Unboxing RuneWars: The Miniatures Game
The RuneWars Hobby Weekend with The Army Painter and Fantasy Flight Games is just around the corner and with that, we thought we'd not only look at some of the expansions planned for the game but also unbox the core product the attendees are going to be getting.
The box is chock full of awesome miniatures, tokens, chits and more as well as some great rules booklets and that all important Lore Guide. We can't wait to get some paint down on these and build our armies with you over the coming weekend of hobby awesomeness.
We still have a couple of tickets left for the event so make sure to snap them up if this game interests you and a relaxed weekend of hobby.
Infinity Secrets Revealed With Carlos
Justin also had a chance to sit down with Carlos from Corvus Belli to talk about what's ahead at AdeptiCon, Gen Con, and...well, just around the corner for Infinity!
There's some amazing stuff coming soon including...don't tell anyone...a campaign!
Kickstarters
Let's look at what's fundraising right now...
- Relic Knights 2nd Edition - Get stuck into some awesome anime/manga action on the tabletop.
- Printable Scenery Terrain (Time Warp) - We talk with Matt Barker about his project to create awesome 3D printed terrain!
- Rising Sun Board Game - The next BIG game from CMON has hit Kickstarter. Which clan would you fight for?
Have any of those games taken your fancy or is there something else you're focusing in on?

Happy Weekend!
Yes, now the weekend can begin 😀 .
I can’t believe @brennon didn’t put the Atlantis Miniatures KS in the running order 😉 . Or has he saved it for tomorrows XLBS ?
It’s the weekend!!
Been so flat out all week that hobby barely got a look in apart from a game of Malifaux on Tuesday. Next week will be worse… Must make the most of the weekend; after I’ve watched this of course 😉
Token tray whose lids becomes scatter scenery… Genius!!!
Really looking forward to the upcoming Runewars Boot Camp. It’s crazy that those attending will essentially have an exclusive boxset due to delays.
Would be good to get some more details about the Army Painter side of it to know what the options will be.
No need to ruin the box by putting a sticker on it, @brennon. Legally changing your name is very easy these day… 😉
@lloyd
RuneWars at full-size is playedon 6×3, which is the same size as Armada.
My weekend can begin now 🙂 Those living hinge boxes look great.
I really hope customisedgaming does well, because they look well planned and original. I may get one to check how durable they are.
well i am looking forward to getting the rune wars hobby camp , 5 mins build couple of days of painting and then onto some games:-)
Those custom boxes are very handy! 🙂
Another fun weekender!
Wow I never win anything. I was going to buy this bag. I’m super happy. I tell you what BOW team, give me the name of your favourite charity and I’ll make a donation.
Really love those wooden transport cases. I would love one for Dark Age, as my Battlefoam bag is complete overkill for such a low-miniature-count game.
@lloyd why not pick up some historical Chinese or Japanese miniatures, and use them as proxies for Saga. Pick a faction and use it’s board and dice but sub in a daimiyo (leader mini), some samurai (the elite troops), and some ashigaru (rank and file troops), if you were to use a Japanese theme to the force. Most gamers I know wouldn’t mind someone doing that, as long as it’s not in a tournament (especially one with a WYSIWYG rule).
I had the opportunity to take a look at the custom boxes. They are a bit pricey (not over the top) but they are really well crafted. So they are probably not the storage solution for your man cave, but are prefectly for the more visible stuff. Lets say something on the shelf in the living room. These boxes are the perfect way to even get misses approve of miniatures and card games in plain sight. I need a few of those 😀
Those boxes are very pretty but if I dont want to magnetise my models I doubt they would be very good for me. I have to cycle with my armies and I don’t trust that even magnetised that would work. I am very intrigued by the clamps in the book boxes though.
infinity campaign you say, I’m in. the corvus belli and BOW dream team is back. can’t wait to see what’s going to happen with infinity in the stars.
luxumbra, backed.
can’t wait for the US seminars to hit the internet, Carlos will smash it like he always does.
the manga, oh god yeah. the exclusive miniature is epic and i hope the manga runs for years so we can get the whole crew.
rising sun, tempted because of the setting and the art. I no little of 4x games but if Ben says its good then that’s good enough for me.
