Have a great weekend. Stay safe and hobby at home if you can.
Not last.
The Weekender is a fantastic way to start off my holiday weekend here in America!
Love the ‘Claymore Castings’ minis. I’m doing my best to resist ordering some right now as the last three Weekenders have dipped into my wallet as I was watching them. Really good selections you lot have been putting before us. ?
The fabric mats from ‘Geek Villain Mats’ look great. We used to do that with just green, brown, or white felt. The printing looks really good. I just bought a Deepcut Mat last week from acrossed the pond and it arrived in just over a week. I may need to give ‘Geek Villain Mats’ a try.
I’ll diffinetly be picking up the Atomic Mass Games ‘Ant-Man & the Wasp’.
in your neck of the woods I would definitely pay a visit to Cigar Box Battles range of mats.
I’ll look into that.
Thanks for the heads up!
I have 4 of them, two of them are double sided Fritz does some good reviews of them https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEZQbWQAgKQ
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hu1jYvW_N3A
also he’s a great guy and his channel is definitely worth a sub
Well, I have to say Thanks again!
I’m enjoying Fritz’s channel very much. My recent entry into 10mm Wargaming will be served well by watching his previous work. He’s got a lot of interesting and cool vids.
Also, I’ve decided to give the ‘Cigar Box Battle’ Mats a go! I have always liked the ability to throw items under a soft mat or cloth and have natural looking hills.
@templar007 If your doing ww2 or WW3 check out red 3 miniatures if you haven’t already
https://www.red3miniatures.co.uk/
That’s quite a nice selection of 10mm! @torros
I’ve added that site to my board of sticky-notes in my digital studio were all my money is sucked out of my wallet. I’m never going to be able to retire at this rate! ?
I couldn’t agree mor about those mats from Geek Villain Mats, awesome stuff!
@alfonsothetraitor I can imagine some foam hills placed at the back of the long ends of the table with a GVM cloth ‘Battle Mat’ over the top of it and then your two Japanese Armies facing off for a decisive battle with the Generals on horseback on the hills looking down on the troops!
If you ever do that I’d love to see some pictures. ??
Oh , trust me I will my friend 😉
I is early for a change, what a lovely prize collection to wish for,
Have a good weekend (and bank holiday for those in the right countries)
That is a juicy prize this weekend! And awesome mini’s indeed
Those Claymore Castings look great.
Have a great weekend! Thanks for the weekly update!
yay let the fun weekender begin.
nice looking knights an archers/crossbows longshanks was the barsteward that tortured an killed William Wallace @warzan
Happy Friday all ?
the mat looks fabulous.
@warzan For reading on the HYW I would recommend the 4 book series by Jonathon Sumption. Each book is only about 1200 pages and is a great read
David Imrie who runs Claymore castings is a great painter and would recommend his Saxon dog blog and Facebook page if you want to drool over some lovely painting
At 52:42 I poured myself a beer. At 64:13 the pizza arrived. Bliss. Great show, see you all Sunday,
Bloody hell Fridays come round quick again…
Stay safe everyone, Keep on Gaming!
Classic Quest looks very tempting
I keep forgetting this goes out on Friday now…
It’s the Weekend!
Am I allowed to ge slightly peeved with RGG that having waited ages for them to perfect their handle and only having it a few months that they’re already planning the improved handle.
Happy Weekend to all. That Hobby bundle is awesome, i would like to win it 😉
Great show this week gents.. Have a great weekend.. FoW needs another come back.. I need more inspiration
Redgrass painting gear is really nice. I’d love to get me some brushes; I have the basic wet palette and it’s great – and that spinny handle thing? I guess it’d be interesting to try it out….
its finally weekend.
Keep it going! Really enjoying the weekender from y’alls homes.
love the show an the great new figures coming out.
An Orc hitchhiker? Sounds legit!
Lovely Battle mats I’d love to own one.
Have a happy weekender!
Great show guys claymore castings just wow amazing will be checking these guys out, stay safe happy gaming!
When the crossbow dudes hiding behind shields exactly matched where you were talking about that exact thing in the 100 years war made me think you could do bite sized history lessons using miniatures as the illustration. Ref the source of the pic and all of a sudden you have lesson of the week meets indie of the week meets awesome gaming showcase!
“Neverlasting wet pallet”? Was that a slip of the tongue or am I not awake yet?
Been using the RGG wet palette and been very pleased. Not checked out their other bits yet, but looks good
The Claymore Castings are awesome!
Those new cloth mats look very interesting, do love the concept of latering over landscape features.
it’s excellent for natural terrain features, you don’t need a ton of different hills and the like, just change the mat over the top
what a price
Claymore castings are truly amazing and the sculpts are up there with Paul Hicks.
Warren funny you mentioned Joan of Arc for 100 year war gaming as I use mine mainly for Rangers of Shadow deep at the moment. Love the minis and the scenery.
