Lucid Eye has now released their new Adventure Module, Caverns Of The Frog King, up for pre-order alongside a selection of new miniatures for the Toon Realms range.

Caverns Of The Frog King - Lucid Eye

Caverns Of The Frog King is what they refer to as an 'Add Your Engine' Module. This means that you can use any system you like to play this game with the adventure itself setting out guidelines and story for you to them strap around your preferred game. This could be a role-playing game like Dungeons & Dragons or a tabletop miniatures game instead like the Gangfight Skirmish Game System or other games like Otherworld for example.

This is a great idea and because of the nature of the game and it's miniature range it could be perfect for those looking to introduce younger gamers to the idea of role-playing and fighting through adventures as a group.

The set above comes with everything you need although you can buy each element separately including the Adventure Module itself HERE. As well as some familiar faces, the team also added in some new characters like Boppet Yodelfoot The Halfpint Bard here and...

...Debra Cadabra. All of these characters marry up well to a range of different character classes and races from role-playing games which is good.

Whilst I'm very much an adult now, I could see myself having a lot of fun with this. I guess we're all big kids! I love the idea of having a role-playing game like D&D 5th Edition on hand (which has free rules!) and then taking this plus all of its contents, and playing out a self-contained adventure.

This would be a wonderful project to work on AND you could have a little extra fun making maps and terrain for it too, or just scribbling on some graph paper if you don't have the time.

The above model was sculpted by Trish Carden who has started doing a lot of work for Lucid Eye. You might remember her as one of the sculptors behind a lot of the creatures and characters done by Forge World over the years.

As an introduction to hobby, role-playing and more, I could see this being a wonderful set to pick up. You could get the players to sit down and paint each of their heroes whilst you worked on the monsters, bosses and the story itself.

The Adventure Module itself is also meant to be very easy to play 'on the fly' for experienced Games Masters so it shouldn't take much work for a newbie to get stuck in either.

I can't wait to see what people do with this and hopefully, we see more modules in the future!

Will you be giving this a go?
