Morning all! ??
Morning
Good night 😉
?night, night
Jaysus Andy you’re up early, getting BoW/Otter withdrawal. Not get enough last weekend 😉 good morning:?
Hi mate, I was woken up early this morning by my Sal doing her version of hitler’s buzz saw, so thought I’d see what Jim got up to on the weekender. I see Warren’s got Gerry in to go over the battle of Biffin’s bridge in the XLBS, that could be interesting.
Be afraid………….be VERY afraid!
Oh god noooo………
Okay, woken up fully now and put a good dent in unpacking and straightening up the house.
Thanks, @brucelea – as far as what “Jim is getting up to” on the weekender, one thing that seems to have gotten dropped in the edit is our brief chat on the new Czech and Polish units on the Team Yankee. The link is still in the episode text, so you can still check it out! I remember how your Warsaw Pact forces were coming along. 😀
Another week of amazing prizes!
Anyone else having problems with very low audio?
Morning mate, seems fine for me (I even had to turn it down this morning lol)
It got better when I reloaded it
I was a little bit worried that I’d been hacked and people were stealing my loudness
i had a bug with the audio: it wasn’t in sinc with the lips and kind of made for a hilarious watch!
It’s the Weekend!?!
A weekend to dust down the Dining room table and prepare for a day of proper Boardgames with some proper gamers! But first… The Weekender!
Happy weekend all! Finally made it home okay. Did NOT make it to the bedroom, though, sat down on the couch for a second and woke up six hours later. Now to bed for a second “night’s sleep” of catch-up. Happy Weekend to all!
Happy weekend mate, glad you guys made it back safe and sound!
Glad to hear you and Jen got back safe. Hope you found room for all your new shiny?!
Nice
111 never underestimate the healing seductive powers of sofa!!! Glad you guys made it home safe 😀
Ah, the old couch time machine trap. Chalk up another victim 🙂
Glad you got back okay buddy.
Thanks, @warzan – @brucelea – @irishsteve . Yes, we squeezed all the new shiny into the luggage (as well as the minis and gear we shipped ahead of us for the Boot Camp) … wasn’t easy, but we made it. Everything made it back okay, a LITTLE damage to fix, but nothing irreparable today or tomorrow.
Thanks, @noyjatat – I hope you’re feeling better! 😀
I need those Steins.
Great show again
It was Elba Napoleon was stuck on, he was born on Corsica
Thanks very much, @rasmus – On camera, I knew of course Corsica wasn’t the island where Napoleon was imprisoned (where he was born, in fact, as others on this thread have mentioned). But I ALWAYS get Elba and St. Helena islands mixed up (temporary exile 1814-1815, and permanent exile 1815 forward). So I didn’t want to drop a name and risk being wrong on camera.
@oriskany I understand that 100%
😀
Me too!@oriskany
In the past, @bobcockayne, whenever I meant to say Elba, I say St. Helena, and vice-versa. Just one of those things historically I’ve never been able to get right in a conversation. So I decided to punt.
I sort of punted with those Polish paratroopers (“I don’t want to speak for him, I don’t know what he was going for, but if I saw those on a table and had to guess…”) But oh well.
The Polish paras had a blue/grey beret . Apart from the RAF only the Army Airforce had blue berets. Unless there Free French or something which I
don’t know about.
That’s who I was thinking of @torros, they’d fit really well in an Arnhem campaign.
@brucelea I think @yoshi is from Poland so it would make sense
Thanks very much, @torros and @brucelea. Good call. These get “surprised” on me on camera, I didn’t get a chance to see them beforehand. I could definitely tell they were British-equipped paratroopers (weapons, equipment, uniforms, helmets), but I’ll fully admit the color of the berets threw me for a little loop. British you usually see with red. So I saw these and thought maybe they were from another division, etc.?
But I didn’t think of Polish paras, i.e., Sosabowski’s brigade at Arnhem. Great call, and thanks for the save!
We had the luxury of thinking time and the internet to double check
@oriskany, I only sussed poles as I’d watch ‘Bridge to far’ again day before.
Yeah, what can I say? I had a running order of the show ahead of time, but I was supposed to duck out of the show before Community Spotlight. So I didn’t take a look at these ahead of time. I saw them,. I saw the British helmets, British Sten Guns, British Enfields, British Tunics, British camouflage for British late war Paras … Id didn’t even technically know if those were WW2 minis (were they Dust / Konflikt 47, whatever?) Ben has them as “British” in the intro.
