At last a the reliable way tell when weekend starts returns.
Welcome back and Happy new year all.
Yes. Finally a weekender again.
The weekend starts now!
Welcome back! I’ve missed you guys. Have a great weekend everyone!
2D or 2mm it’s probably one of those
15mm is the only scale that matters 🙂
Only if you like massive figures 😉
I am now tempted to start up a 15mm Dark Age collection thanks to Forged In Battle.
Happy Weekender all. Welcome back to everyone. Always happy to see Wofun get lots of airtime especially the Peter Dennis Range. I didn’t know about the new Peter Dennis Napoleonic range which was a pleasant surprise as the computer generated faces of the original Wofun range I’ve always found off putting. I will be winging my way over to the new range as fast as my internet connection allows no doubt. Hopefully we will see an eventual expansion to include the usual suspects like Russia and Prussia but I’m hoping for the Americans and 1812.
Peter Dennis has done a lot of artwork over the years so I bet there will be a lot of expansion content on the way
That’s true lots to look forward to. I’m a very proud owner of the Wofun Texan war range, it really is as good as it looks
Love the Heddonite of Slaanesh models.
I am posting here as well as on You Tube as I have been contemplating an Emperors Spears army and the Battleforce would be a great incentive
*bleep* *bleep* *bleep* *bleep* *bleep* *bleep* and *bleep* … yep… Warren back on stream…
are you here to win yet another set of spacemarines ? 😉
Of course… XD
Not that you’ll ever get them if you do win lol
As someone said in here earlier. We started with flats decades ago and we’ve just come full circle
Congratulations Warren on your new year in your new prison of house arrest and hard labour, if you can find a hardware open.
I missed you guys…
The battleforce you’re giving away is the dream of my son.
Those Heddonite of Slaanesh models; not a fan of AoS, but I think they would work great for Saga: Age of Magic.
Happy new year weekender everyone.
great to see you guys back
Very nice.
The Weekender is BACK!!!
I’d love to grab some of those Roman building from ‘Forged In Battle’! Very nice looking. I could build a complete ‘City of Rome’ with all those choices. If they were 28mm scale I’d use them for my ‘Clash of Spears’ armies. Guess I’ll have to look at a Roman Army in 15mm now! (thanks @warzan ??)
I picked up the ‘Gamma Wolves’ book. Fantastic stuff. I’ve been doing some modeling in 3D for creating some ‘frames’ from scratch, but I’ve been spending more time searching the Internet for all the available robo/mecha models that could be used as well. Love a game that makes you unleash your imagination! ??
I would very much like to see some of those frames that you’ve made from scratch 🙂
Was also looking at the Dream Pod 9 plastics for their Heavy Gear Game, some of their minis aren’t your usual “manga/mecha” look (well quite a few are, but some factions aren’t). They look to be about 28mm high, so you could add some 15mm sci-fi minis from GZG for the infantry and then just kitbash the Heavy Gear plastics to make some wierd and wonderful creations 🙂
Been interesting to see the Wofun product line evolve. Initially I was “just” interested in the ranges, but when they started to use the Peter Denis artwork it’s shifted me to being seriously on the fence about making a purchase.
Probably I’d be looking at forces to do a “fixed” smaller battle (such as Hastings) and treating it all as a standalone game. With the current prices coming in a less than most “all in pledges” for most of the hybrid boardgame with minis kickstarters it’s coming to make serious financial sense.
I like the idea of it being a “battle in a box” product for sure. Something you can run out with a few friends and just have fun with like a board game etc.
Indeed. During the original kickstarter Wofun did two “Battlefield in a Box” sets (one was for the Battle of Gaugamela in 331 BC and the other was Waterloo in 1815). Each box came with all the flats you needed for both armies and a special hex grid map and rules to play the game. Not sure what happened to the range (if there was no demand during the KS or something), but it was a very good idea. Getting something like Hastings in a box with the terrain/map already included would be the way to go in my book. And probably have a similar number of minis to the big players in kickstarter boardgames with minis (like Cmon or Mythic) and still come in cheaper and the big plus..NO PAINTING NEEDED (Unlike the half box of Conan minis I need to paint, but just can’t face doing year after year 🙁 )
It’s great to see that those WoFun figures exist, because I think they’d look really good in those epic mass battle rank&file games.
They do lack a bit depth for skirmish games, although that makes hiding behind trees much easier 😉
nice one guys good to you all back.
