Finally real cheese. I’ve been waiting for this one.
You forget about a thing any ork player does with his boys… And that is a powerklaw nob. three strengh 8 attacks might stop your rhino pretty easily.
Actually, he only gets one attack. It is also fairly easy just to miss him when you tank shock and then he doesn’t get to use the PK. But you’re right, it is something to watch out for.
Yeah I kinda missed the fact you get only one attack. Non the less you rarely see less than 10 boys sitting on an objective and the the mob rule also applies (being fearless or replacing your leadership value with the number of boys is not to be omitted. It’s easy to underestimate a unit of boy but the hidden powerklaw and leadership boosts are awesome and powerful things.
But the nob would still need to roll a 6 to ‘hit’ the rhino as he always moves it at cruising speed.
So its odds against he would do anything to the rhino
The attack automatically hits.
If the klaw nob would end up under the rhino, yes. A smart player will tank shot a normal nob and deny the klaw the chance to hit it.
You could Tankshock an Ork without a powerclaw, but he’ll get his attacks against it the next turn, as long as they pass their Ld test. This is a good tactic though, and worth the risk in my opinion.
that being said I would image with all the ork boys as well assaulting the rhino probably would be odds on to be a wreck after. I assume they get the bonus +1 strength on assaulting
Tank shock reaction attacks auto hit.
I have been using this tactic for a long time now with eldar to contest at the end of games, very effective.
Alos if you were to try to avoid the nob so that her cannot attack by guessing less then that is nasty too. Works well with orks as described above.
Here is some cheese to try. use 2-3 tank shocks to move units out of the 3 inches that causes an abjective to be claimed. Really really nasty..
and the death or glory you only get 1 attack against the vehicle
Darrel, do you realise that rulebook says that the distance moved by the vehicle is the “real” distance moved, so moving in circles, foward and backwards etc don’t count.
just saying… 🙂
@thcrusade
No, he is moving 6″ forward on one turn, then moving 6″ the next turn. If he was doing 6″ forward and then 6″ back in the same turn, then you’d be correct.
This will also depend on how many orkz are in the Mob because @ 11 orkz they are fearless.
Yes, this is an excellent tactic to keep objectives contested, even vs units that are fearless since they still have to move to the side of your charge. As pointed out though, if the unit has a power fist/claw or any other anti tank attack, you can be in serious trouble. And all I can say is WTF Darrell, some guy kept SIX units on an objective an entire game and just let you keep doing that? It’s pretty obvious unless you have quite a few str9 and higher weapons near by, you’ll never get that objective back from a… Read more »
that’s not pink, it’s violet
Why did they write orc with c when they are in 40k clearly written with k
I love this tactics, best used with Eldar grav tanks. I love to make a dash across the board with a tank full of Guardians or Dire Avengers in the last turn of the game. Nasty!
Ha Ha move up 12 hope that it explodes tank shocking then have the avengers blade storm the squad on it!
sorry 6