The hard case for painting supplies look great, having one would definitely make taking your painting supplies with you much easier.
The boxes are very nice!
It would be great if you all could research and list some of the leading developers of 3D printer wargaming models and terrain. I will perform a well executed google search, but I know I will miss a few!
I’m interested in seeing how Runewars develops. Are the miniatures all the same? As in, are the rank and file miniatures repeats of each other or is there any customisability? How about the expansion sets? Are they repeats of what’s in the main box, or new sculpts?
I’m torn. On the one hand I like the idea of a self-contained game and I like the cards for customising units… But on the other, it seems to be missing quite a few of the things I consider to be important parts of the hobby.
As i say, looking forward to finding out more about it.
Happy weekend!
Holy …., I won?!
Grats mate! Finally someone I know won 🙂
I haven’t played Magicfor many years, but I want that book-like box anyway!
Also, very excited for the new Infinity Campaign, great idea to bring this time the fighting to spaceships.
Beautiful boxes, I like the fact that the models are “locked” in place.
The Rune Wars box looks massive.
You guys didn’t show the amount of stuff that was unlocked on the Relic Knights Kickstarter. I’m just pledging to get the free minis and if the game is as good as it looks then bonus. The amount of free resin minis more than makes up for the pledge and then you get a 2 player starter to boot.
That was a fully packed show – Good to see Carlos
STRIKEZONE: WOTAN…that is all
First weekend off in ages, Weekender + building Blood Bowel dwarf team = woop!
Those scenery/ storage containers are genius, if I got one I would have to get a Tohaa symbol engraved for my Infinity force in time for the new campaign =D
OMG! Another KS that’ll break my bank, well, 2 with the RK one. And right before Adepticon. BoW= Brokers of Want, enablers of the shiny syndrome.
Really interested in what Infinity news there is for us next week and I am definitely getting in on this campaign. Would love to go to the Runewars bootcamp but unfortunately work and lack of money is the issue. Those mini boxs look amazing. Definitely backing both the Relic Knights and Rising Sun which means more money to be spent.
I must admit that when my Arena Rex pledge arrived.. many moons ago.. I thought about buying a nice wooden storage box for it because – mat aside – you can easily the game components in a container of that size. I had them painted by someone who knows what they are doing with a brush but they still live in little plastic takeaway containers, nestled in tissue lol. It’s about time I got them an upgrade.
Happy Weekend!
The Customised Gaming kit looks good especially the multi function dice/card boxes doubling as scatter scenery.
Relic Knights looks awsome, the Darkspace charecters in particular 😀
The Printable Scenery kits look fantastic, would love to see some more Sci-Fi style stuff further down the line.
Great show guys 😀
Another great show guys. I have to say Relic Knights Enforcers and Pythons are must buys. They will fit in so many Scifi games. There are a few others that look interesting that I might want but for the most part I don’t care for their models. The game it self looks interesting.
Then there was Strikezone: Wotan. If its going to be in space then the Nomads are going to have the edge.
Keep up the good work.
Those storage boxes look perfect for something I have been after for a while now. I just ordered one with accessory trays so I can neatly store all my shaving equipment! Thanks BoW!
Nice boxes. Would love to see if I can use one of the smaller boxes for the Death Angle card game
Really Like the look of the storage boxes especially the card game boxes – all mine are in cheap plastic sandwich boxes from the local £1 store. If I was lucky enough to win it’d have to be the Royal Welch Fusiliers regimental badge
Awesome show, but you cost me $100 in a printed scenery kickstarter
Happy weekend guys , great show guys
LOL FFG late on delivery, really? 🙂 With their record you will be lucky to get you games in time.
Those boxes look great. I’ll let you announce me as a winner of one. I’m good like that!
Now,back to putting off my Pulp City painting!
Happy weekend!
