Cyberpunk Diorama by darkvernon

We start off this week with a couple of diorama/vignette-style pieces from darkvernon who has returned to the site after a little bit of time off. They have come back to the What Are You Painting Now? thread to show off an absolutely fantastic piece showcasing a 40mm Cyberpunk miniature.

Cyberpunk Diorama #1 by darkvernon

This is a fantastic-looking miniature that came from a forthcoming Kickstarter project. The colour scheme came from darkvernon's other half and I think it works very well indeed. The pink and yellow are on point and I love the Android: Netrunner vibes that the miniature gives off. It also works really nicely as a contrast to the utterly grim background that this Cyberpunk lady finds herself in.

Cyberpunk Diorama #2 by darkvernon

I've not, particularly ever worked with dioramas like this but I think it looks brilliant and certainly inspires. I like the addition of the toxic ooze coming out of the pipe and all of the little extra details popping up here and there on the newspaper and poster.

As if that wasn't enough, there was also this fantastic miniature from the old Knight Models collection showing off the dashing Han Solo!

Han Solo Diorama by darkvernon

darkvernon has done some excellent work on both of these pieces and they have totally got me in the mood to do something scenery-based. I might try and use some of the pieces from the Battle Of Osgiliath set to make a tumble down part of the city that is under siege by the Orcs. It could be time for a display board!

Zombicide Undead by taochi

Next up, we're looking at the work of taochi who has been delving into painting up a mass of the undead for Zombicide. I always like seeing people power through mounds of miniatures (as we saw last week) and this is no different.

Zombicide Undead #1 by taochi

A mix of Contrast Paints and paints from The Army Painter have been used to bring these to life. I particularly like the occasional dab of Vallejo fluorescent paint has been used here and there to make them look like proper cartoon zombies that have been brought to life by some strange chemical or something mixed with a bit of magic.

Zombicide Undead #2 by taochi

I really like that zombies open up so many options when it comes to painting and have you thinking about some utterly wild combinations. Who could say no to that glowing yellow fellow in the middle (above)? I like that the red has been used to break it up and show off the torn skin and muscle beneath.

Zombicide Undead #3 by taochi

If you're looking for some fun tips and tricks for painting zombies then I would wholeheartedly look into the project from taochi. I am a big fan of the denim that you can see on display here. Some of them are even wearing the dreaded double denim! Shock and horror more powerful than any zombie.

The Final Push (Kingdom Death) by lawnor

Finally, we have a look at some amazing work by lawnor. They are working to quite literally paint every miniature in their collection and as 2023 begins, the process is ongoing and there isn't much left in the collection to finish off. This time around, we saw some of their brilliant Kingdom Death: Monster characters.

Kingdom Death #1 by lawnor

Much like with the miniatures from taochi, I think that the work on the Kingdom Death range opens up some fun chances for you to paint up miniatures in a variety of different styles. There are also so many characters that I didn't actually know exist in this collection that are fun to see coming to life.

Kingdom Death #2 by lawnor

There are some fantastic miniatures in this latest update and I'm sure there will be a lot more in the coming months. I really like that there is this running counter of just what's left in the collection and what is on the way to being done. I dread to think what would happen if I broke open my pile of potential to have a look at something similar.

Oh, and have a funky weird monster baby...

Kingdom Death #3 by lawnor

The work from lawnor is truly inspiring and I think it would be great to consider diving into your own pile of potential over the course of 2023. Make sure to dive in and give us your thoughts on all of the projects in the comments!
