The Halo universe is once again heading to our screens in a movie produced by the legendary Ridley Scott. Now a trailer has appeared, giving us our first look at Halo: Nightfall.

According to io9, the film will focus upon a new character to the franchise, an ONI (Office of Naval Intelligence) agent named Jameson Locke, played by Mike Colter.

Locke and his team find themselves under biological attack, an element that somehow is killing humans. They are sent to find out what is happening and are led to unravel a mystery surrounding an ancient and horrifying artifact.

Now I must admit to not having played much Halo, not being much of shooter fan, and my experience of the franchise is pretty much limited to the great web series Red vs Blue. However, I have seen the previous live action Halo adaptation Forward Unto Dawn.

I was impressed by the production quality of this show, which captured the unique style of the Halo universe well. This looks like it will be carried over into Nightfall, which coincidentally was filmed here in N. Ireland.

Altogether I think this movie is looking promising, for both fans of the franchise and scifi nuts in general. It should be seeing a release on Xbox come November 11th, so we will definitely be looking forward to checking it out.

Are any of you fans of the Halo series?
