Try the new Vallejo matte spray varnish – it is hands down the best spray varnish I’ve ever used.  It goes on kind of disturbingly thick – I’ve actually seen it foam up on a mini if I’m not careful – but it always dries to an even matte finish.  I’ve not had any problem with frosting or overspray onto other minis.  Great stuff.
