Evening all, looking forward to another Weekender 🙂
When you say real Demons have hooves. Are you sure your not confusing them with cows?
I think Warren’s Grandad had too much whiskey before crossing that bridge!
Firsties ? Does that make me special ? 😉
Given that NATO isn’t an option … I’ll pick the Commies.
That way any loss is a win 😀
Happy weekend all.
ME WANTS TANKS
Happy weekender.
Nice that Warcradle is doing this for FLGS. Now can we have an update on Firestorm Armada?
I’m just here for the free hugs :p
Happy Weekender All. Last week was great with all the coverage but grand to see normal service resumed ?
Thank you for another evening of great entertainment.
Love the Stonehaven trolls. Full of character… Great show as always.
Soviets for sure.
They did say in the preview that new Warcry starter set isn’t just the doors for terrain, it does have some of the 3D terrain, the bell tower and two of the walls/platforms plus some scatter terrain. So not all of the first set but a lot of it, just hope they do some different terrain cards otherwise you won’t be able to play without picking up some other stuff.
Para Bellum Household cavalry are simply awesome!
Love Stonehaven’s stuff, backed their first couple of Kickstarters… still unpainted of course. The trolls are great… actually I might have started painting one of the trolls!
Conquest I have zero interest in, think the minis are mostly wank, and really don’t justify the prices they are asking for.
Seriously tempted by 21 T-34s at £56… but the thought of building and painting them puts me off.
Set up a hobby table production line 🙂
begin the weekender madness Yay.
nice one warcradle.
The Luxlo ships are great, but my sausage fingers will never be able to put them together properly.
are the dweghom are sort of primaris dwarfs?
They’re not dwarfs, and not protesting too much either.
warzan the wizard?
T’is thut Weekend again – and the Weekender is back!
Stonehaven are an inspired choice!
Forget the Bradley’s… T-80s, commonly known as the worst Soviet Tank ever!
Oh man, I need that Xenodragon in my life
US WWII camo.

Need some warm cuddly hugs Warren. Lol.
MDF battleships for the win! So much great stuff coming out, really stoked for the future of Team Yankee. Terrific show as ever, have a great weekend guys!
Happy weekend!
Hellboy RPG was one of the very few kickstarters I’ve invested in this year. So looking forward to it.
a great show guys.
Evening all, TANKS for the show.
I love these weekend shows it bring me joy and gets my inner squirrel squirming with the indie of the week….
Thanx guys
Demonology 101: The Anatomy and Biology of Bridge Demons by Professor Warren
I hardly even listen to the hobby stuff anymore I’m so far behind on my painting…but Warren’s take on the metaphysical is a must see…
One more thing @brennon, your hobby news is spectacular and informing, thanks!
Thank you haha
Great to see you back and you all look well.
Will have to look up some Conquest.
Looking forward to painting up my Conquest along with OT crew. A great incentive to get my guys done
Weekender the highlight of my Friday evening! Thanks for the shows.
Thanks for the show. Stay healthy.
Crocs and Tanks for the win! Well done boi’s. 😀
Holy SH*T that’s a great prize. My son and I would have a crazy time playing that. We’ve been considering Team Yankee of late too to scratch the tank game itch 🙂
Great show! And very kind of y’all sending out care packages to local gaming stores.
Giving away for free, your team yankee’ing my chain!
Man I really want those Soviet tanks, I’m sure I can find a use for the yank ones as well.
Great weekender love Stonehaven mini. Com. Dungeon and laser 2 awsome dragon’s
Happy weekend one and all
Conquest looks so good! I should be painting camo on my British Team Yankee.
Woowie, those big trolls look amazing!
Happy weekend all
Not sure if giving hugs is a good idea right about now. But i take one of those elbow bumps 🙂
Cheers guys! Thanks for the best start into the weekend.
TONKS! XD @avernos I feel bad for you 😉
Happy weekend, just been indulging watching the weekender for the first time on a my new 55inch tv ?
Was that the TV advert at the end there?
I saw the Conquest display at UKGE last year and my opinion was very different to yours. Individually, each of their models does look great, but seeing everything together really just highlights that everything is repetative within units. Once I see it it makes everything look so much worse. Its like someone just selected copy and paste 40 times and looks unnatural. I know this is not a Conquest specific thing and applies to all rank and flank games, but its a huge shame when the models are so pretty. Its a really offputting effect for me.
