Those skaven look fun. Get them on the game board!
They are pretty fun to paint too. I’ll probably end up with humans, elves and now skaven teams all finishing together – I need to get busy making lots of grass-flocked bases. Since deciding that Blood Bowl is too much work, and sticking to “sevens” and Blitz Bowl (I’m still looking for a copy of Ultimate Edition in the UK to replace my homebrew pirated-off-the-internet version) painting an entire team feels much less daunting (two batches of four feels manageable).
In painting these skaven I discovered a new trick:
To paint tiny, thin lines around the inner edge of the shoulder pads, I found thinning the paint and using the very tip of the brush worked ok. But it did mean that any slight tremor or wobble was exaggerated in the line.
Painting at about 45 degrees, with a nice, sweeping motion creates lovely straight lines. But sometimes they come out a bit too thick.
But now I just get on with it. And then use the original colour to “cut-in” and make the lines appear narrower (and, to my eyes at least, smoother and straighter than if I painted them with just the tip of the brush!)
I’m really enjoying painting these skaven. But give it another few sessions and I’m sure they’ll start to feel like a chore, just like the humans and elves 😉
