It's OTT Weekender time! Red Dawn is on the horizon. Battlefront Miniatures' new World War 3 miniatures wargame is ready to invade America and we can't wait to play with their new 15mm models!
World War 3: Red Dawn sets the scene for the invasion of America with the Soviet Airborne landing in the United States and the militia having to rise up to take them on. Wolverines! We really hope that we're going to find a miniature for Patrick Swayze somewhere in their collection.

I thought recent events have demonstrated that the BMDs, designed to charge across the iron curtain en-masse, haven’t fared so well in urban, guerrilla situations…

Have my preorders in for Red Dawn, love the look of the sea stallion and as I was putting together a 82nd airborne force I’m looking forward to adding it to my chinooks and cobras. I have a Soviet motor rifle battalion on the go too so I’m trying to get these done before the descent force is out – I’m thinking a ‘fijord too far’ Norwegian campaign with the 82nd trying to stop a link up. Have a look at Army bits U.K. they did Swedish Army Cold War Kickstarter a while back and there may be some bits on that site you can convert for a Norwegian force. They also have VDV and brits

Whilst I love the VDV stuff from battlefront, I’m already buried by BMDs and troopers from the Army bits Kickstarter. That has a more realistic force that is slightly more afraid of shrapnel and head trauma so wear helmets in combat. There is still a healthy dose of berets for those fool hardy enough to go full Hollywood. I am interested in a couple of Hips and ASU-85s to give a bit more lift capacity and heavy (easily kill-able) armour, and dedicated rules would be an improvement on the Afghanstie ones. €6.20 postage to the UK for a dozen boar riders and a scary snake. Actually that’s pretty reasonable. Aaargh!

the BMD crews were initially in the vehicles but too many deaths during testing meant they had to stop (and thats too many deaths in a soviet testing regime)
One of these days I will get my act together and actually try Batman 3rd edition and maybe dust off my fairly extensive collection.
I do agree with Gerry though, it appears to heavily force the use of the app while playing which I’m not a fan of. Just let me print the damn character cards!
