Cephalofair Tease Miniatures Of Gloomhaven Collection For 2022

Gloomhaven, Jaws Of The Lion and the upcoming Frosthaven all hit the tabletop with miniatures for the heroes but with standees used to represent the various monsters you encountered throughout your adventures. Cephalofair is looking to fill those gaps with a fundraiser coming in 2022 for the Miniatures Of Gloomhaven.

The idea is that the collection will replace all of the standees from the original Gloomhaven, the Forgotten Circles expansion, Jaws Of The Lion and Frosthaven. I quite like the standees that you get in the game (it certainly stopped me from having to paint more stuff!) but I can see why people would want to upgrade their game components.
Just how they are going to be delivered to folks is yet to be determined. I could see them releasing these as STL Files for people to print at home but also as a big box full of goodies for those who can't do some DIY.
This is certainly a much better way of adding miniatures into the mix. I prefer this over Cephalofair stuffing the core games with plastic and pushing the price even higher.

Quite late as an offering, but a a welcomed addition.
Gloomhaven is weird to me.
It seemed to tick of all the boxes of what I would want in a game: Story, campaign, dungeoncrawl, Combat system that isn’t just some lazy dice-rolls, co-op, discovery…
Nothing worked for me, after more games I ever gave any game a chance, I was bored beyond bored. Not the worst game I ever played, but definetily the biggest disappointment in my entire gaming career.
Had I liked it, I’d be all over this, probably, and I’m sure it will be welcomed by many people.
This news sits oddly with me.
On the one hand, I’m not a fan of Gloomhaven’s standees.
On the other hand, a friend pointed out to me that I really wouldn’t be happy to get 200 minis in a quality matching the minis from Gloomhaven.
Gloomhaven’s existing minis show that Isaac doesn’t know what makes a miniature sculpt appealing and that he hired an amateur sculptor who makes some basic mistakes.
Hopefully he’s gotten someone else in charge of that?
It does make me wonder, if they’d release new sculpts of the PCs with this Kickstarter. Maybe as a stretch goal?
No reason not to improve the miniatures. Gonna speculate that, since Isaac spoke out against miniatures as part of the game in a GH blog post, a third party will take care of the project. Further speculation that it’s Blacklist games, since the Sadler brothers know Isaac personally. Once Fantasy Series 1 is finally delivered, many backers will forget the long delay.
