Tau upgrade = disruption pod, 5pts. They own completely. They may even pwn.
Also, Tau have a special issue weapon, Airbursting Fragmentation Projector. Its not hugely powerful but is a large blast template and ignores cover saves, i don’t think it would take out vehicles however.
you could go IG and use the hydra flack tank no cover saves for any vehicles dont know if it works for troops but two twin linked autocannons still puts the hurt on any one
They hydra only takes away cover saves from skimmers or or things of that nature that gain a cover save from turbo boosting. A normal vehicle that is obscured still gets a cover save.
IG do have an artillery unit and a russ variant that can ignore cover saves. Or, you could use heavy weapons and issue the order “fire on my target” to help deal with cover
Tau have an answer for everything. People say Tau can’t be competitive and yet they have the strongest weapon in the game, the best upgrades and of course 36″ range for our normal troop choice. Tau are AWESOME!
I can’t believe that anyone would say that Tau are competitive. I play tau so it is OK for me to dis them. first of all their guns are only 30″ range and are wielded by the worst unit in the game, I would rather have gaunts or orks with pulse rifles then fire warriors. They do not have the strongest weapon in the game, IG doe, how does S10 AP1 2D6 armour pen, small blast sound to you, a lot better then the railgun. Yes Tau have markerlights but they are a real point sink if you don’t use… Read more »
Hive guard are the best you have to be in cover to get it so turbo boost will not grant you a covers save vs them and they sport 24 inch S8 guns.
I thought Hive Guard only stop you from getting cover saves from intervening terrain, so you would still get a cover save from turbo-boosting or moving flat out?
That is correct. They take away LoS cover. Turbo boosters still give cover saves.
I use a Hydras to take down the blasted Cover saves. It workes best vs. Bikes & Skimmers sins its ”only” str 7.
But its 72” 4xTwin Linked shots!! and only 75 points!! It just cant get any better than that. Fit them in a squad of 2 then you got em rolling. I alway facemelt Eldar (and the new dark eldar) and leave them in there ”tracks” or what ever those skimmer things have.
Kill it with fire! Flamers ftw.
What if you used a unit like the night bringer, that ignores all cover saves. Would this work to combat cover saves?
yeah I think nightbringer ignores saves of any kind, so that is including cover.
I think crack shot also lets you negate all cover saves
The one from Pask? Not really.
As said before, the IG have the Hydra. But you can also go for the Colossus, Hellhound or the Leman Russ Eradicator. All of them kill the cover save rule. Also the order Fire on my Target! forces them to rerole cover saves passed. I would say the IG are one of the best armies that can handle cover saves.