And let’s not f*** about, they are British “Army.” Polish paratroopers in WW2 were part of the British Army, they fought under British command, they trained at British bases, they used British uniforms, weapons, equipment, support assets, funding, you name it.
But of course they were Polish expatriates, and I was foiled by the color of those berets.
Oh well. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
I was going to say the same thing. Since the Polish para used British equipment. They had the bluish berets.
Great show and a nice surprise appearance by the mighty @oriskany. Thanks for the shout-out and plug.
@warzan Elba was the Island Napoleon escaped from, Corsica was the Island that Napoleon was born on so a very close guess. Napoleon then get’s sent to Saint Helena. In my Opinion if Napoleon won Waterloo he loses very quickly thereafter. He massacred the French Army in Russia and had burned through most of the French Conscripts. Everyone had mobilised against him (against him, not France, him personally) and had some pretty strong Veteran Forces to throw against him.
Those are not British Paratroopers or Commando’s, they’re Polish Paratroopers although they did fight in the British Army, wore British Uniform’s and carried British Guns. The Beret’s are different, grey instead of Red and slightly larger. They are incredibly well painted. I’m a huge fan of multi purpose minis and these are great for doing it. Build a lot of guys with helmets and sprinkle in a few Beret’s. Red for British and Grey for Polish that way you have two different forces for the effort of one.
For the Starter Set.
Those guys on the Bottom are indeed Brits. Post 1812 Brits due to their Grey Pants and Shako’s. The Hanoverian’s are the Brits in the Soft Caps, the British King had been Hanoverian since 1745, and fought for the British for close to 15 years during the Napoleonic Wars as a part of the Famous King’s German Legion.
The Artillery are the Royal Artillery in the post 1812 Uniform. It’s a British 6 Pounder Gun (and yes it is a gun) and would be organised into a Battery with Five 6 Pounders and a Howitzer. I could talk for hours about Napoleonic Artillery so I’ll stop here.
The British officer is also in the post 1812 Uniform although for Officer’s Uniform is a loose word. It doesn’t look like the Regiment’s come with any Command Figures although they are available separately.
The French are Generic French and super easy to build, With a head swap they could be Guard or Polish so they’re slightly workable. Technically they’re in Late War Uniform’s but you could use them from 1805 onwards as far as I’m concerned.
The Cavalry are the Chasseurs a Cheval (Hunters on Horse), Light Cavalry. Napoleon’s Green Uniform is actually in homage to the Chasseurs a Cheval and the Guards version of the CaC were his personal escort after a nasty incident with some Austrian Cavalry.
All the infantry in the set are 3 pieces. Head, Backpack and Body. I built 200+ French infantry in a weekend so don’t be too daunted by them like you would a Victrix or Perry Kit. The Hanoverian’s are just British with different heads so counting the spares if you wanted to build them as Brits instead pick up about 10 Spare “Belgic Shako” (Plume on the side or covered NOT Plume in the center those are Stovepipe Shako’s) Heads and you’re good to go.
Rodelero’s are indeed real, they were trained to get into Pike Block’s and cause mayhem. You put them in your Pike Block’s then if you get stuck in melee you unleash them. That is the extent of my knowledge of the Pike and Shotte Period 🙂
I’ve not played a lot of Black Powder (my game of choice is Napoleon at War) but I will be picking it up as inspiration and to have a beautiful book on the shelf.
Apologies for taking up so much of your screen, if you want a brief rundown of the French and how to build them for war-gaming take a look at my Project, there’s also a bit of Period Gossip about a contender for the biggest bridge Burner of all time and some Napoleon at War rules descriptions as well.
https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/elessar2590s-grande-armee-project/
@elessar2590 good little bit of history there, thanks, now i just need to check the plumes on my napoleonic brits to make sure theyre the right ones
Stovepipe Shako’s with a Central Plume are pre-1812. Centre Companies are White over Red, Grenadiers are White and Light are Green.
Belgic Shako’s came in during 1812 but took a while to phase in. If you’re going for British in Spain either is fine.
Thanks, @elessar2590 and @civilcourage – (I really should have mentioned your project as well).

Oriskany you were saying that you would love to see a full scale Waterloo miniature battle well next year at the university of Glasgow they are staging a wargame in 28mm covering the battle of Waterloo, they are trying to set a world record of 20,000 minis on the table and all regiments represented. This is the website with more info http://www.waterlooreplayed.com i wonder if Warren would also be interested.
Also, thanks for the tip on Polish paratroopers. Like I was saying above – These get “surprised” on me on camera, I didn’t get a chance to see them beforehand.
