New Star Wars Miniatures Game! Shatterpoint; Is The Force With These Big New Minis? #OTTWeekender
November 11, 2022 by brennon
It's OTT Weekender time! A new Star Wars miniatures game has been revealed! Star Wars: Shatterpoint is coming from the folks at Atomic Mass Games in 2023 and features small-scale squad-based games between (for now) characters from the Clone Wars like Anakin, Assaj, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Dooku, Maul and more.
The miniatures were previewed in a new trailer this week showcasing the range of characters on offer, their followers (Droids, Clone Troopers and Padawan) alongside some terrain. We discuss what we think of Shatterpoint and if The Force is with Atomic Mass Games and their new game with those big new minis!

I think you mean AT-ST not AT-AT.
That’s the one! 😛
Nice to see Battlescale get a mention
AMG got me by loading up on Mando’s from the off. Republic Commandos just sweeten the deal…
The weekend starts now!
Paint some more miniatures while watching the weekender.
Now painting 9 mortar teams to shell my brothers squats. 🙂
The Star Wars game looks interesting to me. They have not quite got me into legion, but this looks pretty interesting to me.
I’m very here for the Dunkeldorf minis.
Weekender time, quiet now, I’m watching
Its WWWWwwweekender time
Ooh the battle scale terrain looks brilliant.
Good evening all. Last again. I know my place. Dunkeldorf is a must. Fantastic miniatures and if the current KS goes as well as the last ones then any backers will be so pleased and satisfied with their investment and with following a KS with great comms and generous stretch goals and add-ons. A definite for any Warhammer Fantasy Roleplayers or those longing for the Oldhammer nostalgic vibe. ?
Great show. Badger King Ben bosses it in this fun tutorial ably supported by his three amigos. Professor Gerry has mentored his padowan well me thinks…
Undaunted week is looking interesting. Know nothing of it, but I’m really liking these week long videos etc. Always very interesting.
Shatterpoint terrain is not scratch-built as they said in the announcement (you should go and watch on AMGs youtube channel) that the terrain is in the core set box.
lovin the new Guard figures/weapons.
The cover is just Maul, the Mandalorian Super Commandos and Gar Saxon and the other side are Ashoka, The Night Owls/Loyalists and Bo-Katan Kryse. The centre of the box is Anakin and Asajj Ventress.
ultimate Mothman ?
Yay release the donkeys.?
fab show Guy’s.
It bugs me to no end that every stat wars game in the last 15 years uses a different scale. I know they do it to guarantee sales but it still annoys me.
I bought everything for Imperial Assault… so it is frustrating.
Only reason I picked up Legion Core Set was it was a great deal at the amazon on a black friday at £46.39 and I was prepping a Star Wars RPG campaign.
I will buy Shatterpoint if there are enough minis in the starter and it looks a good game… but if the expansions are priced like Marvel Crisis that will be my limit.
I would hope that expansions would be in the form of teams… a leader and some troops to support.
Exactly that. I have plenty of other games in the queue, so I’ll just buy some baby yoda action figures, thanks. 😀
Undaunted is an amazing game!
Gorgeous weeekender as always!
But I have to say I disagree with Justin’s statement about Shatterpoint feeling more Star wars…
In the movies and other Star Wars media the story does revolve around a handful of heroes fighting for freedom, but the trope of the rebel army against the imperial power is very powerful and intrinsic. The fighting is most of the times conducting and surrounding the heroes and villains, when not is simply the center of the action. The huge vehicles, the massively large spaceships, the gargantuan weapons of destruction capable of wiping out a planet with a single shot… the X-wings, the TIE-Fighters, the battle of Hoth, specially the battle of Scariff with just a handful of semi-unknown characters… that is ALSO star wars, not just the fight of skywalkers. The strong point of Star Wars is that it is able to go from big to small in half a second, from the Battle of Endor, where hundreds of soldiers defend a bunker, to the little Ewok who dies on a small corner of the galaxy. But if we only keep the Skywalker part, the four known Jedi, the five same clones… we are giving up all the real wealth of Star Wars.
when you see the lord of the rings you have two main focuses… of course you are talking about Frodo Baggins (or Bilbo) and his travel, but you ALSO got another main character… middle earth and the battles that are fought there! And it is a very BIG character. You speak about Samwise Gamgee but you also see the charge of the Rohirrim or the siege of Minas Tirith, and so the GW Battle miniatures system allows you to go from a small scope, when you play a very thematic game with just 4 hobbits defending weathertop from five nazgul, to the Great Battle of Our Time 😉 Same happens with Star Wars, but instead of just giving rules that allow you to customize battles WITH THE SAME MINIS, AMG is changing the size of the minis everytime they switch to another scope.
