About the Project

The Blackstone beckons. I wanna game so speed paint is the only way! Remove the thinking time and it's about 2 days work to get the whole starter set (45 models) to this stage.

Into the Blackstone

Having recently read all the Black Library fiction for Blackstone Fortress, I got the urge to crack the game open and start a solo play through. 45 models though..phew… speed paint is the only way. So had a ponder about a possible scheme.

Inspired by the box art I wondered if I could go for a moody monochrome, spotlit kind of effect..

I put a shout out onto social media and adopted a great idea to go for a kind of Sin City style. This would enable me to only paint a few details and get the models done mega fast.

Then zenith highlights up through these colours to create the spotlight effect

Selective edge highlight with the lightest of the colours and then pick out a detail on each model. Satin varnish to give the base a bit of a reflective effect, black rim and done.