Lord hammerstripe isnt just a badger. He’s a dwarf who has been turned in to a were-badger. I was expecting to see bens head explode with delight but he didn’t seem to know all about that.
As for Puffnathrax. He was a magic dragon who put his soul in a metal body to avoid death long enough to become a god. However he is cursed to always be corroding and constantly needs repairs. As such, Puff (nathrax is indeed) the magic dragon (whos metal is corroding as if) he lived by the sea. I can only asume they chose that name on purpose.
Classic Quest is definitely tempting me. My concern is how much I’ll actually get to play, as Massive Darkness is still sitting on my shelf of shame… it’s also great to see more solo Wargaming thoughts – this is a trend that’s been growing in the boardgame community for some me time now, and the current world shows benefits for this niche.
Deep fried Mars Bar? Back in Nottingham a housemate brought one back (Windmill Chippy, Sneinton, 90s, long gone, RIP). We all had a look at it, none of us fancied it, it kicked around the living room for a few days before I binned it.
Maybe it’s not … a delicacy to get that far south but the problem was it looked too much like a poo. I’d take some stinky Parisian cheese over a deep fried Mars any day!
Kush was Egypt’s southern neighbour, centred around what is now northern Sudan, but with borders changing as they did. They did rule Egypt for about a century: the 25th dynasty
I think it’s about time I bought a 3d printer, I’m definitely getting a strong sense of FOMO.
In the meantime, wallet meet Claymore Castings!
Fantastic show as ever. Have a great weekend guys!
love the show as normal. 3D printing is great if you have a printer finding someone to print for that dont over price is another thing I feel .
Well this weeks show took me back to my gaming roots! @warzan mat and the hills to the days when your gaming groups most popular member was the one with the Subbuteo cloth. Hills were various sized books and magazines found in the class resources room at the school we met in (Alumwell comprehensive, and strangely enough the Alumwell Wargames group who still run WMMMs).
Then was @brennon indy of the week, medievals , our little group got a rep at that show for putting on medieval skirmish games using a set that probably only @avernos would remember ‘Retinue’.In fact our little group was named from these games ‘Knights Mercian’. If not for having so many other projects would be tempted. Though still have a box of individually base and painted 15mm medievals ( Mikes Models I believe @avernos )that am tempted to rebase for Saga. Its those games that led us to meeting Keith a current member of our group who did dark age reinactment and used to play in costume.
have just seen the weekender.
lots of interesting new things!
love the felt mat, definitely take a look.
but the medieval miniatures of Claymore Castings so much character, I really need some city guards.
safe weekend everyone ??
????
Claymore Castings have really great miniatures. Hope they will also edit the flags for John the Blind whose rests lie in our cathedral. And the Genovese hiding behind the pavises are wonderfull sculpts with a unique character not often found in medieval miniatures. I am looking forward for the reopening after lockdown. My stock of unpainted miniatures is dangerouly reaching low levels. On the other side my storage reached 90% saturation. Home office allows time savings i use for painting instead of commuting. My weekly petrol savings will go for these miniatures.
Keep safe and wash your hands
they periodically open take orders to capacity and then close until they have fulfilled those.
Who else is jealous of Lloyds storage, it can’t be just me
I have been since I first laid eyes on it.
But now I’m starting to wonder if it’s just a clever ‘photoshop’ illusion, as I’ve not seen him open any drawers or film any project work alongs lately! ?
They are filled with saga minis. Although a tour of Lloyd’s storage would be cool. Love to all Warrens done with his new stuff too
Great show! Weekender show = Hobby for me.
My weekends are blessed with the sound of Irish voices. Have a great weekend all.
Another Great Weekender and the Claymore Castings are awesome looking and can be used for either Historical or Fantasy armies. Antman and Wasp are looking very cool addition to the game. Great interview with Mike from Firelock Games, the solo engine is very useful in this day and age.
Ben really needs a mute button for the over caffeinated Warren 😛
But then we’d have to remind @brennon “that with great power comes great responsibility”
Not that the Badger King would let power go to his head! I could for see the first episode with Ben keeping @warzan in check and then the next episode would be 2 hours of ‘Burrow and Badgers’. ? Not that that is a bad thing.
You know, maybe we should ask @brennon for a one hour special on ‘All things Burrows and Badgers’?
Good to see Justin in the show. I’ll probably have a go at Blood & Plunder solo mode, need to improvise on the terrain.
Both 3d printing Kickstarters look fantastic, and I might not be able to skip the Kushites for Mortal Gods.
New series idea – Warren Would. The first one should be a history lesson.
I think that “Warren Would” present ‘alternate’ histories as to what his conspiracy theories might dictate. Not a bad idea to channel his imagination to game in the gaps and funnel his fancies to things less esoteric like Sea People, UAPs and yetis (Gerry excluded). Could this be a feature on any revised “Wheel of Distraction” once the guys get back to the studio?
Always a pleasure to sit down and watch every week. Thank you for all you’ve done over the last couple of months and beyond. It’s really appreciated.
Happy weekend!
