I love the look of TAG. I’ve window shopped the Nam range more than a few times.
And the week is over Yaaaay.
Yay congratulations you have a STD ?
Look at the shiny shiny Gerry.
Ooh here’s a hoof man.?
??? Gerry ???
I remember talking about old Necromunda with Dead Dave and it turned out I was talking about Confrontation. Brats they were great, much better than Spyrers. Would be all over Spyrers if Forge World oblige.
Still got a couple of the old Brats minis stashed away somewhere (not sure if I’ve got the old plastic Imperial Guard Arms and weapons that came with them however). Confrontation was great (although probably one of the few GW systems that didn’t use a bucket of D6s to resolve combat). I did remind me of a rather simplified version of “Laserburn” (published by Tabletop Games back in the 80s written by former GW alumni Bryan Ansell) which strangely had “Space Marines”, the “Imperium” and even “Red Redemptionists” in. I think the main thing I LOVED about those rules was the artwork. There were some pretty nice minis produced for the game (sadly these weren’t available for long as some after the first Necromunda game was released, and these minis disappeared (rather than being integrated into Necromunda). But there’s some pictures from Andy Chamber’s collection here https://johnwombat.wordpress.com/2020/05/29/the-overfiend-a-talk-with-andy-chambers-part-3/
Kid’s ha get the blood an gore flowing toughen them up people.
WINTER IS COMING.
Fab show guy’s.
Was it the VC from https://www.fullmetalminiatures.com/viet-cong-local-force-18-c.asp
Dunno who you’ve been talking to Brennon, but the Core rulebook and a gang “codex” isn’t going to get you near when it comes to the rules. Why to use the figures highlighted in this weekender you would also need…
The Aranthian Succession – Cinderak Burning £30
Necromunda: Book of the Outcast £30
House of Blades £30
Ash Wastes Rulebook (not available separately you would have to buy the Ash Wastes Box set (at £180) to access this)
You would be far better off (using hindsight) in using the minis (which ARE excellent) with either the Inq28 rules or the Fan Based Edition of the 1990s ruleset, as spending a couple of hundred quid to gain access to ANY game systems rules are just silly (never mind the spend on the minis themselves).
A friend of mine was looking into getting Necromunda and asked me what the minimum rule books would be needed. It’s quite a difficult one to answer as the rules (as a whole) are a mess, spread over mutiple books, the same rule reprinted and updated many times in each book. So I said just buy the minis you like and used the CE edition of Necromunda or Inq28 rulesets instead.
I sent him the list of rules that were published (so that he didn’t end up getting rulebooks/cards that were out of date via ebay) and shocked myself on how much I spent over the past 5 years buying just the rules for the game (even although I like many others didn’t get sucked into getting Ash Wastes amd the whole vehicular combat thing (which just doesn’t seem like Necromunda to me), as you can see below…..

To get up to date (buy rules etc on ebay) £110
Facing this kind of spend to get ALL the rules, as I said for your wallet (and sanity), just get the rules available from the web. Although the old CE version of Necromunda doesn’t have the alternate activation rules from the new set baked in, there’s a additional download where someone did all the hard work to get this mechanic usable in the 1990s version of the rules. As a note if you want to get into getting the tactics cards you’ve got to be careful as GW seems to have dropped the tactics from the V1.0 version of the cards (although they haven’t officially done so as it would have had a lot of players who bought the cards kicking off). Instead look for the artwork on the box front to try and differentiate between the two versions (a fair few players dumped their V1.0 cards on eBay) and obtain the later sets (although these rules on the V2.0 cards ARE printed in each of the Gang Codex books if you would rather save money and make your own 🙂 )
Sorry for the “wall of text” here, but when it comes to trying to explain the history of the Necromunda rules (post 2017), just like the source material it’s overly complicated and hard to follow 😀
@brennon The Three Kingdom period was at the end of the Han Dynasty 220 to 280 AD. The Jin Dynasty followed the three kingdom period
14th Century China was the start of the Ming Dynasty 1368 to 1644.
There is a Dynasty Warriors miniatures game in China. I have the Liu Bei figure on horseback.
So John doesn’t know about the Panzerbusche 38/39? For good reason. By mid/late war they were effectively useless against thicker armour; that model looks like it’s been adapted into a grenade launcher, which many were.
Been looking at Runar KS, and the other vibe I’ve picked up on is the artwork of Mihajlo Dimitrievski (The Mico) in Shem Phillips’ North Sea trilogy of games.
I thought the Russian Girls was the prize, lol
I’m looking forward to see how you guys take cute cartoon dinosaurs and make it 18 rated.
You had me at Mongol Camel Drummer. Have a great weekend folks!
Cao Cao and the Three Kingdoms (Dynasty Warriors) was, as previously mentioned, around 200-280 CE. End of the Han, Warlord era, after the Warring States. Ben’s 14 century comment might be down to when the “Romance of the Three Kingdoms” was written.
I like Khurasan, and the DAK might result in me actually starting to work on the long shelved “Gear Krieg: North Africa” project. I’ve not found the “right” infantry to present – but these may fit the bill
Wow i backed something before it showed up on a weekender.
Nothing to worry about me accidentally buying this week ?
Already want the Escher bikes
Surfs up dude!
Totally agree Necromunda is awesome and the best way to play 40k. The Spanish Guerrillas are crying out to be used in Silver Bayonet l!
great show!! happy weekender
I don’t know about frying eggs, but I’ve seen an youtube video of a gun nut who wrapped raw bacon around the barrel of a machine gun (assault rifle I think) and fire it until the barrel heated enough to cook the bacon.
