Call of Cthulhu is, perhaps, one of the most influential pen and paper RPGs of all time, responsible for bringing the works of Lovecraft to a wider readership in the modern day. Now, Frogwares and Focus Home Interactive are turning it into a video game.
Frogwares have published a series of concept art pieces showing off the atmospheric locations that we will be exploring as we investigate the nameless horrors of the Cthulhu Mythos.
So far these art pieces are looking very promising, capturing the dark and mysterious settings that Call of Cthulhu often finds itself in. From the look of it I would say that the game might take some hints from modern horror games like Amnesia, which is not a bad thing given that that game was already heavily Lovecraft inspired.
However, I am a little cautious about this given Frogwares existing library of games, their main ones being the Sherlock Holmes series. On the plus side it means they are experienced in making investigation games, but from my own (admittedly minor) experience with those games both the graphics and game play are ultimately disappointing.
What are your hopes for a Call of Cthulhu video game?