Lots of cool stuff coming up and i’ll be getting Ant-Man & the Wasp when the box comes out (it should be a very quick paintjob too 😉 ).
See you guys on XLBS!
Ah, man! Those Claymore figures look amazing! I will have to do some research to see if I can sneak some of them(the archers possibly) into my 12th century Danish host
depends how accurate you are being. 13th century definitely, 12th it’s a bit dicey for certain things, late 12th blurs it a bit.
The 3d printing file kickstarters look great.
I am just waiting for a kickstarter that offers files to print a whole army.
With light, medium and heavy troops, cavalry, chariots and war machines.
As stretch goals more alternative poses.
That would be great.
The sheer variety of poses in the Claymore Castings soldiers is amazing. Another part of Olde
English history putting a drain on my wallet….just spectacular
Great show guys. Keep up the good work. Happy Weekend! Man. Those 100 Years War miniatures are off the friggen hook!
@dignity … alive and well for as long as we can keep tabs on him. Now about this Puffnathrax @brennon … Is this going to be your start into the agnostic mini crack that @avernos and @lloyd have waited to start pushing into the world of SAGA Age of Magic? Dwarven smiths with gnomish engineers to build a terrible engine of doom and destruction sounds like something you need to start into. As @warzan says “Come on, you know you wanna”
Great show. My highlight recently has been “indy of the week”. There are loads of amazing sculpts out there I wouldn’t have otherwise known about. @warzan a quick suggestion, could you set up a page with hyperlinks to all the companies mentioned for future reference. I’m sure there are people like me with bad memories, going “what was the name of that company again” 6 months down the line.
we are looking at cutting those parts out and making them into a separate playlist…so yes it’s being planned once we work out where to put it
I like that idea @avernos give yourself an ‘At-a-Boy’…. ?
(you can’t cash them in, but they look good on the wall) ??
I do like that Warlock terrain, but it’s still expensive. Until I win that lottery I guess I’ll never get to throw down a 3d dungeon on my tabletop… just cardboard tiles, a few terrain items and imagination.
… how did I miss this yesterday ??? I worry me sometimes….
Those Claymore miniatures are awesome, would they fit into the War of the Roses period????
Great show keep up the good work!
Great miniature range from Claymore Casting. I’m tempted to get a few of those men at arms to use as champions for my Warhammer Empire army.
Keep the indies coming. I think it’s the best segment of the show.
Spiders with lasers, nuff said.
I like the look of the ‘Claymore Castings’ minis, but will resist buying more dust gathers for now. The fabric mats though look good and may look to get one of them, great idea to make oversized to allow some terrain to be placed underneath.
Somehow I got the feeling one day I must go and get one of these 3D printer things for me..
@warzan “I’ve finished talking shite now”
Hmm… We’re twenty minutes in to the show. If we get to the end without any more tangents I’m Gengis Khan! 🙂
Sorry, sorry – I’m running late this week! Happy Weekender, everyone!
Loving the 3d printable stuff on Kickstarter – now I just need to get a 3d printer. Easier said than done, when all the resin printers seem to be like hens teeth at the moment – or you don’t mind being price-gouged to infinity and beyond! (eg, Phrozen mini – $200 retail(about £180ish)- I cannot find for less than £350!)
The Infinity range look pretty darn stunning – but since only one other person I know has even a passing interest, I might just get some of these to paint up for the fun.
Well, stay safe and hobby on.
On the topic of bugs… Ant Man and Wasp? Yes.
Spiders with laser guns… meh, I don’t think so.
Anyone else used to put books under an upside down Subuteo mat for hills back in the day?
@ugleb oh yes indeed
I’m not into historical gaming but Claymore casting miniatures are really good that I’m considering either a Frostgrave project around a few of those miniatures. If I had a bit more spare cash I would really consider making a system agnostic human fantasy army and this is coming from a player that only ever played Dwarfs 🙂
This week’s episode is just packed with good stuff. The mat looks great and I’m gonna have to get one. The Conquest stuff is cool and the medieval minis are gorgeous. Looking forward to the XLBS.
Hey, and Justin is still alive.
Nice vid as always guys
Watched this and went in on 2 kickstarters. Confinement has not been good for my impulse control! Bring on Classic Quest (please be set in the realm of Generica) Heroquest got its hooks into me 30 years ago, time to share the joy with the next generation 🙂
Those are some of the nicest medieval miniatures I’ve seen!
Loving the look of those fabric matts, might have to find some polystyrene after this mess and look at graduating to scratch build terrain.
Finally another Warren meets mat! – My favourite format!
The miniature from the GW reminds me of an actor. I don’t remember his name, in a action or police movie maybe.
For best results when applying transfers I found to coat the area with gloss varnish, then micro sol, and then apply the transfer. After that you put on some micro set, then gloss varnish, and finally matte varnish. The transfers will end up looking like they’ve always been a part of the model.
Those miniatures from Claymore Castings are fantastic.
thanks for keeping me sane at home
