Darrell has a look in to who’s best to attack first in close combat, and if it’s better to kill the unit or the character who’s along with them.
Mephestion has 5 wounds(and he goes first against the Ctan), Dante, Calgar and Lysander all have 4, so you really want to weaken them before a charge, even with a big nasty like Nightbringer, as there’s a good chance they might actually do enough damage back to win the combat,- even Captain Sicarius can use his special attack and oneshot the Ctan on a 6- and if you lose the combat you have to take more saves, and considering you’re taking probably 4 to 6 attacks from the terminators that are left plus anything up to 5 or 6 from Calgar depending on who charges, you may want to reconsider charging the high order marines at all, or at very least bring a squad of wraiths or something along with.
The general principle though is sound, if you’ve got a choice of spamming wounds onto a unit or trying to take down that super hard character with them, sometimes the unit is the best option (particularly if the opponent’s unit is fearless). Simply winning the combat be a healthy margin is great way to take out the likes of Calgar due to the extra saves he has to then make due to combat resolution.
Certainly one of your better videos, Darrell.
Deciding who to placed the attacks on and if to split them can be tricky business, but I think you hit the nail right on the head here.
Nice video, always good to look out for things like this. Y’all know the title sequence has a spelling mistake in it though, right? “Firsc”…