Morning love those neopolionics hi to Warren Justin and james
Hello, @jackie! Glad to see you guys made it home safe! Hopefully your armies did as well! 😀
I have a shrinkwrapped copy of Space Hulk that I’ve been wondering what to do with….thinking caps on!
Nice show as always!
Warhounds – never have enough Warhounds
Nice to see James without the oblong around him.
Morning!
Quavers to all the Bootcamp attendees
Will have to dig out my OLD copy of Space Hulk and see what I can do for the project thread…….wait was going to do a bolt action one and a small paint project tutorial…….so many projects so little time…..John I feel your pain!
Quavers to you to Sir! ?
Oh no! More Quavers! It just won’t die … 🙂
Release the Beer Hounds of War!
What is so exciting about an Empty Beer Stein??? And why would I need a Warhound…???
empty steins demand filling and its not one warhound… its 2!!!!!! 😉
Ok you got me with the Stein, and now I am sold 2 Warhounds my hobby world would be so complete ?
Lol
Never let Warren fill your Stein!
He returns with a lot of head looking like he’s done a marathon, all sweaty and red faced 😀
yes yes warhounds – super amazing giveaways as always 🙂 luv beastofwar
Warhounds Yay 🙂
Tell people what i’m thinking… last time I did that 3 priest an a shrink turned up at my door
Mornigs all, and happy saturday.
Great weekender as always 🙂 That beer stein is just awesome! What a prize. And yay for @oriskany on screen. Always so many cool historical tidbits and information.
Thanks very much, @aurorainbag! 😀
id love to be able to start titanicus with some warhounds
How does tactics compare to the app for IOS? I enjoyed that but not enuf to buy it again on a different system…
Want the Stien…
morning folks,
you missed out the Wraithguard in that Wake the Dead box, the speeech murhines will find then tricky to deal with never mind the falcon 😉
@oriskany Black Powder is played on brigade level, so the foot print of the stands is representative of the unit rather than figures, you can get relatively large games although not as large as you prefer
take it easy, quavers on standby
And good quaver day to you kind Sir, I hope you played nicely and I look forward to the ‘morrow’s XLBS and your regaling us of the fierce battle of Biffin’s Bridge! A difficult battle to negotiate, as whichever way you went you were in a hole. I’m looking forward to it immensely ?
Did you not soften up the target area before going in?. Would have made your big push a lot easier?
?
??
the Bridge battle will have to wait for a week, we got derailed a little this week. Don’t worry it shall be covered in glorious detail
Gentlemen Gentlemen @brucelea @buggeroff @avernos @torros you forget, the ladies are going to be the best ones to give you a detailed battle report on the efficacy of any engagements on Biffin’s Bridge. Any descriptions of heroics must be supported by testimonials 🙂
???
????????????
That’s my girl … 🙂
Thanks for the tip on Black Powder @avernos – for some reason I was imagining WYSIWYG skirmish Napoleonics – I was probably getting it confused with games like Sharpe’s Practice / Muskets & Tomahawks, etc.
And the “Level 2” Command Tactical type of game you’re talking about is EXACTLY my preferred game. Bigger than WYSIWYG 1:1 tactical (Level 1) and smaller than true operational campaign wargaming (Level 3).
Damn, now I’m going to have to look more into the Black Powder system … 😀 For American Revolution we’ve been using (very successfully) a slightly tweaked variant of TSR’s 1989 Battlesystem … but even there (1:10 Command Tactical) you start to run out of room for larger American Revolution battles (but perfect for battles like Hubbardton, Bennington, and Oriskany). So Black Powder might be next on the list, especially since I already have the armies built. 😀
the nice thing about BP is that it gives suggested basing, but as long as both forces are using consistent basing throughout then whatever you have will work.
Variable scaling? Nice.
Wish you guys gave away a Black Powder starter bundle instead of Warhounds, but free plastic crack is free plastic crack, and the warhounds are kind of cute 😉 (and at least it’s not SMurfs again… still waiting for ge-dubs latest starter set: SMurfs vs SMurfs – totally two different armies… and yes, Justin, Primaris is still the standard SMurfs gee-dubs has “done” since forever)
They look like Polish Paratroopers. Same equipment as the British but different colour and style beret.
Thanks, @dragon – Like I was saying above – These get “surprised” on me on camera, I didn’t get a chance to see them beforehand.
No worries mate nothing worse than being put on the spot.
Great show look forward the Sunday. Have a good one ?
Nothing like a good weekender chilling in the bath. Great content again lads.
