🙂
These little flavour videos are great additions to the boot camp updates. I didn’t realise the Soviet pilots had this type of two piece system for their helmets although in ‘Hind’sight I have seen it before.
The big question it… why does that guy have a Russian Helicopter pilots helmet!
We all have our own strange fantasies. Mine was this. 😛
Thanks for these!
Nice helmet @wittmann007 but not as nice as mine ……… No innuendo required. 😉
Oo er missus!
