Coming to Salute 2016 we have a whole bunch of additional SAGA miniatures from Gripping Beast. Leading the way into the battle and standing by their Warlords we have these War Banner Bearers for the factions featured in the second book...

Breton (Banner)

First out of the gate we have this Breton charging forth on his horse with spear and banner held high. I could imagine him riding alongside thundering cavalry as they rush towards a shieldwall in hopes of shattering it. He looks like a really dynamic model.

Following on from him we look to the Anglo-Saxons who may indeed be within said shieldwall.

Anglo Saxon (Banner)

Once again I like that he's on the march which makes a change from how you normally see standard bearers. He looks pro-action and in the middle of shouldering his way though the lines with the banner held high. Of course he is also well armed for when the fighting begins.

Next up we have the Scots who are standing proud and waiting for a charge I reckon. I really like the look of the model which seems to, oddly enough, draw some style of his dress from Roman auxiliary. Something about the model has a much more 'Ancient' feel which I quite like.

Scots (Banner)

Some great work once again and it leads us into the final War Banner Bearer who is one of the semi-legendary JomsViking. These bloodthirsty warriors were some of the Dark Age worlds most dangerous fighters.

JomsViking (Banner)

This chap certainly has a rather fetching hairstyle but what really should be noted is his foot atop the head of a fallen foe. I could imagine him in the front rank of an army having just chopped down the enemy champion. He is now glowering ahead at the opposing army daring them on.

Late Roman Infantry

Of course some Late Roman Infantry is also marching out from Gripping Beast and we now have the cover art for the box.

Late Roman Infantry

Once again we have some wonderful artwork from Peter Dennis and the tingle of anticipation as we await what Studio Tomahawk are going to be doing with Arthurian age warfare.

What do you think?