Can’t wait to see the War Doggies.
Is the podcast on iTunes yet? I could find previous 4 weeks but not the latest Ep244 . Will try again in the morning as I have a big drive ahead of me and it would be just the thing
When I saw Space Hulk tactics, I just thought of I used to drink my game beers slower and see if I could goad my opponent into letting slip how many command points he had.
Now I play more sportingly (and don’t have anything like that self-control around beer).
lol
Just started watching and heard winning warhounds and now I have to wait until the end of the show. This will be hard.
Stein looks good. Any excuse for more beer
Weren’t the Hanoverians the ones who made Scooby-Doo and Yogi Bear?
If you’ve kept Orskiny trapped in the studio all week I finally undertsand why he’s been so prolific in responding to every single post from the boot camp weekend. The question now is, is there a hodden message in his posts asking us to come help him escape Camp BoW?
We might have to get him a Motorcycle and a clear run to the Swiss Border 🙂
LOL @lawnor – yes. If you take the fifth letter in every post, you’ll find it reads:
“H-E-L-P-T-H-E-Y-W-O-N-T-L-E-T-M-E-L-E-A-V-E-S-E-N-D-H-E-L-P-C-A-L-L-P-O-L-I-C-E … 😀
I’m calling them now. They’ll be there soon. Don’t you worry.
😀 No worries. I managed to smuggle a plastic spoon out of the kitchen and dig a tunnel. 😀
So when they let you out for walks theres a trail of dirt coming out of your trouser legs. BoW being BoW, when anyone sees it they don’t get suspicious, they just think, “Oh! Terrain and basing materials!”.
It wasn’t the Hanoverians. You may be thinking of the Hannau Barbarians. They also did the cultural thinkpiece, Hong Kong Fooey.
Hi
From the Perry Miniatures Facebook page a few weeks ago, talking about wargaming Waterloo on a grand scale
The Great Game: Waterloo Replayed
This is a one-off event in June 2019, which will set a world record for the largest ever historical wargame in 28mm
The event will be a replay of the Battle of Waterloo, fought on 18 June 1815. It will be held at the University of Glasgow over the weekend of 15 and 16 June, 2019, in the Kelvin Gallery. This is an impressive Victorian galleried hall in the Gilbert Scott Building, the striking main building of the University which sits on the summit of Gilmorehill.
The wargame is being staged in support of Waterloo Uncovered, a charity that combines a world-class archaeology project on
the battlefield of Waterloo with a support programme for veterans and the military community. Working in partnership with some of Europe’s top universities, and through the unique perspective of a team comprised of archaeologists, veterans, and serving soldiers, Waterloo Uncovered aims to understand war and its impact on people — and to educate the public about it.
Tony Pollard the archeologist from two men in a trench has been on the 6mm Facebook pages showing off his figures for this
Happy Saturday folks. Little bit of Space Hulk? Yes please@!!!! The very game that got me into the hobby – waaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when with 1st ed. Warhounds…….dammit……. reminds n guilts me about my still unbuilt adn painted Forgeworld warhound that i keep…..’meaning’ to get started on 😛
At least that makes me feel slightly better about my stash of unbuilt Forgeworld stuff! @irishsteve
lol. Ooohhhhhhh I’ve plenty more!!! And now a DAK army aS well!!!!
not painted yet, slacker
Thanks @warzan, @dignity, @brennon for liking my project and I am planning to add more reports when I play them. Also add units and characters histories too as so gear up are a Blood and Plunder campaign
Great stuff – looking forward to seeing more of your work @panzerkaput!
Copypasta from youtube: not a fan of the bolt action challenge still running. it was announced as a “during the weekend event” and now more and more ppl just post up finished armies (some obviously preexisting on their shelves). it also takes away a bit of the achievement of ppl who actually did partake in the crazyness of that weekend from home by watching your vods and doing a project. Furthermore if you would have announced a two week challenge it would have been possible to order new bolt action stuff (as a result of getting drawn to it by said weekend) and do it during the week. Just going “and another week” robs ppl of that possibility and reduces the achievment of the weekend participation.
Overall your way of announcing winners is also kinda meh. Please set up a site on your website to check more easily. even if you watch all your content its still not easy to keep up with you guys on the sheer amount of things you are giving away.
@rot6 you’ll be pleased to know the team started work on a centralised place for announcing winners etc last week. It’s not ready yet hence the short extension for those folks working on some bolt action goodness. 🙂
Does that include GenCon winners? Unless they’ve already been announced and I’ve missed them?