The Gerry’s Dragon Project Link still goes to a 404 XD
Just a comment on stonehaven ifvyou are in the UK. They cost a fortune to get them I bought some gnomes they came in a tiny pack when they arrived I go charged £20 import charges because the guys put the cost of delivery on the dispatch and valued it at more than the value of the box. The whole package could have been sent in a small envelope. Would never touch them again totally not worth the cost. The minis for the gnomes are the equivalent of a 15-20mm size figure they are not with $10 a mini.
Great to see the weekender back, makes it all worth while. Newly divorced, lifes on a new start vector, so a new starter would be just what the Dr ordered. Thanks guys for your hard work and altruism.
Team Yankee box set looks cool.
Great show gents. Glad to see that you’re finally able to reopen the store as well!
I’m definately Flames of War curious and get very interested when you show off Team Yankee stuff too. Conquest looks good with slightly larger minis that are highly detailed. I guess the question is “How good is the game?”
I do like the new load of Orlocks from GW
Ooh are we going to see Hungarians? Hungarians might get me into Flames of War.
I’m glad to see OTT being proactive in supporting the gaming community and other indy retailers. I’m hoping to put an order in for the Middle Earth starter box soon to do my part in helping.
As an aside, I picked up the Dracula’s America book from osprey recently. I’m really impressed with the Osprey gaming books, Lion Rampant, Gaslands, Last Days etc. Now I just need to find the time to play them all 😀
yes! I’d add Zona Alfa to that list – I really want to get my Soviet Post Apoc on
Ah yeah, how could I forget about Zona Alfa?
Just when I thought I’d finished my Soviet force for Team Yankee along comes this new starter set. My next project was going to be reinforcements for my VDV force from a Kickstarter I backed but now I’m going to have to add some T80’s to the pile of shiny, it seems ?
Missed out on the warcry box last time, but sadly this uninspiring terrain isn’t coaxing me in. Will create a team of the AoS minis required, get a card pack and use a friend’s box set and rules.
The indi of the week was very cool, loving the hefty ent looking beasty and lots of the dwarves.
Didn’t get into Tanks the Modern skirmish game, but i have the free rules they shared and would love some modern tanks to paint and play with. Long live Tanks… World of Tanks? … The jury’s out.
I’m the same, since it doesn’t look like Mordheim gets a reboot like Necromunda did then Warcry would have to do, but as you say lack of terrain compared to the first box is a little disappointing.
The underworld (shadespire) specific minis are quite characterful and sold well. The promise of stats that make them usable in AoS was a clincher for some. I imagine that moving Mordheim to AoS would be possible, but I feel there would need to be access to additional minis or upgrade kits so that you can make a unique warband that you can feel invested in and would be fun to upgrade as a campaign progresses.
I can’t imagine an AoS Mordhiem game with just a batch of faceless stormcast vs a batch of nighthaunts creating the level of engagement required. Frostgrave has the wizard and the apprentice mechanic where they upgrade but the group technically does not and this allows you to feel less attached to the majority of your warband and this would suit AoS in this way. That said Ghost Archipelago, Rangers of Shadow Deep and Frostgrave 2 seem to encourage you to feel more attached to more of your minis, so this would suggest that the trend is leaning towards less faceless minion cannon fodder, not more. The cool plastic visualisations of spells that GW already have would perhaps make a heavily magic leaning version of Mordhiem very appealing. Some sort of crack in time would also be fun, where old and new world miniatures could fight it out in a realm rift littered city. The way to win is successfully close more portals than your enemy each battle and escape with the most rift stones, valuable and magic rich stones that form when closing rifts.
Well GW are bringing back oldhammer in some sort of capacity so I would hope that leaves the door open for a mordheim-esque game.
I do appreciate what Frostgrave and the likes are trying to do. I have the rulebook but haven’t tried it out yet. There’s a simplicity to it that I like, but as you said, the non-wizards can feel like faceless chaff. Rules these days tend to be quite lightweight but I have to say that I appreciated the complexity of some of the games, it certainly gave a feeling that a lot of your minis had a life since they had some many options in the way of injury and/or advancement.
