Love that the new Dystopian sprues allow so many ship class builds
It is pretty cool seeing a lot of options on one sprue
*blubb* *blubb* *blubb* now the fleet is a submarine fleet 😀
Dystopian Wars AND Brigade Models? Your spoiling me….Happy Weekender All
With Kings of War Armada and Dystopian Wars all we really need something from GW and a mini-agnostic rulesystem like Frosthaven to use everything at the same time 😉
A Dystopian weekend… Just what I need!?!?! 😉
Yay weekender time again.
Looking forward to seeing more Cursed City reveals.
I remember walking around the Wayland store in Hockley back in the day and it was the first time I came across Dystopian Wars. Had just left the world of GW behind and was discovering the gaming world beyond and was intrigued. I think I was looking at stuff for the Ottoman (?) forces. Weirdly further research led me to BOW. Wheels within wheels!!
I’m not saying that I’m drunk… but I have just watched IAmBeer on twitch and now quench a thirst for beer while looking at this here video.
Aeronef was the original game and Robert Fitton (Rottenlead) wrote Imperial Skies and also wrote the 15mm sci fi game Gruntz
I believe Imperial Skies is a slightly more detailed game which gas now taken over from Aerogel
Sadly nothing has been added to the landships range for quite some time
they will be good for people wanting to play mortal engines games?
I had a good snoop around Brigade myself: so much stuff and so tempting!
The Belgian WWI models made me think of the book War and Turpentine, which is based on the memoirs of the authors grandfather, who fought in the war on the Belgian side. I can definitely recommend it, and thinking now, would have recommended it for the OTT book club.
I used to have a lovely 6mm WW2 Belgian army
A nice way to start the weekend after my last exam! 🙂
Hammer’s Slammers. There aren’t many opportunities for me to watch a thing on the internet and feel young but here we are. Note this is not a complaint, so far from it!
I have white dwarf 67 that reviewed it, the review is not kind 😀 😀 but they quote mined it for the wiki entry to make it sound better
Blimey that’s over a year before I started.. First was #80. Excerpt from the Light Fantastic and just missed That John Blanche cover. Yes that one.
The fantasy scifi group newsletter Ragnarok used to gave loads of articles for Hammers Slammerz
I thought the Hammers Crucible was quite recent and came out about 10 years ago. Was there an earlier ruleset
no the WD review was for the novel, atrocious was one word that was used and went downhill from there
Ooh alien bread the board game?
Next on deathmatch Lloyd V Gerry for the 20mm Germans?
“loads of new stuff coming out *now* for warhammer 40k…”
yeah…
WHEREZ MY O’KZ?!
just for Lloyd.

are the sticky additions static or gluey? an can you wash them if dropped guys
static
nice they won’t get to dirty in use then.
they’re like window stickers used by shops, you can give them a wash in warm soapy water and leave them to dry if they do get manky
I have 100% been pouring over WWX material and reading the old Jesse James novels from 2013-2017 and doing my best to avoid looking too closely at Dystopian Wars.. I swear… seriously… lol… not another word about such a great setting… lol
you’ll have plenty of lupus/werewolf’s then Gerry?
Nice one Guys.
Love it! Avast yee scurvy b@#$%#ds
Do we know if there are 20mm lrdg in the pipeline? I have a scenario in mind
Has anybody shown the Wargames Atlantic Lizardmen to our “kroot shaper” overlord?… bit of kit bashing.. sci fi bitz… maybe some feathers… insta-Kroot!
Somebody needs to do a Kickstarter for “Kroots on a Train”.
Some company somewhere is going to start making them and Lloyd will be sorted for the next decade
It took me almost the entire week to browse through the Brigade Models site after you mentioned it last episode. It really is awesome but be warned, there are shedloads of rabbit holes you will fall into as you go and your wallet will most likely not survive the journey. I know mine didn’t. There are so many rulesets and mini/model ranges to choose from, I lost track of all the cool ideas for games/encounters, etc that just popped into my head as I waded through it all. Luckily, I bookmarked a lot of pages and I know I’ll be back again.
As an aside, regarding The Tasty Boys, I know that’s their collective but how do we differentiate between them? As a CoG waterboy, Gerry has always just been Our Glorious Leader and Ben is Badger Ben, as opposed to Big Ben.
Ben’s also a Water Boy, but he lurks more than I do
It’s the Weekender! ??
The ships of ‘AERONEF’ reminds me of Space 1889.