Yes Gen con and all contests will be listed in there 🙂
Excellent.
@warzan good to know because that bolt action challenge was a mess and you have a big stash of presents atm ;).
On the mess of the challenge:
charlie and john said several times over the weekend they would judge things at the end of it and post a vod > when that didnt happen the weekend got wraped up and one video contained a short notice by john that the weekender would be the place to be > tuesday or something a video contained “you can still get into the bolt action contest for projects” (first +1 to running time) > weekender today: +1 week for the project contest… oh and you can still comment on the blogs for entry ?!?
Please sort such things out before hand. then stick to your word. another thing was that the orginal post for the blog entries was unclear whether you had to comment on EVERY blog entry or just some or just the general.
Like i said, this is challenge is a mess. I would have loved to participate with some actual 28mm minis and could have ordered some at that weekend to arrive fast enough for a friday late night finish coming week. i was robbed of this chance and now have to trust in amara (which i will further polish)… or could i enter my ongoing 1:72 scale armys into the contest? We are using them for both chain of command and bolt action (and plan on “i aint been shot mum” for !big! ones), but seeing everybody else went 28mm it felt kinda wrong.
Stay tuned we’ll be caught up next week with a shiney new prize centre 🙂
Black powder set looks good, just 25mm too big 🙂
Hmm… “Space Hulk” you say? Played a good few games of that with my son who loved being the ‘nids, but never got around to painting it up. Now could be the time, and with all the lovely mdf terrain options out there nowadays, the 2D factor may be getting ramped up….*cogs whirr*
There was an epic recreation of Waterloo in 28mm at Salute 2013 by Robert Browning and Ron Ringrose, got a few pictures here: https://thelostandthedamned.wordpress.com/2013/04/22/salute-2013-napoleonic-acw-mexican-american-wars/
Your going to have to let us all know the outcome of the kill team match now. Looking forward to see what projects people come up with for space hulk, and I might even have a go if I can think of anything.
Happy Weekend 🙂
Morning! Great show as always
You forgot the pop filters for the mics :/
Different mics mate these are phantom powered shotguns set further back than the dynamic mics.
Did you get much pop?
They are better than the other ones w/o pop filters, but personally I found the sound nicer on the other ones with the filters. It’s probably a pet peeve of mine by now ^^
That Waterloo set looks amazing…It’s also good to see an in-person visit by @oriskany
Thanks very much, @ghastly13
Good morning, great show!
Happy weekend all! Watched this while doing some hobby work, good show as always. I’m not big in to the historical side of things but man when @oriskany talks I listen… Always very knowledgeable and interesting!
That new 40k set has me interested for some reason… maybe more Eldar to add to the force @warzan 😀
See you all tomorrow!
Awesome, thanks very much @milmaa! 😀 😀 😀
Nice prizes. Doggies and drinks!
Spacehulk: exterminates from a distance, it’s the only smart choice
MUST HAVE WARHOUNDS
Why stick with Ben, Justin and Warren. I would like to see the complete BOW gang as goblins.
@warzan, it is very easy to explain how an orc on a boar got in your dungeon with magic (summoned, portal).
Happy Saturday!
Warhounds and Beer you say?
Oh go on then! 🙂
Great show guys, good to see Jim there always interesting comments. I,d go with polish paras as well.
Thanks very much, @doomdark – great call on the Polish paras – I could see all the British equipment but the blue berets threw me for a loop there.
omg warhounds awesome stuff
If I was a Frenchman invading Belgium I’d want a great coat. It did rain a lot
Happy Weekend friends : D
So happy to have been mentioned with my minis.
They actually portrait the “Polish 1st Independent Parachute Brigade” that fought alongside the British and Americans at the Market Garden Campaign.
Excellent work on those paras, @yoshi – 100 apologies that I misidentified them. Like I was saying above – I could see all the British equipment but the blue berets threw me for a loop there. I didn’t think of Polish paras, i.e., Sosabowski’s brigade at Arnhem. Great work, and thanks for the save!
Good morning from the Midwest!
I really want those Warhounds. They were some of the first images I ever saw that got me into the world of 40K.
Also a heads up for Warren. In your “Warren meets Matt” piece you mention about having a industrial style train. I saw a trailer for a new series that started on channel 5 last night “The Great Model Railway Challenge”, I swear I saw that someone has built a full on, working train setup based on a 40K battle. I definitely saw some Ultra-Smurfs and Nids!
Why do Warhound Titans walk funny?
Because the crew are all drunk due to their issue steins!