I definitely like the front/back 2D rather than the side view. I checked out the wofun site after seeing it on your YouTube episode. I’m curious as to how the 2D minis will stand on terrain such as hills? Are the bases provided by wofun weighted? If they’re not weighted, hobby time!
They’re mdf so while not weighted there shouldn’t be an issue. If a plastic or metal model will stand on your terrain then the flats will have no problem.
It’s the New Year’s first Weekender!
Time to preview some 2021 hobby…
Infinity looks amazing! Looking forward back stage.
Happy new year!!
Great to have the weekender back, was starting to go through withdrawal.
Welcome back guys, I’ve missed this :). Happy New Year to everyone.
Great to have it back!
I guess 2d minis is better than nothing. The game could be fun. And it’s less work. Like someone else said, ‘what’s old is new again” but hey, here’s looking to more good stuff down the way.
More choice – even a choice from the past – are always fun 🙂
HAPPY WEEKEND!!!
I’m definitely in for Gamma Wolves! I’ve been interested in it since Ash first did his Let’s Play expaliner video for it on his channel. 😀
It is great to have you guys back
Busy week of news. Infinity release look ace as always.
Nice to have this back.
Happy new year and great show guys
THe WoFun stuff looks really nice, might be worth looking into for a side game without too much commitment.
When I saw the subject was 2D miniature gaming I assumed you were going to talk about using tokens/coins instead of minis. That’d ruin the feel of the games overall but it got me thinking. What if starter sets also came with a sheet of tokens we could play with to start with so you could buy the box and get playing on the same day? I won the Conquest starter set last year and all I’ve done sinse is buold and paint it and I’ve a couple of weeks left to go at least. I haven’t looked at the rules yet. Even without lockdown, there’s no point. I can’t play until I’ve got it all built, and as a hobbyist, I can’t fully build it until it’s painted. It might be nice to have some cheap tokens in starter sets at least to allow people to play while they get the painting done. They could even be printed on the sides of the packaging like Infinity used to do to prevent extra waste.
Happy New Year everyone.
Ben and Gerry with a side helping of the danger brothers this episode.
Well done guys for keeping warren on a short leash as he looked like he was chomping at the bit,LOL.
Like the dark age 15 mm exposee, not really into this scale but still great content.
Looking forward to the XLBS tomorrow, missed the content over Christmas (missed you guys!)
Warren mentioned chainsaw and I suddenly had a vision of him running around pretending to be Ash. I was just waiting for a mention of a shotgun as well……
First weekender of the new year…
No pressure lads.
Although to be honest the guys could just sit around and talk about feck all and I’d still watch it and love it
Barons War looking a lot more interesting with COMABAT BISHOP!
That whooshing sound you hear overhead is my “no new projects” resolution.
Smurfs in a box? Yes please!
Initially I hated the idea of 2D flats, but the more I think about it, now I think I’d rather have an exceptionally well drawn 2D standee than a crappy, badly sculpted miniature.
It’s also a damn sight more visually appealing than a horde of unpainted metal or grey plastic across the table.
Please no more Weekenders available Friday! It’s ruined my Saturday. Mind you, I didn’t HAVE TO stay up until way after midnight watching it whilst drinking. (Just ‘coz you can doesn’t mean you should)
So glad you’re back, weekend isn’t the same without you. The forged in battle stuff looks amazing.
That Battleforce looks very spicy!
Ah yes, as someone who works from home I can finally tell what day it is now that the Weekender is back.
Over Christmas I was lucky enough to be gifted an absolute pile of TTCombat terrain kits, so I’m going to be busy over the coming weeks putting them together for some solo gaming.
Thanks guys. Good to see you again.
Happy new year, happy weekend and lucky rolls!
Happy New Year… old year… meh….
Good to see some plastic crack to kick off the year
Captured mause on its way to Moscow.

2D is a nice alternative that’s easier on the wallet and time. I use pathfinder pawns for DnD.
Happy new year all.
Another Great Weekender Guy’s and now my weekend is complete
@warzan Not all of us are french. You get to the Midlands and we’re purebloods. The french never bothered coming this far and the Vikings didn’t head this far south.
We are the last bastian against those foreign bast… the invaders.
Apart from the Normans of course
A fine first weekender of the year.
I haven’t got in to Conquest yet, but the First Blood sets look like a good entry point.
Weekends complete again now you’re back on! Looking forward to Sunday’s CoG’s sesh
Sweet! The Weekender is back!
