Welcome to Defiance
Wave 1: Show and Tell
Welcome adventurers! Earlier this week I received Wave 1 of the Infinity: Defiance Kickstarter and I decided to start a project to track and share my progress.
The first step of any project is to see what we are working with, aka Show and Tell., so here is the complete content of the shipment.
- Core Game Box
- Scenery Pack
- Collectors Box
- Card Sleeves
- Megalodron
Please forgive the quality of the images. I’m not a photographer and I don’t have great lighting this time of year, but I do try to get them in focus. =)
I’m not going to go into a ton of detail in this mini-unboxing, but will show a little of the individual kits. If you would like a little more detail, let me know, and I will try to provide the requested information.
First up is the Core Box. This had the rule and campaign books, all the tiles, dice, and markers. There were a bunch of minis include too, but I moved them to the Collector’s Box for safekeeping. Below are a couple of shots of the Core Box after I had broken everything down and a shot of the first mission from the campaign guide.
The Collectors Box is basically a box of identical size to the Core Box but is exclusively for mini storage. It has two layers of foam with cutouts for your finished minis. The shipment also included a bunch of the minis that were not part of the Core Box in this box. This is Corvus Belli, so in the picture, you will see that they all came in individual baggies. As I said before, I moved the mini-packages that came with the Core Box into this one.
Next up is the Scenery Pack. Nothing super special here, but they are really nice pieces of terrain that will help game immersion. I totally agree with Warren on this point. Providing a little bit of 3D to a flat game exponentially increases the enjoyment of the experience.
Scenery Pack includes some single door, double doors, consoles, turrets, and some scatter that I’m not sure about yet.
Last but by no means least is the Megaldron. This thing is super cool and will be the largest “mini” I will have ever painted. This isn’t saying a whole lot since I haven’t been painting for too long. The mini comes in two pieces, top and bottom, and goes together beautifully. I provided an additional shot here of it with a “regular” Infinity mini that I’m working on to show scale.
How often I will update this will really depend on how much time I’m able to put into this, but I hope for it to be consistant as I would like to start playing it when lockdowns are over.