Of course Orcs would have a boar in a dungeon what else is there to wipe you arse on? Oh and he’s not riding it he’s flossing, it was a bit of a messy one.
When you come online to watch XLBS, and you get that feeling of dread and disappointment that it isn’t there… Then you realise it’s only Saturday and you haven’t even watched the weekender yet! Winner??
Good show guys. Ironwinds is just north of Cincinnati OH by the way.
I love all the contests and various ways you guys engage the community! Keep it up!
What! No pretzels? ! Space Hulk is a great beer (stein) and pretzel game, especially since it is the perfect gateway to the 40k universe, and a collection of millions of genestealers or everyone.
Just doubling my chances to win the Warstein…Or was it Beerhound?…Aaah whatever, I needs its!
I would like to win!
@warzan if you come round to mine with steins and beer, you’ll be washing it down with home cooked traditional chinese food, which is way tastier than take away….
Morning?
Another fantastic weekender and those were Polish Para’s seen in the Marketgarden ect. Those are some awesome looking Warhound titans for the game.
I really love those warhounds
Space Hulk…… Another Space Hulk video game……. Did you say Deathwing? I do still have the Deathwing terminators from the Dark Vengeance starter set unpainted. So thanks @warzan for bringing me the idea of doing a Deathwing group for the Space Hulk competition.
Happy to hear that the opinion I gave on the last competition is being listened to.
If I win some warhound I am going to paint one pink and with a lot of other bright colours to just to annoy John.
warhounds yes please ive two boxes on preorder and have too many basing ideas to mention the kits look awesome. Plus a nice posh stein would make drinking rum much easier not that its a problem now hic!
Somebody with puppet making skills should make a genestealer muppet.
Iron Wind Metals, I believe, is in Ohio. There is a youtube channel called Miniatures Assembled with a video tour of their shop.
Never played Warhammer before…but man do those Warhound Titans look awesome! And those steins are KILLER! I need those in my life!
I really like that Waterloo set, but I have too much other stuff to play and paint, I would never get to it.
Now that the Warhounds are out, I’m really curious when the extra weapon sprues will be out and when we’ll see the first campaign/Legion books.
Ahhhh, i can’t take it, i need to take off this week, bunker down in my cave and try to keep up with this awesomeness.. thanks guys, this all sounds fun.
Good morning all, This episode this have been titled Goreshade does Porky! XXX
Great show and another amazing prize. Warhounds are the absolute coolest thing in 40K.
Great show guys, going to have about space hulk hmm
ooooh mayne i’ll get round to finishing my Space Hulk minis now…. only had them half painted for about 5 or 6 years
Warhound and Steins…. want! 😉
The beer steins would make a good tea mugs
Nice episode.
I’m personally not a fan of 28mm in Napoleonic Wars setting. I find smaller scales much more fitting here. Gods of War seires have nice rules for that period in GoW: Napoleon (and very nice GoW: Lee for US civil war). Maybe if it was more oriented on light infrantry skirmishes like Green Jackets it would be more fitting.
BTW: It was Elba where Coalition put Napoleon after his first failure.
Those steins look awesome.
Another great Saturday weekender. Always love the discussions. Warren, I do the same thing at home when Justin uses his ‘announcer’ voice ;D
Well Warhounds,Space Hulk, Blood Angels and Beer !!!!! – I think I just hit my hobby utopia 🙂 – I am not sure if it would be eligible (Please let me know @beastsofwar @warzan but I did a hobby project sometime back on Space Hulk. Here – https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1231886/ I have just started an AoS one but there has been a plan to go back and do some tidy up and finishings on the Space Hulk project so I would be keen to know if that counts !!!
As for Warhounds – The name I took online in my teens when doing Amiga demos and the likes after falling in love with those awesome machines. Never owned one, – The 67 got added when I found everytime I signed on to a bloody online game someone had taken my “handle” – Oh how the numbers on the interwebs exploded from those early Amiga / Bulletin Board System based MUDS days. I will paint a WarHound one of these days and number it 67 somewhere 🙂
Cheers for a great weekender .. The recent changes you have made to the show and especially the format of backstage have drawn me back in to my religious watching while painting sessions 🙂
Cheers

A hulking good show Guy’s its unusual to see @oriskany speechless, on the new 40K set’s an @warzan going 3X with the orks it’s usually the XL show he gos off script with this.
Are you implying I talk too much? 😀 😀 😀
Lol no its just that you yousualy have a piece of rare info on the subject their talking about.
😀
Fun as always!
Happy weekend!
