Hobby Time With John & Company

We sit in with John and company to go through some of their hobby and find out where things are sitting in terms of the painted armies.

As you can see we've been seeing some more cool techniques being showed off and infantry kicking arse!

For Bootcamp I would concentrate on the gaming. Painting is something I like to take more time over, and these kits are too raw – they need stowage, lots of stowage.

agreed, they don’t look like they’ve been running to war , and no decals 🙁

The guide in the book to the back looks interesting (mainly the drawing of the DAK infantry man)

At a boot camp I would be playing as well. Primer Armypainter base color, wash to dirty it up. Dry brush and high light. Pick out details tracks and pioneer equipment etc… Decals for national insignia and such. Varnish and dull coat.

I agree. Quick assembly and off to war. What? Paint, not required at this time!

I do believe they billed this boot camp as more of a hobby weekend versus playing weekend. Of course, I would have to play some too.

The first day (and into the sceond for some) might not be enough as it seems. So much to prep and paint

I would size up the models and if possible i would leave the tracks off and assemble them after painting them and the tank.. I use an airbrush a lot and i find that a lot of time it is easier to only partially assemble your models when painting.

I can’t even imagine getting an army painted in time to play at a boot camp assembling would take enough of my time. Bravo to those who do.

Painting takes me forever. Done some desert stuff in Caunter, but mostly working on infantry. Can’t wait till bf produces the MW lists for them.
