Wasn’t expecting that big a response to my vent!
I suppose I do really know that if I’ve been hooked for 23 years, it’s probably permanent, but not having motivation to do anything for more than 3 months is weird for me. Appreciate all the advice and particularly @warzan, thats an awesome offer about the hobby weekend. Sadly I have plans so I can’t take it up, but I appreciate the offer.
Among the excellent advice here I’ve decided as a first step, I need to just clean up this hobby room. All this unfinished stuff is probably just a bit demoralising and isn’t helping get the motivation going again.
I should probably try to just keep 1 or 2 things out to work on.
@mage – I can definitely recognise signs of stress in just killing time rather than spending it. Hobby used to be how I’d unwind, but now just the thoughts of it doing something feels like effort.
I’m in West Dublin
@unclejimmy – appreciate you sharing your story and solid advice there. I’ll have to check out the weekender tread again. I tried it once but I just couldn’t keep up with you guys 😛
@commanderkaiser – yeah, I recognise a lot of that myself. Enjoy the idea, but the effort involved in getting out with no guarantee of a game on the other end of the trip – that can be off-putting. I’ve definitely done the sitting & staring at the mountains to do and being unable to pick something to work on thing. Some good advise in the thread though – I hope you get through your burnout with your hobby intact mate!
@admiralandy – thanks for the videos, I’m watching them now. Getting people together has been a problem, and admittedly with a young child I haven’t been pushing too hard to make arrangements myself, family comes first. That isn’t a complaint either, my son is the absolute joy of my life, but I might be subconsciously using him as an excuse not to try to organise anything just out of sheer laziness 😀