Nice to see @oriskany on the show! Because of a heavy work week, i still have to catch up to most of the boot camp, but i will!
See you on XLBS!
Thanks, @duster!
Well was cleaning out the garage today. Didn’t get to this until late today. But still a great show.
Warhound Titans? Hmmmm! I have actually been looking at getting some of the terrain that GW is selling just because i’d like to start an epic Army. Like the idea of large scale 40K battles with small easy to paint minis!
Never been a fan of titans at the larger scale but at the smaller scale I could see them working well on a board game!
Thanks again for a great show guys!
Forgot to mention. If they had a Black Templar Stein, now that would be cool indeed!
The Warhounds and beer steins does sound like an awesome combo, love it.
Must admit the more I see on blackpowder the more I am tempted. The number of models is currently offputting, maybe next year.
Cry BEER! And let slip the hounds of war!
Apologies to Shakespeare…
I’m sure he’s used to being butchered much worse than that. 😀
Wow, these prizes are getting crazier and crazier! Been in for the long haul as a backstager and I’m loving the stuff your doing now guys! Now to watch the rest of the show….
Happy Saturday and for Space Hulk I have always wanted to do a floor plan with single and double wide halls and rooms. Time to pull out the graph or dot paper and get to designing the plans for the floor just need to figure out how big to make it?
Hmmm… maybe that will work?
These steins look fantastic would love to get one.
Dark Angels Deathwing and Titanicus Warhound Scout Titans – both just so awesome!
Those Warhounds. Wow. Like really WOW. See the way Warren behaves when he meets the mat? Thats exactly the effect that meeting one of those warhounds would have on me.
And throw one of those GameEU mats into the mix as well. Well…what a threesome that would be!
Not only will I drink beer from said steins while building the warhounds, I will pay Warren to fly out and join me during this ridiculous endeavor. Or at the very least offer to house him for free.
Those look like Polish Paratroopers to me.
Y’all… I’m going to need that beer stein. Good luck to everyone, but I would like that stein – to be mine.
Great show, the Warhounds would be a great way to start me on *another* army. Not sure I’ll be able to get a space hulk project going – still busy thinking about getting my Bolt Action armies going again after last week’s boot camp!
Love the Space Hulk challenge! It’s about time I built and painted these Wild Walls Alien Habitats that I’ve had sitting around since … 1993.
Knew so many people with Space Hulk back in day that my copy has been sitting araound half assembled and half painted for a couple of decades now. Finally! An excuse to pull it out and see what can be done.
Oh those Warhounds are magnificent!
Great see Jim on the weekender!
Happy Sunday… oh one day late.
Thems some great prizes
The warhounds look ace! I will grab a couple to paint up one day…
And stein?! I’d love one. And beer… Mmmm… Beer…
As I’ve fallen out of love with 40k I’m not going to comment on this thread, wouldn’t want to win this one would I!!
Can I have a stankard instead of a stein?
Another great show. Love the part with the grey Panther. I think I will quote my favorite Italian from ‘Allo ‘Allo and say “What a mistake-a to make-a!” 🙂
I love the Steins!!!! So awesome!!!
That Monochrome Army idea sounds great. Would love to see that. I always fancied to paint a 6mm modern Russian Afgansky Army. All Hinds Transports and Gunships and of course kick ass infantry. But the kicker is, that these guys were (or still are) trained to make night assaults. So the entire army would have black bases, with black grass on it and everything else would be in shades of neon green. Like when you see something through early nightvision googles. Never got around doing that… yet 😀
Great show gents. Spacehulk was my first love from GW. Had loads of the 1st edition until I sold it all. got 2nd ed. but haven’t even painted it. So maybe I could make that a project in the future. But again how to get the time?? I also need to paint up my new and shining Warlord :)=
Warhounds look great, but the STEIN! Also, Iron Wind is the old Ral Partha in Ohio. Those British Paras look excellent – and I love the “Bonner Style” nose on the figure, but that bedroll looks great!
Kill Team!
Just got the Adeptus Titanic set so some warhounds would be perfect. And of course a stein to use while playing 🙂
Mmmm beer.
Awesome prize!! I want that 😉
Love me some space hulk. Converted all my Hulk termies into space wolves, 🙂 Just gotta paint them… and 87 other projects….
Dungeon taxi service, that’s why you’d ride a boar in a dungeon.
Nice show even with the interesting comment from Warren. How can you have clip from a show that is not filmed yet?
Can you post a time code to this as im confused lol
Innuendo to the extreme, all fun though.