Great show I’ve been looking forward to the latest Team Yankee release so nice to see it getting some airtime. Loved the indie pick too. First one I’ve not heard of before so well done to Ben.
“when 40K becomes fantasy.”
lol
Happy weekend. Good job on the coverage last week.
Well, Heck!!!
I tried my best to resist the ‘Conquest Slow Grow League’.
But after watching the Weekender for a second time, I found myself browsing the minis. They are a pretty nice miniature line. Love the details!
We know the army @warzan is running so I’ll be watching and waiting to see which armies the rest of the team chose to build. Heck, we don’t even know which team members are participating. Will it be @avernos @brennon @lloyd @johnlyons @dignity or a team member I’ve forgot to list!
For myself I’ve chosen ‘Hundred Kingdoms’ as my army. I can see using it in many other game systems as well.
I hope we see a lot of content for this ‘Slow Grow League’. I know that’s why I’m joining in, to recapture that feeling of being part of something larger.
I just received my first box of Para Bellum Conquest Men-at-Arms models! I must say, I am impressed with these models.
I may have to start a Project build log.
Please, please, please if you are going to talk about historicals, please show some interest and actually understand what you are talking about. Gerry understands if let him talk about it.
Also would it be a good idea in letting someone talk without childish jibes and comments?
I am sorry but the weekenders are getting close to being a joke now.
PS Buy Merch
Looking forward to ‘environmental effects in games’. One topic I’d be interested for you to cover some time is the environmental impact OF games’. The materials used, transport and disposal of components, packaging, sprues, etc. It would be very interesting to see what companies throughout the industry are doing.
Yay, weekender time again
and Justin has reappeared
Team yankee looks interesting.
MORE TANKS PLEASE “BOOM,BOOM”
YES! Well up for the Conquest slow grow. @warzan, definitely finding the minis easy to knock out. They are so forgiving at that scale. Time to go prime the pile!
Some of the Warcry doors might be a bit lame, but the lava map looks useful for other games and the two factions are good. It’s on my buy list.
Hellboy RPG looks good.
No, Archon’s Dungeons and Lasers isn’t the only dungeon terrain you’ll ever need. Aesthetically, its “thin wall” design may fit SF rooms, but make their mine and core set look more like Disney dark rides than dungeons. Dwarven Forge’s “chunky wall” aesthetics make the walls look like they’r made of stone.
OTOH, D&L terrain is practical. “Chunky” game tiles are bulky and heavy, making them difficult to transport. Dwarven Forge tiles are expensive, with their specialized game tiles even more so. The average pledge during a Dwarven Forge KS is a THOUSAND dollars, and this is from repeat customers.
Additionally, D&L’s Stretch Goal sets are some of the best prices for fantasy and dungeon room pieces. In other KS, stairs and bridges would cost you $5 each, and D&L includes them and 90+ other terrain pieces in a $20 set. Archon has also made everything from their previous D&L KS available. So, not only can new backers pick up everything they missed, but previous backers who may have been conservative and not bought everything they wanted (or had no idea how much terrain they should have bought) have another opportunity to buy more game tiles.
And they have a five-headed not-Tiamat dragon that doesn’t cost a ridiculous amount of money. Those things can easily cost $50 or more from other companies.
That Team Yankee starter box looks great. Battlefront has always produced excellent starter boxes.
Im a bit on the fence with Dungeons & Lasers. But it might be a good solution for my planed 3 levels display cabinet with Dungeon saga. Its perfect thin and have a decent texture to use for floors and backwall where it dosent take to much of the actual depth of the display area.
> But it might be a good solution for my planed 3 levels display cabinet
That’s a good point. D&L is adding connectors for multilevel display, and BoW has a video for a diorama. The “chunky” game tiles do add up with weight, and you need the bottom levels to be well-connected and come up with some way to support the weight. I’ve used pillar pieces and cardboard cut to the size of the level above it, but one good knock…
Also, the D&L SG’s should be good for accenting a display. Even if you don’t play sf, the sf SG bits, including doors, can be made into a diorama in your display.
I do love the new plastic tanks battlefront makes. they are very good compared to the old ones. I have loades of Flames of war but never got around to get some of the team yankee stuff.