Nice to have you guy
s back, i cant believe its been a year. What a great start to the new year, a box of blue love up for grabs. The brothers Johnson, a lot more better than a box of blue love. Then we have Ben and Jerry the tasty boys, who go down better than a tub of ice cream. Not herd of forged in battle before, i will be looking at what they have to offer from there WWII range. Six months to wait for the team yankee Warsaw Pact book damn, but they do say that good things come to those who wait. It`s great to have the weekender back, now lets see what we have in store from the XLBS.
Welcome back! Happy New Year!
I didn’t like the cardboard cutouts when we used them in boardgames and such so much that i learned sculpting and kitbashing. I don’t think i’d be going for these 2D minatures and they are definitely not in my future 🙂
Welcome to 2021 guys. I needed the weekender in my life today
Yowza! The Slaaneshi updates are indeed some things to look into now. That rivals the KS from Kensei for what I should drop money on if I weren’t busy on my current project.
Great show lads.
The new Direchasm stuff looks amazing and they just preview the lizard man faction.
I’ll openly profess a love for the Forged in Battle stuff. I regularly use the Maus, backed up by Elefants, E100 and Tigers. We call it the ‘Circus’. Their Ancients and Dark Ages stuff are amazing. War and Empire is their rule set which should be out shortly.
That 2D stuff looks great. Front on for the win.
Welcome Back
Happy new year all. It’s great to have the weekender back, hope you all had a good break over the holidays.
The Slaanesh looks fantastic, it’s not something I play but I’m tempted to get some for a painting project.
Good to see the return of the Weekender!
I love the weekend.
Another great show, and another great prize. Have a great week of gaming everyone.
ah the weekender balance has been restored 😀
My wife after seeing this week’s prize: Do we really need more space marines?
Me: Do we really not need more space marines?
At last the return of the greatest show on the world wide web, the weekender..oh my a battleforce box oh yes please, if any of need a hot oil massage “wink wink”…i will do it to win it honest…..great to have the show back lads.
Welcome back guys, happy new year, let’s hope it’s far better than the last
Those 2D minis look great and I really could see them as an entry point when starting a new game/system. Of course if you playing more than painting you could just buy hordes of them and just save both money and time.
I really do hope GW explore and expand the Slaanesh theme of decadence and excess out beyond and a step or two away from the crutch of S&M sex tropes.
Vanity, opulence and indulgence is just as much a part of the theme and much less cringe to put down on the table. Push on the 300 vibe a bit and give us something interesting!
I have the Ratte. I received it just before Xmas. It’s one hell of a beast of a model. I ordered the later variant. Not like I could ever use it for a proper game of FoW but it could make for a really cool scenario where it could be in some kind of dry docks? For it and the allies have to try and take certain objectives before the end of the game and if they don’t the Ratte starts up and the allies loose as once it gets online there’s nothing they can do to stop it.
Good to have the Weekender back. Those Kensei minis are looking good.
But will they do the battle of castle Itle for Flame of War
The Tasty Boys feat the Big Beeper!
2D flats are fine. Boardgamers, who usually don’t paint, sometimes prefer them, and have been calling for “standees” instead of grey plastic miniatures for years. Standees work fine instead of miniatures when you’re using them as pawns, rather than figures, though.
Welcome back weekenders, have missed the fun
forgedinbattle looks very, very good, need some DAK riflemen and the Ratte looks mahoosive – 125 of the queens pound holy crap! but it looks like a huge block of resin
but wy I am really here, want the spacey marines 😉
More Kroot from GW yes please! But that’s assuming Corvus Bellis doesn’t take all my money in the meantime. Great show.
The 2d armies do look amazing and they are even more tempting considering the massive army you could field with relatively little money and time invested.
Also: weekender’s back! How I missed this… snif!
Happy New Year everyone!
Ben said Gamma Wars, I heard Camel Wars. Now there’s an idea for a game, eh?
Loved having the Weekender and XLBS back. I developed Covid just as the guys went on vacation and I was forced to get through recovery by watching old episodes.
Like the Hedonites, although not as much as Warren, I’ve 3 stalled AoS projects and can’t add another 1.
I absolutely love when we get a bit of history tid-bits, like the Ratte and what not. Personally when I see those WoFun pieces, they remind me of the “Rock of Ages” people and now I just want to 3D print a boulder with a face to run around on a board with them. Great show to kickoff the new year!
Almost never get to see these anymore due to a really busy schedule. This was great to see. Really enjoyed all of the figure reviews. Good to see the Baron’s War and Kensei figures. Hope to see these on a more regular basis.
Thank you for the previews on the weekender.
Welcome back.
had to re watch this, too sleepy to take it in last week
