I’m sure many here like myself were taught that the correct and historic way to fire a bow (if you’re right handed) then the correct side of the bow to have the arrow on is the left, meaning all those minis with the arrow on the right are wrong. Turns out that might not be the case:
Wait, seriously? People were taught to lean the arrow against the left side of the bow?
Strange. I’ve only ever been taught the other way, and imagining lining up the arrow on the left side of the bow feels very unnatural.
Wait… now I’m second-guessing myself! You’re probably right.
I need to find a bow somewhere to see what muscle-memory tells me… X_X
I’m fairly sure left side is standard and right side is the exception; iirc, from browsing the comments on the vid, those who use right side tend to be the ones who are self taught.
Mongolians shoot with the arrow on the right as it allows for easy and quicker loading while on horse back. They also shot using a thumb ring and a very different hold then European style archers.