Ref Spectre dudes dangly bits. There are plasticuffs for baggingcsnd tagging.
Well that’s even cooler…in a way!
Love to play some more Dystopian Wars, my fleet has been gathering Dust for years.
Never been too much into the “small things” but those ships are really tempting imo
I always wonder how long it will take until you run out of indie miniature websites you feature 🙂
we’re fine for the rest of this year and well into next before I have to start scratching my head. Biggest issue is keeping track of the ones we’ve featured now
Ral Partha Europe could take up at least 4 weeks
The new Dystopian Wars starter will be getting picked up by me (hopefully when I win it!).
Nice to hear Privateer is going back to where they started, with an RPG. Probably the best way to hit the reset button in that universe.
Warhammer Quest; Cursed City is great news. If they redo the game engine to be similar to Blackstone Fortress they are on a winner. Otherwise I’ll just have to workout where else I’ll use those great looking models.
I was hoping for a Kill Team 2nd Edition. Hopefully this will drag Kill Team into alignment with 9th ed 40K.
I did like hammer slamers when published in a particular war games mag. The Belgians are great for “Blood and Valour” and avoid repainting french.
I have to collect them all! So many cool games, I don’t know which to start with. I would definitely like to run flames of war against some of those hammer slammer models
Unfortunately Andrea you have a new career, keeping Him in focus must be difficult. Sticking a threat in his ear just might help. If electrocution is your thing. Why is he not available on kickstarter.
There is a kickstarter called TinkerTurf Sci-Fi Terrain 2.1 I think you guys should spotlight.
Well that was an enjoyable way to spend a Saturday afternoon, thankfully I got the mowing done in the morning and could watch it with a clear conscience .Some thoughts:
1: Dystopian Wars: I have been waiting for this after having been burned to the tune of A$ 450 when Spartan went under, and I love Warcradle’s Dystopian Age. I am currently collecting both a Lawman ( we don’t like lawdogs around here) Outlaws (specifically the outlaw part, all wearing some red if not a sash, not the confederates or Central American themed models .. Outlaws are really diverse faction) and have more Red Oak scenery than I can stand to think of. Warcradle is really doing things the right way and I love this and Stu’s Blue Monday appearance (it has been too long Stu)I haven’t ordered it yet though because I AM going to finish my Mantic Armada starter first ( I love Ronnie and the lad’s work too)Thanks for showing it Warren in your lovely games room *pure covetous envy* it is definitely a must buy now (Warren, you have single handedly been responsible for me spending close to 12 hours this week sorting, tiding and cleaning my games area and effects…everyone else in my household loves you …. you sod …. 🙂 )
2: I really like the look of GW’s new Warhammerquest game it itches so many scratches…. and the two models shown so far are the mallard’s testicles .
3.I have backed the warmachine requiem rpg kickstarter and everything Ben said is right . The world is so well fleshed out and unique in it’s own way, with a history, monsters and character types that you don’t see in other settings. My only hope is that this is not a “one-and-done” thing from Privateer and they continue to support it for at least a few years with further adventures, settings supplements faction specific character books and more monsternomicons. (There is enough there to be going on with Privateer , … hope to it 🙂 )
4. I have a confession. I usually love the Warren meets mat segment for the faces he pulls in the intro. This time however was genuinely interesting; what a great product from Loke!!. I shall be investing this further once I stop typing….. oh and it was in Warren’s gamesroom too … *deeper sigh*
Enjoy the balance of your weekend lads and fellow readers. All the best B.
Oh, yes I want the starter set, I’ll need it for the game aids and everything to play, but can I use my old Fleet?
Another good show guys, lots of gaming newness to check out…
That’s a great looking starter set!
Thank you for exposing me to Brigade Models. Aeronef looks amazing… My wife and bank balance are less than happy. Plus Warren meets Mat is always a winner.
afternoon all, time to weekender
@lloyd @brennon the keychains are actually bundles of cyalume (glow sticks) that are used for all sorts of things. like marking safe routes to walk down and marking rooms as ‘clear from bad guys’
I still think someone needs to model a Sister of Battle, driving a Paragon Warsuit, that’s driving a Grey Knight Dredknight.
It would be the 40k version of a Turducken
Best Show Ever ?
Love the look of that starter set. Will my old stuff work in the new system?
@lloyd the sidearm on the spectre miniatures is a modified Glock, with a suppressor, red dot and light.
Great show guys. I have thoroughly enjoyed your introduction,to me, of Brigade Models. Really liking Hammer’s Slammers.