In my opinion, having a game that reduces Star wars to skirmish confrontations between a small group of heroes and a group of Vilains is completely out of the scope of the grandeur of Star Wars. You can make it with marvel super heroes, as they USUALLY fight in small groups and don’t have the backup of an army, but in Star Wars most of the battles, even the battles fought between small groups of heroes (two jedis against one sith, father against son, padme and a group of naboo soldiers against some droids) have most of the time the background of a bigger army and a bigger battle. Star Wars would not be Star wars without battle for Scariff, battle for Endor, assault on Hoth, battle of Yavin, battle for Geonosis, battle for Naboo, battle for Coruscant, battle for Kashyyyk, battle of Crait, battle of Takodana… and of course dozens of battles from the expanded universe… That’s why I think Legion did a better job reflecting this… there were heroes and villains, but there were armies around them.
Happy Cadia week everyone!
Shatterpoint looks interesting, but will it be sufficiently different to MCP? I also have the ongoing fear that the license will get taken away. It’s happened before and will happen again. It’s not such an issue in board games as they’re self contained, but a living game like a wargame? Thats a huge problem.
Wondering how many players with an existing collection of the 32mm figures will be just buying the starter set for the rules (and then selling the larger figures on eBay)?
*ping*
Ok, I had to do a longer write up on my thoughts on SW:P and dumped it in the forums.

Now I will watch the Weekender to see what “The Crew” thinks.
Shatter Point looks soooo good. I am deep in Marve Crisis Protocol at the mo so I hope its similar.
Thanks for the show. I may not buy the battle force, but I am sure some of these new sets will make it into my AM/IG army.
Really excited for Shatterpoint! Have a fantastic weekend, folks.
Have a great weekender
“Zwillingsnebelwerfer” @johnlyons “Twin” 😉
Doppelnebelwerfer. Stupid word. 8)
In my defense. When I hear “Zwilling” my head goes -ah yes, the HE111 Glider tug for the Gargant.
From what WGA have said the plan to offer 3d printed items as well as files, either direct or via partnerships for those who don’t print themselves
My only worry about the new guard, is that they’ll be just bigger then the old guard, and it will be to obvious! But their amazing. Can’t wait to get some. Great show guys!
I have the feeling that Legion is going the way of the Dodo now that Shatterpoint is coming, why do and support 2 SW mini games instead one that they have developed themselves. With all the stock issues for legion it has never got the taction it should of had, and never got the player bases and I am seriously thinking of getting rid of my collection as no way played it.
Thanks there AMG
looking forward to the undaunted content
Now i do like the look of the Guard now?? Oh so sorry, watching late gentlemen at 20.30 pm on a Sunday night, so i am enjoying my ulster fry could not be bothered with a Sunday dinner and now just about to watch the Sunday show…so HAPPY SUNDAY….OH DAMN wrong comment box so will catch you the Sunday box…..
Looking forward to Undaunted week.
One of the problems that I see with Star Wars tabletop games is that there are so many of them:
AMG –
X-Wing
Armada
Legion
+ Shatterpoint when it arrives
FFG –
Imperial Assault – the one mini game that didn’t make the transition to AMG
Outer Rim
Rebellion
+ The Deckbuilding Game – when it arrives
The RPGs – a whatever Asmodee studio they went to
Then the games that FFG have let go
Destiny – the dice game
The Card Game – that’s the LCG
and Empire vs Rebellion
Oh and the new The Clone Wars A Pandemic System Game from Z-Man Games studio.
So Asmodee, and prior to it FFG, have hit the Star Wars loving hobbyists quite hard and frequently over the years. In fact the LCG was released 10 years ago this December 20th.
Its a shame they seem to be going for a different scale for the starwars game. Like when FF initially released legions was a shame that it was a different scale to Imperial Assualt which would have provided some intersteing one peice character models that could have been utilised.
Still, as long as I eventually see some Sandpeople/Tusken Raiders in legion I will be content.
John says he’s only going to buy two of the Cadia Stands army box sets?
….or rather that’s what he’s going to admit to 😀
As a side note. I know the “old” Cadia infantry box set was updated with an extra heads sprue (to add a bit of variety to your squads). Do we know yet if the new infantry boxes will be shipping with this sprue (seems a bit daft if it’s going to disappear as it only came out less than a year ago)?
Not sure about shatterpoint, if the rules are downloadable then I might try it with legion miniatures
if it’s Marvel Crisis as I think it’s going to be the rules will probably be downloadable, but all the stat cards come with the models and then it uses bespoke dice and measuring sticks which are all different sizes for movement and combat
Happy bump day!
What i find interesting in SW Shatterpoint, is the fact that we see more jedis! I love Legion but, i find we’re missing the other jedis… I’ll be checking this one out but, if the price goes up, not sure… i gave up on MCP because of the price, as for Legion, the price point is OK, except for the big kits like the crashed XWing coming up!
Fun stuff coming up from Wargames Atlantic! I don’t own a printer but, they mention that some of it is going to come out in plastics for those who don’t print…
Thanks for the show!
Cannot wait for Shatterpoint!!!
