Ba$tard$! (as heard on that Sharpe show)
I’m curious more about the Sharpe game than the miniature. Light troops have fascinated me in particular in the Napoleonic Wars. Mark Urban wrote a great book about the rifle regiments in the Peninsula. Rebels and Patriots is my preferred rules but I would certainly be open to something more dedicated to Napoleonic than generic black powder skirmishing designed for wars in North America.
I think Osprey’s Chosen Men rules from their “blue book” range might suit your needs in that case…..
I had looked at Chosen Men but wasn’t a fan after reading it. A little 40k for me. I would love a narrative driven skirmish game with very small units or individual miniatures acting. That would feel more like Sharpe to me
Now someone releases a Sean Bean model, well at least he’s not an orc.
Also enough of the bad Yorkshire accents…
It’s revenge for Paddy Mayne’s accent
🤣
To be fair you are better than most of the Game of Thrones cast
New miniatures range and game…now that’s hobbying.
😁
You’ve missed the best Robin Hood documentaries: Maid Marian and her Merry Men, and Men in Tights. Sheesh.
well we figured most people would know the popular ones like those, the less well known things like prince of thieves probably needed the exposure more
You’re such Robin Hood hipsters.
Couple of things about tonights show.
Firstly… Sharpe… I’m aware of the show. Never seen it. Not read the books.
Secondly… the anthropomorphic animals were nice… but all I could see was stretch goal was spelt as ‘strectch’…
The Sharpe’s Rifles game looks like a great introduction to get people into Historical Wargaming. Have a great weekend!
Happy weekender time folk’s 👍✨
Yea old machete
Sharpe, Kings of War and Burrows and Badgers proxy minis. Awesome.
Wasn’t he a doctor in ER ?
Casualty
he was a casualty in ER?
So the British army is like the spacemarines some units in the old kits ?
I think most militaries are
Good one guy’s 👍
Nice one 🙂
I love the gooskenecht’s gorget. I suppose that it is a big target on a goose.
I wonder if and how Peachy will include the 54mm Sharp in his games.
use it as a giant?
That Rooster should be resculpted as a bard with his loot, but I guess that’s not happening. Not in Nottingham.
The new incoming Sharpe skirmish game – another expense I’m going to have to justify to the wife in some way. So far this year I’ve had to use repair the lawnmower, paint for the kitchen and I need to buy a new chainsaw. Sooner or later she’ll see through my cunning deceptions…
I do want the Sharps Troops……..but at 25 ‘greenbacks’ per box with only two figures inside…thats a hard sell…..the 54mm is nice but geez……. Oh well, I’ll still probably maybe buy them. I do want the rules set! Wargames Atlantic do pretty good stuff. No need to buy multiple boxes with this one though, so no discount for multi-purchase. Is my ‘grognard’ showing? 🥴👌
Sharpe.
Someone’s gonna be excited
‘Men in Tights’ will always be my favourite Robin Hood movie. The attention to historical detail just blew my mind.
The 1922 Robin Hood with Douglas Fairbanks is also an interesting watch.
Shallow Marches has some really cute minis.
Lovely stuff as always guys. Happy Weekend everybody!
I’m never going into a swamp unarmed again. 🙃
As a youngster I visited a castle used in the filming of the then recent Robin Hood movie! We were very confused to discover that there had been two films and that explained why we didn’t recognise anything from Prince of Thieves. They still had wooden shacks below the walls that were left over bits of set. Don’t think I ever got around to watching this version!
