Empress Miniatures has been showing off a bunch of new Historical releases that cover a variety of time periods and conflicts. The first of these new releases is for a bit of Jazz Age Imperialism and features a fellow keeping his gun going.

Highland Vickers Team - Empress Miniatures

Highland Vickers Team // Empress Miniatures

Yes, that is a Highlander refilling a condenser tin so that they can cool down their Vickers Machine Gun. It was pretty hard to get your hands on water when in the midst of a firefight so you'd often find soldiers having a little wee in order to keep their weapons cool. According to Empress, there were cases of the tins being filled from latrines during World War I and all sorts of other methods.

I would have to salute the chap who stood up and decided to have a pee when the fighting was going on so that his buddies could keep their machine gun cool. I think I'd get stage fright.

Indian Mutiny

The next of the miniature sets that have been released by Empress takes us to the period of the Indian Mutiny. This is a new set of Indian Riflemen for you to throw into your games.

Armed with their Brunswick Rifles, these soldiers were apparently trained in light infantry tactics and sniping from afar. Some handy skirmishers for you to consider dropping into the mix. According to Empress, they would have fought on both sides of the mutiny so you can do with them as you will. Use them with the British or the Mutineers!

World War I British Guns

Finishing things off, we also have some new World War I guns alongside the horses to pull them into the heart of the action. Royal Horse Artillery releases are the name of the game and we start with the Full Monty!

RHA 13pdr & Limber Team - Empress Miniatures

RHA 13pdr & Limber Team // Empress Miniatures

This is a full-on limber team complete with riders, guns and all sorts. I really like the look of this as the soldiers are thundering forward atop their horses with real purpose. You could imagine them clattering through the mud with the aim of getting to the front to support their fellow soldiers.

You can also get your hands on separate gun teams including the likes of the 13pdr here. There are plenty more elements for you to pick up as well if World War I British is your style.

RHA 13pdr & Gun Crew - Empress Miniatures

With such an extensive range of releases for their World War I Brits, you could pretty much pack out an entire army with their metal range. Or, you could get that upcoming plastic set from Wargames Atlantic and then add to it with these metal characters.

Are you tempted to snap up these new releases from Empress Miniatures?