I’ve always liked the world of warmachine, even though I haven’t played the mini game since probably at least 10 years. I might look into the kickstarter.
Dystopian Wars looks fun, hope you’re going to do a let’s play. Have a fantastic weekend, all!
Another Great Weekender Guy’s! Dystopian Wars miniatures are pretty awesome looking
If the people that live there refer to their reality as the “Dystopian Age”, they presumably know themselves to be living in one of a number of Dystopias. So why don’t they do something about it, and why is the interior propoganda so poor that the citizens believe themselves to be in a Dystopia, instead of free thinking citizens fighting all the other Dystopias?
Or am I overthinking this?
Happy weekend everyone. Hope you all are safe.
Happy weekend!
Thanks for the Warren meets mat segment, it answers some of my questions, although, i’ll be waiting after the “event”, since we can’t play in person overhere…
I’ll be checking the new Warhammer Quest game future previews, i like i what i see so far!
See you guys on XLBS!
I have backed Iron Kingdoms Requiem and they have released some info about classes, Gun Mage specifically, which seems to built like a Warlock which seems a good idea.
They’ve also do a playthrough which I’ve not had chance to watch yet.
Art is always good in Iron Kingdoms stuff.
totally agree with the statement: Assembly guide belongs into the box
ships look great, not sure about the never-ending exploding 6’s, which i think is still in this version, but fun when you roll lots, not fun when it happens to you 🙂
I’m hastily painting my Britannia fleet and awaiting my new rule book to get cracking with this.
Will this be the year I finally crack on with WWX? All this talk of Dystopian Wars might actually be the kick ?
Gotta say those books of battle mats look really good.
So many cool uses!
What a Weekender for the wallet! Some lovely stuff highlighted as always. I didn’t realise how much of Spartan was picked up by Warcradle. Very keen to see what they do with Firestorm in the future too
The new Dystopian stuff likes nice, and the back ground is interesting. Now if i had started all those years back when it first come out, i would have a collection to rival my 40k stuff, but alas the game Dystopian never had that pull that gets people in to a game system. I had a look at Brigade Models last week, and felt my wallet tugging at me. Now you go and show them again, but there gonna have to wait till next payday. Nice to see Warren meets Mat is back, it has been awhile. Spectre operations delta assault squad look really nice, i could see me getting them if there
s nothing on Brigade Models that takes my fancy.Great show guys, now of to watch the XLBS.
The Dystopian Wars ships are much bigger than i thought ? Looks like a lot of fun.
Starter set looks awesome. Another great show guys. Happy weekend
Great episode. Dystopian wars looks great
Liking the look of the Dystopian Wars starter set – looks a cracking entry point into the game. Lovely looking models as well.
I never thought I would give much thought to books of battlemaps but having seen those Loke battlemats I can see all kinds of potential uses.
I just had a closer look at the Gale Force Nine Alien Warrior plastic kit – and I can only recommend NOT to buy it. These are not the creatures we see in ALIENS. The design of the creatures in Cameron’s ALIENs is basically the Giger-Alien from ALIEN sans the clear smooth dome on the head. The creatures in Gale Force Nine’s box, however, is clearly based on the more cartoonish, strangely fleshy and shit-looking design implemented in ALIEN 3 and all following ALIEN-movies, including the god-awful AvP-movies, and these differ in detail, proportions and overall look. They are an inferior designer’s interpretation of a genius designer’s amazing work. In my opinion, it’s an insolence on the part of Gale Force Nine to advertise them with the label ALIENS, thereby claiming they are what you see in that movie, when they are clearly not.
I really like those Battlemat book sets. Such a cool idea
Hammers Slammers what a setting.
I have a spure of the Dystopian ships and they are amazing and full of options. Lovely models, nicely detailed and easy to put together.
I actually found the books quite boring
I have never read the books but love the game put on at Salute
That Aliens game is kinda tempting. But I keep buying co-ops. Hmm.
only youtube come on lloyd say it not so
Now those look like entertaining navies to paint.
Dystopian wars looks good, but a good naval game needs bases on the minis, just for arcs and moving strait
A lot of interesting stuff in this episode. I really the Book of Battle mats. I think they would work really nice with Frostgrave and other skirmish games.
I’ve heard Warcradle will provide unit cards for the older models as well, hoping for some side by side comparisons of the new and old models to see how well they match up
I think those things on the spectre Models are zip ties for arresting people @brennon …I think
