Games Workshop showed off a bunch of miniatures over the weekend and some of the favourites seem to be the new Gnome team that you'll be able to pick up for Blood Bowl! Gnomes are one of those factions that doesn't often get a look in when it comes to Warhammer but they've now burst forth from their burrows!

Often keeping to themselves, the Gnomes are now looking to make a name for themselves in the "big leagues". They rush into the scrum alongside some adorable woodland companions who aid them in their scuffles. Within the team, you've got team members like the Beastmaster and their goose and all manner of other furry friends like foxes and badgers.

The team is looking genuinely awesome and it's nice to see how much space there is to have fun with miniature design in the smaller games by Games Workshop. Warhammer 40,000 and to a similar degree, Warhammer Age Of Sigmar feel like they have to hit certain notes but the work in games like Necromunda, Warhammer Underworlds and Blood Bowl is full-blown jazz.

I'm sure that a lot of people are going to be picking up this Blood Bowl team even if they don't play games with them. They have a wonderful sense of character to them and I like the mix of poses and such that we see on display here. That illusionist above (last image) is great fun, sneakily tricking your opponents before scarpering away with the ball.

As well as the Gnomes, you can also get your hands on a new Big Guy for your team in the form of the Altern Forest Treemen.

Due to their connection with nature, the Gnomes can call on one of these fellows as an ally during your matches. It will be very helpful having one of these folks watching over your front line and taking on some of the beefier Blood Bowl players out there.

There are some great options for the Treeman to choose from and it's neat that you can make two of them so you can solidify your line of defence. I think we're missing a few woodland critters coming along for the ride though and that needs to be remedied!