Great Infinity scoop! Asssembling my Haqquislam force and getting ready!
The Relic Knights KS is going well and it will be interesting to play all those new units.
See you on XLBS
Really looking forward to the Runewars game!!
The execution of Joan of Arc with straight faces. I’m in awe, fellas. In awe! 🙂
It’s always fun when Carlos comes around. Operation: Flamestrike caused a big increase in the number of games played in my local area. I’m eagerly awaiting the new campaign.
Them book boxes with the clamps is a great idea!! Genius!
Not too bad today. I enjoyed the look at Runewars, love the easy to assemble mini’s.
Nice show guys, love the customised boxes. Be excellent for Frostgrave
What happened? No dwarves on the Kickstarter review 🙁 Don’t let @caesar get to you @brennon. Please make up for it on tomorrow’s show.
The hobby boxes are awesome. I want one.
great show guys love the 3D printed models.
Those hobby boxes are very cool.
I have a few ideas for a box lid. The volunteer stuff I do would make for some nice images and would really set the box apart from the average.
That Rising Sun game looks flipping interesting
Happy weekend!
Runewars looks a great game to lure “cough” get somebody into the hobby.
Great weekender again guys. Love the look of the runewars stuff, thanks for sharing with us. I only wish i could make it at the end of the month.
Rune Wars will be played on a 6′ by 3′ table space.
the small deck for Rune Wars is the “panic” deck…kind of like the Critical hits deck for X-wing.
Happy weekend! Lots of cool stuff to look for!
What was the 3D printer mentioned?
To Infinity and beyond, make room in the calendar for boot camp STRIKEZONE: WOTAN
Runewars is really starting to look amazing. But what scale is it?
I like the wood boxes. Good idea, if only my armies stayed that small 🙂
Having just watched the Rune Wars bit again It is time to argue with Ben. They are not undead grubs. They are Skeletons on Dune worms, or Arakean undead. 🙂
The boxes are really interesting. I need to test for Blood Bowl team.
I love the Printable Scenery stuff. I backed most of their projects even though I don’t own a 3D project yet. I order a Prusa some weeks ago and it should arrive in the end of March. Then I finally can give Matts models a try.
really nice box’s. Relic Knights Kickstarter going on my xmas list so hope the wife see this.
@justin, actually, the dungeon was actually already Printable Scenery’s forth or fifth crowdfunding project. They did a fantasy town, Stalingrad (15mm) and 40K+WWII stuff before.
Has FFG said how much a typical army will cost in total?
I think you made a mistake – surely the new Infinity campaign is going to be called Strikezone: WARZAN ! ;P
Now hurry up and tell us mwooooore infinini secrets! 😀
I need to get one of those for my Rogue Stars squad, The Filthy Four. Just right for holding the minis and markers. Excellent product!
I’m buying two of the magic boxes as gifts. They’re just gorgeous,
I keep saying it, but I so wish I could afford to go to the hooby camp. It’s just perfect. I can’t believe you didn’t sell out in 5 minutes flat,
What’s on either side of the Runewars box? Are those great big spacers just full of air?
This weekend for me was just taking a look at here is what Shiny Syndrome is for me. There are so many projects I want to back, but none I can realistically do, I am sinking all of my money into my own project, getting the website together and everything else and I look and I see, in no particular order.
Beautiful mini transportation which I really need if am to get more games in.
Relic Knights with some just minis which are so stylised so wonderful
Rising sun well the miniatures in that are so unique and just magnificent
Then the Dwarves on the Backstage Geez Louise the best sculpts I have ever seen for dwarves
but every pledge is another piece of artwork lost :/
So frugalness it is
I would probably engrave a box with the Infinity Morat symbol, or additional ones if space permits.
The XL Hobby Box’s look good.
Another great show full of great information. Will be nice to see the Runewars bootcamp in a few weeks.
We need a weekender of just the Johnston boys.
Did Customised gaming already call it quits? havnt been able to get on their website in at least 4-5 days now.
Same questions, I was really interested by some boxes, but website is down since one week…
