About the Project
Skullsplitter here from the SF Bay CA, Wargamer, boardgamer, and Goblin Standard bearer for the Epic Fantasy Metal Band WarTroll. https://wartroll.bandcamp.com/ During the summer we did a purge of old games and toys to the Goodwill. My son had this Ice Age Happy Meal toy in with his stuff and I pulled it out for the future todo piles. I play Kings of War here and have been fielding the Ogres for third Edition. Manny has been drafted to join the Mighty Black Metal Bards Ogre Clan.

This Project is Completed
Time to get whipped into shape.
Like any new recruit Manny had to be subjected to a haircut and a proper delousing.
I then went to work filing off his text, and filling his gaps and holes. I broke off his little switch and lever for talking, and moving his head with a pair of pliers. Then glued his head, switches, and wobbly tucks securing with zap a gap. At first I was going to fill every hole and large gap with green stuff but, decided my black hot glue would be sufficient. I built up a Manlier mane for Manny with several layers of hot glue around the neck. I did however seal the Gap inside of the tusks with Greenstuff though.
New day , New Manny
Gave Manny a quick paint job with Rust-oleum X2 primer. All of his holes look filed and the glue looks pretty well blended. He may yet get covered a good layer of armor. Certainly looks less like a Disney toy IMO.
Manny-At -Arms
So far Manny seems to be my project for when I meet up with my Bro’s who I Wargame with on our weekly Thursday night paint session via Zoom. It’s a new qurathang for us. Two Thursdays ago I just tinkered with paper templates. Last week I transferred the templates to craftfoam, heated and formed the armor to the models face. Then cut it into segments. I broke out ye ole black hot glue and assembled the pieces. I made some pilot holes, in headpiece, cut a few toothpicks to size then hot glue the crap out of the back. I then took 1mm styrene rood and tried to cut straight .75mm length pieces by eye and superglued it to the piece as rivets. You can notice some variation in the photos I took as some bits were dropped and added as this build is an alive creation. aye it Ogretech Whaddada ya Want!
Hut, hut spike!
Manny furthers his Warsenal for game day. His helmet is hot clued with a light layer of glue and mashed on. I took toothpicks halved and widdled them down for cruel double headed pokers, notched them to fit better on the tusks, super glued them on, and lashed then them to the tusks with hemp twine. Dibbed and dabbed more super glue within the gaps. After all had dried I sealed everything with a mix of black paint & modePodge.
Macho, macho, Manny
More Manny madness using craft foam, toothpicks and 1mm styrene rod. Made little collar w/ spikes, Some paulderons, and added some straps n studs, and a buckle. Heated and shaped foam with the heat gun and secured with hot glue. Sealed with black acrylic paint and Modpodge.
Manny’s got a base
Base coat that is. Pretty straight. Mammoth is based in Dark shadow, armor honed steel. Leather in black. All washed with Templar black, cause Nuln Oil is hard to find. Tusks are Skel Horde, wood spikes Wyldwood, rope Nazareth yellow.
Manny-pedi, hi lights, and new contacts.
Manny gets pampered. Highlights are all reaper paints, to his coat using drybrush of golden shadow , and a second using gold. Shadow Mixed with Linen. Armor, spikes, n studs, dry brushed with more honed steel , then light With true silver. Tusks drybrushed with reaper ivory, then small detail of white overbrushed. Rope n wooden spikes drybrused golden shadow, then spikes highlight with golden shadow. Ropes some details with linen. Contacts are contrast blood angles, with Citadel Mephisto red highlight.
Pedi time . Now next level pampering begins. Base coat Wraithbone, washed with Contrast Nazdreg yellow, Dry brushed reaper polished bone. Manny is feeling fab.
The Base-iks of Manny-liness
Scored the base for good adhesion.
Took some stir sticks busted them up and made a few fence portions with super glue.
Attached the busted fence and some stones to the base using hot blue, the covered everything with black paint mixed with modge pudge.
All fence bits Based coated In all reaper paints, the fence is russet brown, then dry bushed a mix of russet with golden shadow, then a dB of g. Shadow, followed by dry brush of polished bone then a highlight of white. Stones some based of Stone grey, some snow shadow. Stipples of golden shadow, and dry bushes of bases colors mixed with white. Highlights of white on all.
Some highlands grass and tufts with a few flowers to set the scene.
Manny on the run
Done, done. Here we go. Used some hot glue to give Manny more purchase for super glueing to the base.
Once super glued to the base it was good n done. Just added a few busted fence pieces. So in Kings of War third addition Mammoths received the rule addition of strider allowing them to make unhindered charges. This is base is a joke because strider is great but, Thunderous charge is really what running a Mammoth is about. Cheerz