I’ve been avoiding the painting of my Space Hulk set, you guys have inspired me!
Sadly I still haven’t played a real game of Space Hulk. Maybe one day I’ll fill in the void in my heart. Loved the show-thanks!
great show guys!!! great prize as always!! have a great week
Happy Monday!
Great show. Space hulk has always been one of my favourite games. But tyranid attack was the game that started this hobby for me.
shame the historical editor failed to notice the bolt action para’s were Polish Para’s https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1st_Independent_Parachute_Brigade_(Poland), Gene Hackman played General Sasobowski in a Bridge too Far
Happens to the best. The million other things he notices makes up the difference every time 🙂
Thanks very much, @armholeeio.
Great show! Loving how Justin looks a bit lots behind the esteemed historical editor as he goes through the Napolenics 🙂 Lots of love for you guys.
Kind of how I look when the Gus start talking about 40K, I’m sure. 🙂
good morning guys, waterloo 2 player set looks cool.
You guys are keeping busy. Nice to have Oriskany on the show. A lot better sound quality then when you have a long-distance chat.
Thanks. I agree the sound quality is less frustrating and of course no internet issues when you’re sitting in there in the chair.
@oriskany not that I’m an expert on Napoleonic period, think they did on occasion brigade light companies into units, but not so sure about Grenadiers. I know the 60th Rifles were broken up into companies and spread out to give rifle to divisions. Though it was a lot less used as they had converted many Regts to light infantry, and had the light Division, based on experiences from Warcof Indépendance.Apologies if preschingvto converted.
I would take your word for it, @bobcockayne. I know this was common practice during the American Revolution, but Napeoleonics are 40 years later on another continent, so things can change. I honestly don’t know.
@oriskany For a period that you only have a passing knowledge , I thought you did really well, way better than I would do on the ACW, I have a reasonable knowledge of the naval side of ACW having played a lot of Ironclads, but not a lot on the land side.
On a sightly different tack did like how you managed to get Battletech in coversation.
war hounds look so small
Warhounds you say? …..Nice!
Holy…those Hounds look amazing. Won’t lie, those Steins are gorgeous too. If I win them, I pledge to let Warren not only pick the first drink that goes into the stein, but he gets to pick the Warhounds’ color schemes.
I hope it’s a six pack of coke, ‘cause I don’t drink beer. ?
Oldhammer minis + new paint techniques always look good. Old minis look way better with new paint than they do in old photos with old paint jobs. Same thing with basing; give an oldhammer mini a new style base and it looks so much better than classic flock+goblin green.
I think the paras could be Polish based on the blue beret? My only reference are the old war films “Bridge to Far” and “The Eagle Has Landed”, so must be accurate.
Thanks, @battlehawk = I could definitely tell they were British-equipped paratroopers (weapons, equipment, uniforms, helmets), but I’ll fully admit the color of the berets threw me for a little loop. British you usually see with red. So I saw these and thought maybe they were from another division, etc.?
But I didn’t think of Polish paras, i.e., Sosabowski’s brigade at Arnhem. Great call, and thanks for the save!
So, I’ll have to dig up my old box of Space Hulk from the nineties and finally paint those minis.
Stein stein stein stein …. yes please !
Does Tuesday still count as the weekend when you have a week off?
Good afternoon
Man, Adeptus Titanicus is seriously tempting. Those minis are gorgeous!
Those steins are lovely!
I have to say the Space Hulk challenge sounds like there are a lot of people that like Beast of War willing to give you guys great stuff to give away. And those Warhounds look great. Makes me wonder where they where they are going to take the style of model design of Core, Armor, and Weapons sprue process.
Get your ass to Prince August in the south of Ireland for a waterloo table.

I sooo need to quaff to the Emperor 🙂
napoleon was first exiled to elba hence the rxpresion being given the elba
french infantry woujd wear their graet coats on campiagn tokeep their uniform clean.in 1814 the greatcoat was about all the uniform conscripts received.
aaah … Warhounds… best looking titans ever for me..
Orc boar rider pizza deliver service for the win.
For blood and pounder, are there rules for the ships?
Stein with beer is that what I want after a long week on friday evening 🙂
Thanks for the contest!
I think it’s a good idea to have a judge-picked prize for the challenge.
It is cool to be able to use the projects system and the voting buttons to highlight great entries, but I think it probably makes it harder for those with smaller and/or later-starting projects to compete, and there is the chance that fantastic entries get missed.
Having a judged prize allows you to make sure that nothing awesome gets overlooked.
