3D Printing the Bases

After much research, including forums and Youtube videos, I decided to follow the standard of DBx style basing for my 15mm Ancients. This was becuase, from what I can gather, most ancients rules sets (and there are numerous!) mostly note the frontage width of units and not much, which makes them easy to use for different scales (6mm up to 28mm). The DBx basing standard seems to have been adopted by most rules sets and/or players so following this would make the armies compatible for the Sword and Spear rules I plan to use, but also many other rule sets.

Rather than order some MDF or plastic bases online, and wait days for delivery, I decided to 3D print my own. The design took all of 2 mins in Inventor and imported across into Cura. Standard infantry bases are 40mm x 15mm. The bases are 1.5mm deep, with a 0.2mm chamber on the top edge. I had contemplated magnetising the models to the base, and thus print gaps for magnets to go in, but decided it wasn’t worth it in the end. Had the army been 28mm not 15mm, then that would have been another story.

I have an Ender 3 printer at home, and below you can see the results of the print.