I’ve been fearing the release of Bagration for some time. My friend plays Soviets and just dumps a shed load of tanks onto the table. Shooting them all is hard going but thankfully the armour on a T34 isn’t that thick. Now he gets access to IS2’s, so I may need bigger guns….
Really enjoyed your play through of Hellboy. Was a bit worried when you all split up but it came together so well that this could be the next RPG book I look at.
the important thing is “always split the party” 🙂
Plastic IS2s.. I feel a Soviet Horde army approaching.
Happy weekend all, so much awesome this week. My poor wallet.
Guys, kudos on the OTT/Warcradle package for stores; we all know they’re doing it so tough and it’s a really great thing you’re doing!
I’m in Melbourne, Australia; where we’re currently in stage 4 restrictions, which means;
* Can only leave home for 4 things (essentials, exercise, study/work, medical)
* Can’t go beyond 5km of your home
* Can only exercise for 1hr max a day
* Curfew 20:00 to 05:00
It means all our plasti-crack needs are served by post. In fact, I’ve got 5 packages coming in the next week! However a lot of store revenue comes from hosting events and people playing in-store with incidental purchases. Looking forward to seeing the other end of these lock-downs so we can join the rest of the world in being able to visit stores again!
You guys are definitely leaders and great examples of what our hobby should strive to be. Kudos to you and the guys/gals at WarCradle for helping out. I know its been tough to get together with my local group to go any gaming. I have shared this with my facebook group because I think its important that we all get back to gaming and of course the great content. Love the Team Yankee starter set…..side note….I was a Bradley mechanic in the army and they are a great vehicle. Thanks for the show and chance at the giveaway
I backed both the Gnome and Halfling Stonehaven kickstarters.
Some really great models in those collections.
Another Great Weekender Guys! We have been doing curbside hobby shopping for 4 months now here in my area, call and place your order and pick it up on the curb. Those are some awesome looking miniatures that you shared today!
The Team Yankee second edition starter set looks better than the first edition one, which I have but never played. I’ll pick it up (presuming I don’t win the give-away ?) for both Team Yankee but also to use for use with the 4th ed of Twilight 2000 RPG on kickstarter.
I hope Operation Bagration will include some Polish People’s Army lists. I’d love to recreate the Battle of Studzianki!
How do you all have time on a friday to watch the show? 😀
For me it’s the start in the new week. 🙂
Loved the look of the Stonehaven miniatures, I got a bit of a Gelfing vibe off some of the female gnomes particularly the cleric. I really got into the Trolls as well, they remind me of a style of troll I’ve seen in some form of old cartoon or animation but I can’t seem to place it.
Hi, I want a huge hug….
Oh I love russian armor too.
@warzan Did you grandad tell you the demon story after a night on the black sherbet you call Guinness by any chance lol
Hope taking 2 days to watch this doesnt effect my chances to win the Team Yankee starter set. Been telling my mates I’m getting it for some weeks now 😉
Happy thursday morning!
I think i’ll be checking that new Warcry boardgame, this looks cool and Frostgrave of course!
It’s so good to get back into watching this show. I’ve missed sooooooooooooo many competitions it seems! Mind you – I never win them anyway 😉 And I really don’t need these. Honestly, I don’t………
The Conquest minis look fantastic, really nice characters with lots of strong detail.
I’m not really keen on the GW stuff – the Warcry catacombs just don’t do it for me. As for the Orlocks – I know, it’s the nostalgia lenses again – but jetpacks should not be in Necromunda. How the hell do they scavenge this kind of tech from the lowest depths of the underhive? Yes, I know they need to evolve the game to keep people buying (they are a business after all), but………no.
Loving the Black site Studios stuff. I’m awaiting the Alien Starter bundle by Fria Lingan, and these look great. Combining these with some of the Dungeons and Lasers terrain I think you could make a great, scenic, atmospheric gaming table.
Oh, and the Dragon of Schmargonrog – if you have never seen Viva La Dirts “Epic NPC man” vids on Youtube, you need to check them out! Let’s mug ‘im!
Oops almost forget to comment for the Team Yankee. ;O) PS Warcradle mailed back and are going to help.
Justin looks so weird with his greying beard.
As always thanks everyone for the great video.
another great Weekender
